《Back To You (#3)》CHAPTER 7: Dance In The Rain

I fed them the apple and they both looked so adorable while eating.
Half way through feeding them, I felt someone's gaze on me.
I lifted my head and looked towards the door where I found Everette leaning against the doorway, looking at me with a small smile on his face.
Our eyes met and he looked startled for a moment before he cleared his throat and the smile disappeared from his face.
"The meeting is over. We are leaving", he announced.
I nodded and finished feeding the girls. Just then Mr Hamilton walked in and his brows furrowed when he saw Rafe was using my phone.
"Rafe", he said. "Whose phone are you using?"
Rafe looked up and then innocently pointed towards me.
"Mrs Wilbrose", he addressed me. "You shouldn't have given him the phone."
"I wasn't going to give him but...he threatened me with a knife", I admitted sheepishly.
Mr Hamilton's eyes widened and he walked closer to Rafe and snatched my phone from him and handed it to me.
"Say sorry to her", he ordered him.
Rafe pouted angrily and refused to apologise; Mr Hamilton glared at him.
"Sorry", he said.
I ruffled his hair. "It's okay. But don't threaten anyone with a knife again."
He just glared at me and went over to his sisters.
Mr Hamilton again apologised to me personally and I told him to brush it off.
We all got up to leave but stopped when someone entered the room.
"Kids, I am back!", the person said and the children ran to him.
He crouched down and the children went and hugged him.
Mr Hamilton went to him and he got up.
Mr Hamilton placed his hand around hi shoulder and introduced him. "Mr and Mrs Wilbrose, this is my best mate and the captain of the Australian Cricket Team, Nelson Andrews."
Everette and I shook his hand, introducing ourselves.
Mr Andrews turned to the kids and said, "Let's go everyone!"
He picked up the girls in his arms as Rafe followed him out.
Mr Hamilton sighed deeply in relief and Everette and I said our goodbyes.
.
.
.
I did visit Sydney Opera House yesterday but that was in the afternoon. It looks even more beautiful in the evening. And I was really happy that Everette brought me here.
We spent the whole evening visiting different places and at last, we stopped by Sydney Opera House.
He has already removed the coat and has rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt making him look more hot.
Anyway...
I wanted to have a picture with Everette with the Sydney Opera House in the background.
I looked around and spotted a couple and I ran to them and giving them my phone, requested them to click my picture.
They nodded happily and I ran back to Everette and held his hand.
"Smile", I said pointing towards the phone.
I expected him to protest but he didn't, instead he wrapped his hand around my waist, pulling me closer and we both smiled for the picture.
The couple came to us after clicking the picture and handing the phone to me they complimented, "You both look great together. Made for each other."
I smiled politely at them as my cheeks turned red; I didn't even look at Everette to see his reaction.
We were walking away when I said, "I am hungry."
"I want food", I continued to say.
"Something delicious. I am so hungry--"
"I already heard you", he cut me off boorishly.
I scowled at him. "You don't need to be rude."

Ignoring my statement he asked, "What do you want to eat?"
My mood lifted. "Chinese!"
.
.
.
We took a seat at the table set at the rooftop of the restuarant from where the view was amazing; you could see the sea at the distance and the Sydney Opera House.
I was still admiring the view when someone cleared his throat. I turned my attention to Everette and found a waiter standing there.
He was so cute. Like really. He was smiling and had dimples on his cheeks.
He introduced himself. "I'm Alberto and I will be your waiter tonight."
I smiled in response and he handed us the menu, his attention mainly on me.
He went away giving us time to decide the dishes.
I decided what I wanted to eat and closed the menu and looked at Everette who also seemed to have decided what he wanted to eat.
He called for Alberto and he was here within a second.
"Did you decide what you want to have?", he directed his question to me, with that adorable smile still plastered on his face.
I gave him my order and he took Everette's too after which he went away.
I sighed and focused my attention to Everette who was already scrutinizing my face.
"So...umm...you are a self-made billionaire?", I said in a failed attempt to start a conservation.
"Yes", he said in a monotone. "Gareth and I started the company from scratch ten years back. We worked day and night to reach here."
"Oh", I whispered. He doesn't seem to be much interested in a conversation considering the way he spoke.
I sighed and again looked at the view. Why am I sighing so much?
All I ever wanted was to start my own restuarant and marry my first love. But destiny seems to have other plans.
I never wanted to marry a billionaire, I just wanted to marry that boy with those deep blue eyes. Whenever I think about him it bring tears to my eyes. I don't know where he is or how he is or...or is he even alive?
My thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of our food. Alberto placed our food on the table and giving me one last smile, went away.
I moaned taking a bite of the chilli garlic noodles and Everette gave me a weird look.
I glared at him. "What?"
He shook his head. "Nothing."
I took another bite of the noodles and moaned again and he scowled at me. "Stop moaning."
"What? It's delicious."
"Stop it or else I will give you a better reason to moan."
I almost choked at his words and my cheeks burnt with embarrassment.
I stopped moaning and quietly ate my noodles.
He smirked at my reaction and resumed eating.
Jerk!
We finished our food in silence and the plate were taken away by Alberto and Everette handed him his credit card.
He returned and handed Everette his card back he again smiled at me and said. "Goodbye. Have a nice evening."
"Bye, Alberto!", I said and he gave me a dazzling smile showing his teeth and I almost swoon.
We got up to leave and Everette seemed to have a permanent scowl plastered on his face.
He wrapped his hand tightly around my waist and dragged me out of the restaurant.
We both got inside the car and he still had scowl on his face and jaw was clenched and palm was folded into a fist and he was looking out of the window.

