ADHI'S POV

"Mom?" I stared at Jeeth in disbelief as he walked away from me.

I saw red, everywhere. Rage spread through me as I walked to the out house.. Arjun caught up to me on the way. When I explained to him what Jeeth said arjun cursed.

When I reached the door, I didnt even bother to knock and kicked it open. And there he was the creator of all these problems lying in the bed shirtless with a burning cigarette on his lips Ajay Malhotra. My mom was arranging their clothes from the suitcase, Thank god she was clothed.

"don't you guys have basic manners boy" Ajay sat up in the bed.

"yeah that's real classy coming from you ajay" Arjun retorted.

"Arjun! show some respect to your fa-" she was cut off when arjun yelled "My father is next door and yes I do respect him. This man is not our father and never will be"

I patted Arjun's shoulder to calm him down. He was really emotional when it came to this relationship between mom and ajay. He hadn't believed me when I first told him mom had to sleep with my principal to get me the LLB seat. He had slapped me and told me to respect our mother. But he had to learn of it the hard way when he walked into them making out.

Since then Arjun was very aggressive towards Mom and Ajay. Tara was the only good thing that has been in his life since. The only reason mom is in this wedding is because Tara's family is orthodox. They were skeptical when they learned that our parents were divorced and both remarried.

But tara's father and amumma said that it didnt concern Tara and Arjun. But they wanted the groom's mother and father present for the wedding as per tradition.

"Yes, you respect that cheater but not him" mom bellowed.

I let out a low chuckle. Arjun snarled "How is he different mom? He also cheated on his wife and used your body as payment for my brother's education. That's a real respectable specimen right there. "

She paled. Ajay jumped from the bed and started towards Arjun.

"SIT DOWN AJAY! or you will regret it" I screamed. He lingered for a few minutes but walked out the door, then came in again grabbed a shirt and walked out again.

I took a deep breath and looked at mom. Her eyes were red with anger and a tear spilled down her eye.

"Why cant you both be happy for-"

"Did you invite Jeeth here?" I interrupted her drama.

She froze. "Jeeth is actually here? I didnt think he would come"

Arjun laughed in disbelief, he started pacing the room with his hands above his head.

Rage welled inside me like a volcano, I wanted so badly to explode. But no. I will save it for Jeeth.

"How could you do that to me? To maya? You know what he did to her. To us. and yet you invite him to her home. How messed up are you?" I cried. Tears springing to my eyes.

This women, whom I did terrible things to protect her dirty secret because I thought she did it for my safe future, just turned out to be the most selfish person on the planet. She did it for her, her pleasure, her safe future. Not for me, never for her sons.

"He told me he wanted to apologise. To you and maya. everyone deserves a second chance Adhi" she fumbled with her hands. She looked completely oblivious, Jeeth totally fooled her like he almost fooled me earlier.

"Well let me tell you, he isn't here for redemption, he is here for Revenge. He's going to try and split up me and maya again."

"son of a bitch" arjun mumbled.

"No Adhi, he might have actually change-"

"Just shut up! and also did you tell greeshma that im hers?" I enquired.

"Greeshma? oh... that's why she was asking me that much questions" arjun mumbled.

"yeah apparently im promised to her" I looked at my mom accusingly.

"I thought maybe she- she's a pretty girl. It was before I knew maya would be here- I thought maybe she can take your mind off maya and you guys could get together" she said sheepishly.

"are you serious?" Arjun was sitting with his head in his hands.

"She's my little sister mom. I was there at the hospital when she was born. how can you even-" I growled. "Not everyone is looking to get laid like you"

She slapped me across my face. Arjun jumped up. "Is he wrong though mom?"

"Maya" mom sighed.

I turned around and saw maya standing in the doorway.

"Can I come in?" she asked.

"come in sweetheart. I was hoping to talk to you-"

"oh cut the crap aunty. you and I both know you were trying to drive me away from your son" maya snapped.

It was like whole room had eyebrows up the sky. "WHATT??" we echoed.

"I listened long enough to understand. You set up that greeshma girl on his tail, now you see me here you call Jeeth here. Its kind of obvious."

OH MY GOD! I haven't even thought about that. Well now I know why they say women think alike.

"Adhi, Arjun can I see you guys for a minute?" maya asked and walked out without a glance at mom. Mom stood there shell shocked and staring at us.

I moved first and Arjun followed me. we walked out the room and maya was waiting for me outside. she smirked at me and nodded at Arjun.

I took her hand in mine and asked "Are you okay? You fainted"

"Yeah its all the exhaustion, and today's EVENTS" she sighed "I heard our old friend dropped by, Did you see him?"

"Yeah, I did"

"And....." she waited.

