《His Midnight Angel》Chapter 27

(Michael's POV)
I watched in slow motion as the knife entered her body. She didn't move. She let out a gasp but that was it.
"ALEX!" I screamed and ran toward her. Alex fell away from Adelphi. Adelphi laughing hysterically fell to the ground. Troy rushed to her. I held Alex close to me.
"Someone get a doctor!!" Daniel screamed.
"No..." I heard her soft voice. I looked down and into her silver eyes. "Please don't..." she said.
"But..."
"It's time Jasper. I've done what I set out to do. This was always the plan..." she whispered.
I looked over toward Troy and Adelphi. He was crying and holding her in his arms. She was dead.
"I can... I can go home now."
"You are home... with all of us, you can choose to stay... with us. With Jessie, Margo, Daniel, Josh, and me... you can stay with me." I looked at her beautiful eyes. They were filling up with tears.
"Oh Jasper... it's not that simple." She was shivering by now. No! There was so much I never got to say to her... It was so much.
"Please Alex I can't do this with out you. I love you... so much"
"I love you too..."
"Don't die on me"
"Oh but to die... would be an awfully big adventure." She said with a slight smile.
(Alexandra's POV)
"Oh but to die... would be an awfully big adventure." I said to him with a slight smile. The pain! It hurt so much. I looked into his beautiful eyes. A light was appearing in my vision. It looked so... warm. I was so cold.
"I'm cold...please hold me." I felt him tighten his grip around me. "Just until the pain stops."
"Of course..."I looked at him. I remembered so much. There were some lifetimes that I never found him. But there were others that we did find each other. We were happiest in those lives.
The light grew bigger and brighter and warmer. I felt the warmth on my face. How nice it is. The pain was slowly leaving. I couldn't feel Jasper's arms anymore. I looked down and saw him holding my body. I was still breathing but barely. I looked over at Troy and Adelphi. Adelphi was dead. Her body lay still as he sobbed over her corpse.
I looked toward the light. The big beautiful light. A figure walked out of it. Artemis.
She smiled warmly at me. She was as beautiful as I remembered. With her moonbeam hair, and bright blue eyes.
"You did it." She whispered to me. Tears were streaming down her face.
"I did it."
"You can come home now. You can forget if you'd like."
"I don't want to forget. I want to remember him, I want to be with him..."
"Don't worry Alex. He'll be home soon." She said kindly toward me.

"I wish... I had said goodbye."
"You can but not in the physical sense. We're centuries. Our bodies dissolve into the earth. But we have the ability to walk among dreams."
"I want... I want to go home."
"Then let's go, you've been away long enough."
She took my hand and together we walked on toward the light.
(Michael's POV)
I watched as the light left her eyes. She stared blankly at a spot above my head. I felt the tears in my eyes and my throat close up. I couldn't hold it in. I let the sob rip out from my chest. I lost it. I looked up at Troy. He was sobbing over his dead mothers body. All I saw was red. I stood up and gently laid her body down. I stalked over to him and pulled him to his feet.
"She's dead... because of you." I growled out. With out thinking I snapped his neck. His body dropped to the floor like a rag doll.
I turned back toward her dead body. Her skin looked lifeless. Daniel, Margo, Josh and Jessie were surrounding her. Jessie lost it first. She crumpled to the ground and slumped over her dead body balling her eyes out. Next went Margo. Then Josh. Josh fell to the ground. He wasn't crying but he was mumbling something inaudible. I walked closer to him.
"Oh my god... she's gone. I'm... I'm a failure."
Daniel just stood there. There was no reaction. He just looked numb. I walked to her body.
"Does anyone know anything about centuries?" I said quietly. They were mostly extinct here. They were hunted down. When a century dies their body vanishes into the ground. It's very rare that one dies but when it does, the earth mourns their death. I lifted her up into my arms she seemed so light. I walked away from the battle field. No way was I gonna lay her to rest in a place that only brought grief. So I walked with her in my arms. Her blood soaking and staining my t-shirt. I finally came to a small clearing. There was a willow tree. Willow trees were always her favorite...
I laid her down at the base. Her eyes were still staring vacantly into space. I closed them gently. Now she looked like she was sleeping. She looked so calm in death. As if she was ready to face anything anyone through in her way.
I heard a noice behind me. I turned my attention quickly behind me. It was the guys. They had all followed me. I turned my attention back to Alex's body.
"Look..." Margo whispers softly.
She was disappearing. Her body joined the earth. Flowers grew where she once lay. They were violets. Alex's favorite. I lost it. I crumpled to the ground and sobbed. I sobbed for what felt like hours. Jessie came up to me and hugged me. I cried into her shoulder. Finally I managed to calm down. The others had left, except for Jessie and Josh. We stumbled our way through the forest and back to the cabin. I don't remember anything. I don't remember getting in bed and I don't remember falling asleep.

