《The Innocent Salvatore (Niklaus, Elijah and Kol)》Chapter 20

Walking through the doors of the plantation house, Rebekah is instantly tackled into a hug. It only takes a second before a smile lights up Rebekahs' face and she tightly wraps her arms around the blonde. Rebekah had been staying in France for a little while, to get away from the 'Mikaelson' drama. She had only just come back when she found out that Angel was pregnant.
At first, Rebekah was hurt she hadn't been told sooner. Then she remembered that Angel didn't have a phone, and her brothers weren't the best at communicating. Although, that was in the past. She was here now, and she was ready to help.
"Angel, Dear. I see some things have changed." Rebekah tells Angel with a smirk as she pulls away from the hug, holding Angel at arm's length to look her over. At those words, a blush forms on Angels face as she looks to her feet.
"Yeah," Angel mumbled sheepishly. Placing a hand on her small bump before looking back up at Rebekah. "You could say that."
Letting out a laugh, Rebekah smiles at the blond. "I say a shopping trip is in order. My little niece or nephew deserves the best." Rebekah tells Angel, linking their arms together. Rebekah thought a shopping trip would be perfect. Knowing her brothers, Angel hadn't been able to leave the house much since finding out she was pregnant.
"No, Rebekah," Elijah says. Speaking up for the first time since his sister had arrived. "It's not safe." He tells the blondes, walking over to them and pulling Angel into his arms.
"I have to agree, Sister," Kol adds. Walking over to them as well. "You know how many enemies we Mikaelsons have, it's not safe for her out there." He tells her, grabbing Angel's hand.
"Brothers! I'll be with her the whole time, what could go wrong?" Rebekah asks. She was an original for god's sake, and there was no way she wouldn't do everything in her power to protect her best friend and the unborn child.
"Please?" Angel begs, turning around in Elijah's arms to look at her mates. "We were going out anyway, maybe Rebekah and I could just go out instead? We would only be shopping at the mall. Please Elijah, Kol." Angel asks them, pulling out her puppy dog eyes for extra effect.
Angel watches with a tiny smile as a thinking expression appears on both their faces, a victorious smirk appearing on Rebekahs. Got them.
"Fine," Elijah states after he and Kol share a knowing look. "On one condition." He tells the girls, watching them nod before he continues. "We'll go to lunch first, at Rousseau's. Then we will let you girls shop, only for an hour though. Then we'll come and collect you.'' Elijah tells the girls in a tone, one that meant it was this or nothing.

Rebekah was about to disagree and argue for more time, but before she can Angel speaks up. "Deal."
"What can I get for you guys?" A waitress asked the group, her name tag read Camille. Looking her over once, Angel realized she was quite beautiful. Short blonde hair, bright green eyes, and a perfect smile. She reminded her a lot of Caroline, except she seemed a bit kinder, less of a mean girl compared to Caroline. Snapping out of her thoughts before she embarrassed herself, Angel gives her a smile before ordering.
"A cheeseburger with fries and a cherry coke. Oh, and extra pickles please." Angel tells Camille, her voice barely loud enough to hear. For some reason the baby really liked pickles. Why? She had no clue, but what the baby wants the baby gets.
After everyone gives their order, Camille walks away. Leaving the group alone.
"Bekah, how was Paris?" Angels asks, breaking the silence. It was actually Angel's idea for her to go, it had been Angel's favorite place to live.
"It was beautiful," Rebekah admits. "It was a nice break from my brothers, I missed you though," Rebekah tells the girl. Sending a smirk to her brothers as they roll their eyes. They were used to Rebekah's snarky remarks by now. She may act as she hated them but in reality, they would do anything for each other.
"We missed you too, Sister Dear," Kol tells Rebekah with a smirk of his own. Leaning across the table to get into Rebekah's face. Looking at the two, Angel shakes her head. They acted like children together, but at least they were somewhat getting along.
After a little more small talk around the table, Rebekah and Kol making snide remarks about each other the whole time. The food finally arrives, a smile makes its way onto Angels face at the smell of the food. Since she had gotten pregnant, her life basically revolves around food. It was like she was feeding a small army inside of her.
After placing all the food down in front of the respective parties, Angel tells the women thank you before digging in. She had just eaten a little while ago, although it feels like she hadn't eaten for days, weeks even.
Around 30 minutes later, everyone was finally done with their food. Angel finished first, stealing little pieces from her mates' plate as well as Rebekahs as they finished. She was just, 'helping them' as she put it.
Calling Camille, their waitress, back over Elijah paid for the food. Leaving a hundred for a tip like he usually did, he really didn't have much of a regard for money. Standing up from the table, the group heads outside. Leaving the comfortable restaurant for the crowded and busy streets of New Orleans. It seemed like there was always some kind of celebration going on, no matter the day or time.

