The afternoon went on like forever. I just want to leave the room and go to the library and make my assignment.. and listen to Jaehyun tutoring Nox. I groaned for the nth time and placed my head on my desk.
"Are-" I raised a palm at Yejin. "I am fine. I just want this hell hole to end." Yejin shrugged and nodded. "I can highly relate to that." She said and wrote down on her notebook, not because she is copying something.
The current student teacher finally said goodbye and left, making it Mathematics now. I stretched my arms. "Yej, did you make your assignment?" I asked. "Yup. It's a miracle I actually cared about my grades." She said, earning a laugh from me.
"Jaehyun hyung's here. Hurry to your seats, he looks scary. Sike." Yuta announced and immediately went to his seat. When his buttocks made contact with his chair, Jaehyun stepped inside our room.
And guess what? My classmates turned their heads at me with the same smirks. Even Yejin, who shoos them away, looked at me like I was in a scandal. I glared at all of them and they looked at Jaehyun.
"Jaehyun hyung, regards from Jaeshin."
"Jaehyun and Jaeshin."
"Ey, Jaeshi~n."
Because of my name mentions, Jaehyun looked at me. I was expecting for him to smile but instead, he just opened the Math book he was carrying. "Okay, let's start, shall we?"
My classmates nodded while I was left dumb-founded. There I am again, spacing out and just staring at his beautiful figure.
He told us to take out our graphing notebooks and I immediately took mine out. We flipped open to where we answered the day before and we checked our answers.
The whole class was in a good mood.

"Who wants to answer question number two?" Jaehyun asked and no one raised their hands. "Okay. Last man, first man, last man, first man.." He continued. "Last man column number three!"
The column that he mentioned was in Yejin's column. I didn't see Yejin sitting on her chair. Instead, I saw her behind her chair, hiding. Jaehyun saw her nonetheless.
"You." Yejin sighed and stood up. She went to the board, snatched the chalk from Jaehyun and answered the question. She threw back the chalk and sat back beside me. "Why does he gotta be so tall?" She rolled her eyes.
I chuckled and I didn't realize that my column was called. It was last man and I was the only one sitting on my chair. Jaehyun smiled why my classmates started squealing.
"Go and answer the question already, Jaeshin~."
"Don't be shy, Jaeshin~."
"Wew~."
I sent them glares again before standing up and slowly walked to the front. I was taking small steps and they started to get annoyed. "What, you're in you two's wedding?" They shushed Doyoung and I felt someone push me.
I almost tripped but thankfully, fortunately, and unfortunately, Jaehyun caught me. My head was resting on his chest while his arms are around my torso. My classmates cheered and squealed.
I immediately collected myself and pulled away from Jaehyun's touch. I'm so sure that my face is now red. My hands trembled as I reached out to the chalk that is on Jaehyun's finger.
When I touched to pull it out, the tip of my finger made contact with his, sending an unfamiliar shock through me. I also snatched the chalk out of his finger and wrote my answer in my trembled hand-writing.
I was gonna go back to my seat when Jaehyun grabbed my arm. My classmates made those howling noises again. "Excuse me, but I can't understand your hand-writing." He said and heck, his face was so close.

I pulled my arm back. "I-I'm sorry." I took the chalk again and erased my answer with my hand. I wrote down again with my original writing and placed the chalk on the table. I rushed towards my chair and all eyes were on me.
The answering of questions went on until we were on question number five. "Who wants to answer?" The whole class said, "Jaeshin!"
"Stop it!" I said to all of them but they didn't listen to me. I covered my face with my hands and looked down, avoiding everyone's gaze. Later, we heard a clap.
"Okay, goodbye, class!"
"Goodbye, Jaehyun hyung!"
"See you tomorrow?"
Tomorrow? Oh, no.
I slowly looked up and saw my friends gathering around me. "Jaeshin, what happened?" They asked and gave me that look, as always. "Math class happened." I said and packed my things.
Yejin nudged me then Bora until they were all teasing me. "Stop it, you guys." I said in almost a whisper. I wore my bag and stood up, leaving the room. "Wait up!" I rolled my eyes when I heard Bora.
I stopped walking until Bora was beside me. We started walking again and we went to the canteen to claim Bora's ice candy bucket. It's her mother's business. When we got there, she went to get it while I waited for her in one of the tables.
I heard those familiar voices and I wanted to hide myself, but it was too late for that. Jaehyun and Nox came in the canteen and Nox paused in his place, looking at me. "Jaehyun hyung, there is that girl from the library." He said, pointing at me.
Jaehyun looked at me and we made eye contact. I immediately looked away and I heard him chuckle. "Maybe she's just waiting for someone." He said and dragged the little kid to the counter.
Bora went out from the counter and called me. I rushed towards her, making her almost fall. "Woah, slow down. Why are you in a hurry?" She asked. I pointed behind me and she smirked.
She then dragged me outside the cafeteria. "You know, you better tell him-" I pinched her side. "I'm not telling him.. not yet. So, shut up."
"Yeah, okay."

World Story: Biographies of Extraordinary People
Important note: I’d like to thank Dr. Buller for their advice on dialogue by their critical review. And I’m on a one-month break to post the first revised chapters on Scribble Hub. Please stay tuned! Even in faraway worlds, every folk had a story, and monsters came in numerous shapes and sizes. However, heroes never existed in this otherworld. Even the most idealistic understood this deep within. But as they abandoned their humanity at times, they quickly regained it. It was not that they became human again. They always were. So what happened when the monster devoid of humanity appeared? Well, the “heroes” sought to slay it at all costs either way, lest it would be the end of their stories. A portal/isekai fantasy that I wanted to deconstruct some elements within. Expect a whole ton of references and dialogue because I’ll deliberately write it more like a light novel. The last thing to consider is that Japanese names in my novel will come with kanji/hiragana characters within parentheses. The same goes for any other derived from non-Latin writing systems. It’s because none of the names I write will be accidental or random. They’ll all have meaning. New chapters Monday to Thursday at 11:00 PM (GMT+8), though sometimes I can’t. Credit for the cover art goes to HWPerfidy. She’s a freelance artist on this site, and I’d love anyone who shows her support.

Vendor of Spirits
A warlock once made a pact with the Powers Above. He snuck in a clause that resurrected him whenever he died, with all his memories intact. He lived for thousands of years in a hundred different bodies, changing the world into a dystopian regime where he could freely pursue his passions: alcohol, television and ducks. This made the Powers Above very angry, so they erased his memories and reincarnated him as a simple barmaid in a sleepy village where she could do no harm. I don’t know any of this, of course. I just find it very annoying that she’s chosen me to tag along with.