"I punched him" I shrugged

"Attaboy" she patted my shoulder. She turned towards Arjun and said in a serious business. "So Mr. Arjun Sankar Im here on official Maid of honor duty. "

Arjun was already stunned with our PDA and now this. "what?"

"Im here to inspect, grade and give you tips on Tara tantrums. Because well if you want a long happy marriage." she shrugged. "So lead me to your room please"

"May I do the honours madam?' I let and elbow out and she took it and we walked in medieval style to our room. When we reached our room Maya stopped Arjun at the Threshold.

"ah ah ah. You wait outside. I'll check and then let you in. you follow me" she crooked a finger towards me and walked in.

Arjun raised his eyebrows at me "when did this happen? Are you back together?" He grinned at me.

"not exactly. But seems to be getting there" I did a little dance and ran inside.

The moment I got inside maya pushed me to the door and slammed it close with my back and kissed me.

It was hard and fast and I got shocked for a second, but the next I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her back. I walked her back to the bed and pushed her into it. I slowly entered my tongue to her mouth and she groaned. I peppered kissed across her neck and jaw.

When I moved to her chest, she pushed me away and sat up. She shook her head No. I understood the meaning. We are not there yet.

We were both panting but maya suddenly chuckled and I smiled too. "What was that for?"

"That was for the train. Now you know how it feels when someone rushes you" she breathed through her pants.

I laughed fell back on the bed. "But I kind of liked it"

"Of course you did" She shook her head and grabbed something from her pocket. A tiny notebook.

"you weren't kidding about the grading were you?" I chuckled.

"Nope. I have to report back to bridezilla in an hour."

She started inspecting the room. In our defense this room was set up in a jiffy. Clothes were strewn across the room, Socks shoved under the bed, Bathroom drain clogged with soap fog, And don't even get me started on the underwear pile. She took one look at it and burst out laughing.

"You guys are such typical bachelors, Your room was pretty neat that day I came to your house." she said.

I smiled reminiscing the memory "yeah, it was clean because it was not set up in a single day Ms. inspector"

she hummed and opened the door to let arjun in. And as I expected he was pacing out the door like a father waiting outside a labor room.

"well?" Arjun asked. His eyes flying to me lying on the bed, he smiled playfully but I pointed to the underwear pile and he shut his eyes tightly.

"There are certain things you need to know if you are gonna marry Tara.

1. get a BIG cupboard. She has a shit ton of clothes that wont fit in small cupboards like these. So keep the smaller cupboard for your clothes and bigger one for hers, but she still will sneak clothes into yours.

2. Always have a hefty supply of chocolates. Not only during periods or pregnancy. She gets cranky all the time. But chocolates does the trick.

3. A good WIFI connection. She's a social butterfly and basically survives on snapchat and Instagram."

The list kept going on and on, and arjun started sweating more and more. I was trying so hard not to laugh.

"But most importantly. Give her, her own space. She hates when someone invades her privacy. So there is a lot of things to work on. But I will give you the consideration of not having enough time. So 3.5/10" she smiled and walked out the door, her ponytail swinging with her strides. I burst out laughing and Arjun collapsed on the bed.

"oh and one more thing, there is only 5 days for the Haldi so we have to start preparing. we are gonna need a lot of manpower." she popped her head in through the door and spoke.

"we'll be there" I said. Maya nodded " Don't forget to bring the camera" she waved and left.

I smiled smugly at Arjun. "she's amazing isn't she?"

"Yeah, im thinking if she's this scary, how scary is her sister going to be?" he croaked.

The room erupted with our laughter.

MAYA'S POV

I was walking down the steps of the outhouse after inducing unnecessary fear into Arjun. I felt a sudden pull in my pants. I looked down and saw the little girl I met on the day of the engagement.

"hello there. You're Arya right?" I knelt to reach her eye level.

"ya" she chirped "I am Arya Sankar. " she let her hand out.

I shook it "You're Adhi's sister. he told me about you"

"Really? what did he say?" she sang.

I smiled, realising the similarity I saw on the girl that day. she was adhi's step sister. The 9 year old. She looked so much like Arjun even the dimples.

"He told me he had a beautiful little sister, whom he loves so much" I put and arm around her shoulder and sat down with her on the floor.

She raised her tiny arms to my face and slowly touched my bruised cheek. "What is these marks?"

"oh... Um.. I fell down and got a booboo" I smiled.

"Does it hurt?" her tiny finger slowly rubbed circles on my cheek.

i smiled sadly "No sweetie, Im used to it".

Her big eyes looked at me in confusion, i tickled her and she started giggling. It was the most beautiful sound.

But suddenly i heard footsteps behind. Slow, calculated, draggy footsteps. The footsteps i used to watch out for before turning a corner in college.

"Hello Jeeth," i said without turning around.