The silence inside the car was killing me so I finally asked, "Are you angry with me?"
He was still looking out of the window. "No."
"You are. What did I do?"
His jaw clenched even more and turned to me and inched his face closer.
"Would you like if I randomly go and flirt with a waiter?", he spat.
"Flirt? What do you mean?"
"Aeryn", he said in a firm tone. "You were flirting with that waiter while me, your husband was sitting right in front of you."
"I...I... wasn't flirting. I was just being friendly", I defended myself.
"I am not blind, Aeryn."
I chuckled nervously. "Why does it even bother you? And...I liked his smile, that's it. It is not a big deal."
His eyes furiously searched mine. "I am your husband, Aeryn."
"So?", I asked foolishly.
"Get this thing straight. You are married to me, you are bound to me and I won't tolerate you flirting with other men."
My mouth slightly parted. "You are jealous", I stated in a surprise tone.
He was taken aback by my words and he cleared his throat sitting back straight. "I am not."
I folded my arms. "Yes, you are."
"Shut up, Aeryn."
"Everette Wilbrose is jealous", I sang.
His head snapped to me and brought his face very close to mine, his breath tickled my lips. The tip of our noses brushed against each other.
"Shut your mouth, Aeryn or I'll shut it myself", he whispered; I could feel his words touching my lips.
And then he instantly pulled back.
His actions left me quite stunned to speak anything.
I silently sat there looking out of the window as the clouds rumbled and a lightning struck somewhere.
The road was empty, it was getting late at night when it started raining all of a sudden.
A smile formed on my face as the rain poured. I gently tapped the driver's shoulder. "Can you please stop the car?"
That caught Everette's attention. "What are you doing?"
"You will see."
Glaring at me he said to the driver, "Don't stop the car."
"Please!", I whined. "Please, stop the car."
The driver got nervous not knowing who to listen to.
I joined both my palms and literally begged him to stop the car and thankfully he parked the car at the side of the road.
Everette was giving me a deathly glare but ignoring him, I got out of the car.
The rain was pouring heavily and within seconds I was drenched from head to toe.
I stretched out my hands and threw my head back, feeling the rain drops on my face while slowly moving in circles.
I heard the car's door open and Everette stepped out with an umbrella.
"Aeryn, get inside the car", he ordered.
I grinned innocently. "No!"
He walked closer so that I was under the umbrella along with him.
I tried shoving him away but he didn't bulge.
"Just get inside, Aeryn", he said again and I frowned.
Exasperatedly I threw my hands up in the air and it hit the umbrella, the impact caused it to fall from his hand down on the road.
I giggled. "Oops."
He narrowed his eyes, the rain drenching him too. His hair became wet and rain drops fell down on his face making him look sexy despite the fact he was ready to kill me.
I took a step back and jumped around enjoying the rain and swirled around.
Everette was about to pick up the umbrella but I grabbed his hand, preventing him.
He yanked himself out of my hold. "I told you to not touch me."
My lips pressed into a thin line. "Why it is not a problem when you touch me but a problem when I touch you?"
"I have my reasons."
"Then you can shove your reasons up your ass", I retorted. "I will touch you, no matter what."
I took a few steps back and didn't let him affect my mood.
I again threw my head back and felt the rain drops on my face, lifting up my spirits promptly.
My mood changes very quickly and that's what happened because I went to Everette who was still standing in the rain, watching me carefully. His white shirt being wet, clung to his torso outlining his abs and and biceps.
I gulped and walked to him and held both of his palms in my hands.
"Come on, Everette", I urged. "Dance with me."
I then slowly intertwined my left hand with his right and placed my right hand over his shoulder.
He didn't make an effort to move. He was scrutinizing my face.
A minute passed by and we were still standing in that position; I felt rejected. Feeling embarrassed, I gulped and slowly detached myself from him but before I could do that, his left hand slipped around my waist and gradually his grip tightened and his right hand's fingers firmly intertwined with mine.
A small gasp escaped my lips as he pulled me closer, heat radiating from his body despite the rain pouring around us.
I bit my lips to stop my lips from curling up into a smile.
Our feets moved together at a leisurely pace, the sound of the rain drops hitting the road provided a music.
He slowly twirled me around and caught me back.
The intensity at which he was staring in my eyes scared me.
His grip around my waist tightened even more and he pulled me closer erasing the distance between us.
"How can you be so happy?", he whispered.
I opened my mouth to answer but nothing came out.
"Are you really happy with this marriage?", he asked in disbelief.
Our bodies and feets moved together in a rythmatic movement.
"I am not happy", I answered in a whisper. "I didn't want this marriage either."
"You always look happy; always jumping around", he stated.
"You don't always need a reason to be happy and besides...I have accepted this marriage. Like you said, I am bound to you now. I guess this is what destiny wanted and I can't do anything about it."
"And...", I added. "I married you mainly because of Carmel. I don't know what magic you casted on her, she likes you so much. She was delighted to know that I was marrying you. She needed a father, so, I married you."
His jaw clenched. "What if...what if someday we get a divorce?"
"If that's what destiny wants then I have no problem."
"You believe in destiny a lot." He leaned forward and rested his forehead against mine and closed his eyes. "Destiny is not always fair to us."
"That's what destiny is. It's not always fair but we can do nothing but accept it."
He sighed heavily and leaned backed. Our bodies came to a still, his hand slipped away from my waist and he took a step back.
"Can we go back now? Or you want to spend the night here?", he said sharply.
I nodded before following him inside the car.
