《L O S E R》-Chapter 12-

'Why do you have to be so fucking awkward Alex!' I internally yelled at myself. It really shouldn't be so difficult to just walk up to someone and say hi, but when you can't even order a Starbucks without stuttering it's bad.
The last couple of days I have attempted to at least make one friend here, but it seems that every damn person here is either too "busy" to talk to me or I just can't get myself to walk up to them. When the hell did I go back to being like this? I never had any problems like this in New York, but there I already had friends when I started school.
It was stupid of me to think that I could ignore everyone that I was in the same class as before. I had my first real scare yesterday when this guy from my geography class came up to me after class wanting to "grab something to eat". He didn't even have to introduce himself because I knew exactly who that slimy scumbag was. In addition to being completely disgusted by his obvious flirting, it felt kinda like a personal victory when the guy that used to call me ugly all throughout middle school wanted to take me out on a date. If he only knew...
But I didn't even have time to reject him before my knight in shining armor came to my rescue and told him to get lost. Nah I'm just kidding it was just Aaron, but he did tell him to get lost which was kind of rude of him, but I didn't exactly mind. I would actually think Aaron was trying to be nice to me if it wasn't for him ignoring me most of the time. The rest of it he spends being a complete buzzkill. "Alex, you can't eat ice cream for breakfast" or "Alex you can't talk to that guy." Seriously who even says that?

I have really missed my stupid friends tho and it's sucks that we can't do all the things we have planned for this year. How fun hadn't it been if we had dumped slime all over Mr. Stevens. Anyways my brothers haven't even given me my phone back yet. They claimed that if it's an emergency I could one of them. That sadly means that I haven't been able to contact my friends, but that's going to change because I am buying a burner phone after school today.
I have gotten out of my Second class for the day and thank god that is over because I'm really bad at math. I consider myself more of a bookworm rather than a "nerd", but people are pretty quick to think that since I like writing and reading I am automatically an A+ student. I wish.
I walked down the busy hallway while looking through my notes for my next class. I silently cursed myself for not using any paper clips. While being completely indulged in my papers I didn't even notice the group of people standing in front of me. So me being me of course I had to crash into one of them.
I braced myself for the impact of the fall, but to my big surprise, I got caught right before hitting the floor. I quickly managed to pull myself together and that's when I saw just who I had just ran into. It was a short girl with brown hair and a pair of big round glasses. She pulled herself up and I noticed the large brown stain on her shirt. Oh no I made her spill her coffee. Way to go Alex.
She looked up at me through her glasses, but immediately looked back down when she saw I was looking. Is she scared of me or what? I can't remember ever seeing her around.
I noticed that she was standing next to another girl and a boy. The latter was standing awkwardly beside me. Shit, I was so caught up with myself that I didn't even thank him for catching my fall.

The other girl looked completely different from her friend. She kind of reminded me of Rapunzel with her long blonde hair and green eyes. She has that edgy vibe to her and it honestly suits her so well. Lastly, the guy was a lot taller than me and looked kind of intimidating, to be honest.
A bit embarrassed by my clumsiness I decided to at least properly introduce myself. I nervously fiddled with my bracelet, scared as hell to make a foul out of myself. Luckily the girl with the blond hair beat me to it.
"Hi!, my name is Cristina." She introduced herself with a big smile. That made me feel a bit calmer.
"Hi, I'm Alex, Nice to meet you." I greeted her.
Cristina gave the guy a little push forward. He easily towered over me and I felt so small standing next to him. I wasn't expecting what happened next, but without having to utter out another word he put on a smile and quickly embraced me in a warm bear hug. Wow, this guy was a good hugger. I awkwardly hugged his side before pulling away.
"Omg I'm so sorry for just jumping you like that, but I just know we are going to be best friends! I'm Eli by the way." He exclaimed cheerily. Well, I for sure didn't expect that, but I was not complaining to have gained a friend.
I was stunned by how nice these people were to me. Why haven't I seen them around before? I am pretty sure I would have remembered them if I had. They just seemed so genuine unlike some of the other people I have encountered on my first days here.
I moved my attention back to the girl that I made spill her coffee. The large brown spot on her white shirt was definitely going to stain. She looked at me like she was unsure if I was going to either laugh at her or hug her. I decided to bite the apple and at least offer to get her a new shirt.
"I'm so sorry for ruining your shirt, I think I have a spare one in my locker..." I said.
Her entire expression changed and she pulled her jacket even closer to her body. "No, it's totally my fault, I'm so sorry. I'm gonna leave you alone now." She rambled.
I felt confused. Had I said something wrong?
I didn't have time to stop her before she quickly disappeared down the hallway, probably to her next class. I turned to her friends who had noticed my confusion.
"That's Helena, if you haven't noticed yet she tends to get shy around new people. Especially since you are really popular around here." Cristina said.
I couldn't help the laughter that escaped my mouth. If having no friends and eating your lunch alone is considered popular then I must be fucking famous.
Cristina and Eli looked at me with their mouth slightly open. "What's so funny? You are definitely considered popular around here." Eli said, Cristina nodding. I just couldn't help but laugh at that very untrue statement.
"Well I definitely disagree, but thanks. If you are not busy do you guys want to join me for lunch today or..." I asked.
Shit, why did I ask them that? Of course, they don't want that. I internally yelled at myself for being so stupid and seemingly desperate.
"Yes, that would be great! We will see you soon." Cristina answered happily.
Did I get that right? Do they want to sit with me at lunch?
"You what?..." I tried asking, but they had already left for class. Which I probably should do too.
Good job Alex, I think you just made some friends.

War of Seasons
Dorothea Atlin is the young, apathetic leader of the neutral territory of Sirpo, a chilly land hovering above the continuously warring factions of Sacer and Ghuria, whose devastating magics have ravaged their people and lands time and time again. Following a shocking attack and a cruel deception, Dorothea grows her conscience and takes up arms, using her self-destructive ability to manipulate the flow of time to ensure Sacer’s victory. Her growing understanding of war and the two factions is guided by Iree Nobelis, the determined and enthralling commander of Sacer’s forces, Ariana Kingfisher, a steely swordswoman of mixed Ghurian and Sacerian descent, and Rhys Tamlin, a kind but haunted soldier who goes to challenge Dorothea’s self-imposed celibacy and join her on a mutual journey of healing from the tragic legacies of the Atlin family and wars between the nations. Meanwhile, Dorothea’s only friend and deserter from the Sacerian military, Shark Olyen, returns to their homeland to face the family that disowned them and finds more than they bargained for in meeting Cerid Creed, a noble whose duty to his people clashes with his desires in romance and in life, much like Shark’s did long before. As their developing or preexisting loves and differing convictions on how to achieve peace create rifts between these major players, Dorothea experiences a personal revolution that leads her to fight for what she believes is right, no matter the cost. A slow-burn story that takes time setting up the psychology and motivations of characters for explosive payoff later down the line.