I was standing in a clear field. The same field that Alex was 'buried' in. The sky was clear and the weather was perfect. And before me stood Alex. Her long black hair was free, she was wearing a long elegant dress made of shinny silver fabric. Her silver eyes looked at me.
"Alex?" I whispered.
"Jasper."
"How? Is this real?"
"Yes." She laughed at me.
I ran toward her and hugged her. She was so small. I picked her up and swung her around. She was laughing, her laugh was like music to my ears. I could listen to it all day. When I set her down I brought her face to mine and I kissed her.
It was sweet. And it was electrical.
She pulled away.
"Jasper." She said to me. "We need to talk."
Uh oh...
"Jasper. I'm dead now. At least I am in your dimension. My place is here. And I think you know that. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't have stayed."
"This isn't real... is it? This is just in my head."
"Of course it's in your head... but why should that mean it's not real?" Did she just...
"Did you just quote Harry Potter?"
"Yes. But there is still much to talk about."
"Ok I'm listening."
"There is an unbalance between the dimensions... only two of the three centuries returned. Three must come back. Otherwise chaos will ensue. Do you know what happened to the centuries on earth? "
"No..."
"They were hunted down by the supernatural world. The other species were jealous of the centuries power, so they were hunted down and slaughtered. Because of this, Artemis passed a decree that ensured that no harm would come to anymore centuries. With the loss of one Century caused an imbalance. Because two of the three died in that dimension, the earth will revolt. Mother Nature will explode. Fires, hurricanes, storms, and natural disaster you can think of will happen."
"So... who's the third Century?"
"You."
"Me?!"
"It's time to come home Jasper. And you can do it. But it's time... come home to me."
"But.. what about my friends and family?"
"You can make them forget if you'd like, but this needs to be done..."
"Can I... can I say goodbye?"
"Of course."
I jumped awake. I looked at the clock, 5:30. I looked over and saw that Daniel's bed was empty. I got up and walked into the kitchen. Everyone was awake. They all looked at me. Caution registering on their faces.
"How did you guys sleep?"
"Fine, I had a weird dream though." Said Margo.
"Same... guys... we need to talk." Jessie met my eyes and I saw that she had been crying.
"You have to leave. Alex told me.." shock crossed their faces as Jessie said this.
"Yeah..."
"Then let me say goodbye to my big brother, and then you can be on your merry way."
She stood up and walked toward me. She looked up into my eyes. Her bright green eyes and bright red hair caught my attention, just as it always did.
"Micheal or Jasper which ever it is. Your my big brother... I never imagined you leaving. I pictured you walking me down the isle at my wedding and you watching my kids. I pictured you getting married and starting a family. I always thought you would be there. Alex explained everything to me. You have to go home to her. It sucks but you have to..." by the time she had finished she was out of breathe.
"I'm sorry Sessie... I love you. Your my little sister and never in a million years did I think this would happen. I never imagined my dead girlfriend telling me I'm from another dimension." I laughed at the irony.
"Well I guess this is goodby then Mikey..."
"I guess so Sessie..." she hugged me one last time. Tears streaming down her face. She released me and stepped back. I moved on to Margo.
"Please. Watch yourself." I said as I hugged her.
"I will." She replied.
I moved on to Daniel. I hugged him tight. "You are my brother. We've been through everything together... and now your not going to be with me as I travel on..."
"I'll always be with you. Your my brother in arms, my best friend. My brother from another mother. We've been inseparable since birth, now it's time to separate."
"Good bye."
"Good bye." they all said back. I kissed Jessie on the forehead and turned away and left. Just before I stepped out of the cabin I turned back.
"I love you."
"I love you too.."
I walked out of the cabin and ran straight into Jack and Josh.
"Going somewhere?"
"Home. Josh you better look after her or I swear to god I will kill you myself. "
"Got it."
I walked on. I walked until I came to the clearing with the willow.
"I'm ready..." I whispered. I laid down under the willow. And closed my eyes. A bright light appeared before me. Alex walked out.
"Come on... let's go home."
She grabbed my hand and we ran. We ran like there was no tomorrow. The light swallowed us whole. And together we ran into our next adventure.

A Cleric's Life for me.
This is a casually written story loosely based on TTRPG games like DnD and Pathfinder. The attempt of the story is to have a slow growth in power and comical set of characters who eventually grow close and set off for more serious adventures. There will be plenty of familiars and funny tales that don't involve combat. The intention is not to be a goody-two-shoes cleric story where nothing bad happens. The intention for this story was a slow paced grungy story where everything seemed great at first and things just kept getting worse. I learned how shitty of a story that is to write and honestly I am just not good enough to get the idea down. I plan on revisiting it later.