"Rebekah," Elijah says turning around to face her. "I am counting on you to keep my mate safe. I promise you that if anything happens to her it won't be Niklaus daggering you this time." He tells her, a dangerous look in his eye. Elijah didn't get angry often, although when he did he was not someone you would want to mess with.
Giving him a nod, Rebekah turns to look at Angel. "I'm going to wait in the car, I'll give you 5 minutes to say goodbye." After giving her brothers a nod, Rebekah turns around and walks to the car. Getting in gracefully while yelling '5 minutes'.
"Darling," Kol says. Making Angel turn to look at him. "Please be careful, and make sure to stay with Rebekah the whole time. I don't know what I'd do if you got hurt." Kol tells her with a rare smile on his handsome face.
Looking up at him, Angel nods giving him a huge smile. Bending down, Kol takes Angel's soft face in his hands. "I love you." He tells her before giving her a soft kiss on the lips, pulling away before it could get too heated.
"Love you too," Angel mumbles before Kol pulls away. Letting Elijah take his place so he can say his own goodbyes.
"Be careful, Baby. I don't want you, or this baby getting hurt. Like Kol said, stick at Rebekah's side and call us if you need anything." Elijah tells her, his voice stern. Nodding at him as well, Angel stands on her tiptoes to give Elijah a soft kiss on his lips.
"Love you," she mumbled against his lips. Elijah saying it as well before they're interrupted.
"Angel, it's been five minutes. Time to go!" Rebekah yells from the car, causing Angel to let out a chuckle at her impatience.
"Bye!" Angel yells before speeding into the passenger side of the car, giving Rebekah a high five before they drive off.
"What about this?" Rebekah asks Angel, holding up a cute yellow onesie. Currently, they were baby shopping. Even though they had no clue the gender yet. Angel had tried to tell her that they still had plenty of time to do this, but Rebekah was relentless.
Nothing came between Rebekah and her shopping.
"It's cute, Bekah. But are you sure we need more stuff? The baby isn't even born yet and it had more clothes than I do." Angel tells Rebekah laugh, they had only been shopping for 40 minutes and they had gotten at least 100 outfits. Angel had tried telling Rebekah that they wouldn't even be able to use some of them, giving the gender was still unknown, but again. Rebekah insisted.
"My little niece or nephew is going to have the best wardrobe imaginable," Rebekah tells Angel with a smile while throwing it in the basket. She was going to be the best Aunt. Before Angel and Rebekah could argue the issue any more, a woman interrupts them.
"Hello, Ladies." A woman says, making the two turn around to look at her. "Is there anything I can help you find?" She asks in a voice to polite to seem normal, maybe it was just how people in baby shops spoke?
Before Angel can decline, Rebekah buts in. "Yes actually, can you show me the most expensive crib you have?" Rebekah asks Angel, shaking her head with a sigh. Nodding her head, the women lead Rebekah away. Rebekah turning around with a wink before she's out of sight.
Turning around, Angel continues to look at baby clothes knowing Rebekah would be back soon. After a couple of minutes, Angel feels a tap on her shoulder. Turning around, Angel meets the eyes of the saleswomen.
"Yes?" Angel asks her, confused why she came back.
"I think I have something in the back you would really enjoy, your sister is already waiting back there for you." She tells her, a wide smile on her face. Angel felt a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach, although she followed her anyway.
"Okay," Angel says wearily. Turning around and following the women to the back room. As soon as they enter the room, the door slams shut making Angel jump.
"Angel. Here it is." The woman says, showing Angel a beautiful crib. One that was fit for a princess. Angel was about to walk over to it, although before she moves something makes her freeze in her tracks.
"Wait, how do you know my name? I never told you." Angel asks, turning around to face the woman with a protective hand on her stomach.
"What do you mean?" The woman asks, the smile on her face still not fading. It was beginning to look unnatural.
"Where's Rebekah?" Angel asks the woman, ignoring her previous question. She was beginning to think it was a bad idea to follow her back here. She should have listened to her gut.
"I'm sorry," the woman says. Still not answering.
"For what?" Angel asks nervously as she started to slowly back away toward the door.
"This." The woman says speeding over to Angel and waving her hand over her face, watching as Angel's eyes close. Catching her before she can hit the ground.
"Elena says, hello." The woman says before she and Angel disappear with a wave of her hand, no trace of them left.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

Monsters as Men(A good v evil story based on reincarnation in different worlds)
The Monsters have taken over the universe. With their corrupting system behind them, which they use equally for power and recruitment, no one can compare to their strength. Good has been nearly eradicated, with its god slain, and the one who picked up its Mantle tempted to evil. In contrast, the god of Evil is growing, getting stronger. Only one person can defend the world against this threat. This is the tale of the Bluejay. The magic system in this world is based on a few types of energy: Note(for Songs), Will(for Thought), Mana(for ordinary magic, because I felt like it), Spirit(for Spirit Magic), and Dominion(for Aura). This is very much a work in progress. Any suggestions are welcome. This is set in the same world as my other story, Spirits of Eternity. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
