The Avengers -and Vex- trudged through the snow. The cold bothered some but others didn't really seem to mind. The snow was deep though and it became harder to walk as they continued.
"When are we going to-"
"Stark, you're up," Steve announced, cutting Natasha off.
Everyone stopped and watched as Tony flew forward, blowing everyone's hair back. Steve turned to the rest of the team and pressed his earpiece.
"Look, does everyone know what the plan is?" He asked, looking at everyone.
"Kill everyone while Mr. Stark finds the scepter," Vex answered, a bright smile on her face.
"Alright then," Bruce murmured, looking at her with slight shock. "I thought I was the crazy."
"Bruce, go do your thing," Steve ordered, pointing to a large tree a long distance away.
Bruce sighed but made his way over to the tree. All of a sudden, an alarm sounded. The team looked at each other for a split second before they looked straight forward again.
"Natasha, stay with Clint," Steve commanded, strapping his helmet on and running off.
Clint pulled Natasha with him and they ran off together. Vex stood there, not knowing what to do.
Steve stopped while he was running and made a face. "Dammit," he muttered, turning around.
Vex, not being able to see Steve, let her purple magic hit him. He flew back a couple of feet and Vex gasped, running to his side.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" She apologized, her small hands fumbling as she tried to help him. "I thought you were the enemy I couldn't see you! Why were you running?"
"You okay Cap?" Clint asked through the earpiece.
Steve nodded even though Clint couldn't see him. "I'm fine Barton," he reassured him.
Vex furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Who are you talking to?" She asked.

Steve sighed, not noticing that Vex was straddling him at the moment. He pulled an earpiece out of his pocket and reached for her ear.
Instinctively, Vex moved away. Steve grabbed her arm and showed her the earpiece. "It's an earpiece, that's how we all communicate with each other," he explained quickly.
Vex nodded and let him put the earpiece in. She stood up and helped him, looking around.
"They're coming your way!" Stark announced, pulling everyone out of their daze.
As if on cue, a bunch of men appeared out of nowhere. Some were on foot, some were on motorcycles, and some were in jeeps. There were even men in tanks.
"You ready?" Steve asked, looking down at Vex.
"Oh we were born ready!" Stark yelled.
"I wasn't talking to you," Steve muttered, rolling his eyes. He gripped his shield a bit harder and sent Vex one final glance before he ran forward.
Sucking in a deep breath, Vex closed her eyes. "You're doing this to help people," she told herself, repeating the sentence over and over out loud.
"Vex, you've got like twenty men surrounding you!" Steve shouted. "I'd hate to be the one to say this but stop praying!"
"I'm not praying," she said, her voice completely calm as she kept her eyes closed.
The men surrounding her came even closer and Steve looked on with wide eyes as he tried to take down the men coming after him.
"Vex!" He shouted.
"Give me a minute," she pleaded softly.
"We don't have a minute!" Steve shouted back, annoyed. "Vex, do something!"
He didn't get a response and he groaned. "Vex, you are-"
Before he could finish, Vex's eyes shot open, revealing purple irises. She let her magic seep out of her hands and as it left, it picked up speed and attached itself to the men.

"I told you to give me a minute," Vex smiled, pressing her earpiece closer to her ear.
"You are crazy," Steve muttered, his eyes wide with shock as he shook his head. "Don't ever do that again! I thought you were going to die!"
"Were you worried Mr. Rogers?" Vex questioned teasingly.
"I worry about everyone on my team," he replied, not looking at her as she came to his side.
"But I'm not on your team," Vex pointed out. "I'm just helping you out."
Steve stuttered as he tried to come up with something to retort with. Vex smirked. "Face it Mr. Rogers-"
"On your left!" Steve interrupted, throwing his shield behind her.
Vex turned around and saw that he had taken out ten men. When she looked back at Steve, he held his arm out, the shield attaching itself to the metal.
"Pay attention," he ordered, running off.
"You are so boring," she snapped, taking down a couple more men.
"Are you going to keep talking or are you going to get on the motorcycle?" Steve asked, impatient.
Vex rolled her eyes but got into the back of the motorcycle, wrapping her arms around his waist so she wouldn't fall off.
"When I throw my shield, you shoot at it," Steve instructed. "Then when it falls you catch it. As soon as you catch, jump off! Got it?"
"Yeah, I guess," Vex shrugged. Steve rolled his eyes in annoyance.
He threw up his shield and tapped Vex's thigh, gesturing for her to complete her part. She quickly raised her hand and let a large purple blast of magic hit the shield.
The magic ricochet off the shield and hit all of the surrounding men.
"Shit! It's like the Fourth of July up in here!" Tony shouted, watching the purple magic spread into the air.
"Language!" Steve scolded sternly.
"Did you just say-"
Before Vex could finish, Steve pushed her off the motorcycle and jumped off himself, throwing it at the car that was in front of them.
He went over to Vex and helped her up, mumbling a small apology. She shrugged it off and looked at the shield with interest.
Steve held his hand out and raised an eyebrow. "I thought you didn't like the shield?" He questioned.
Vex pursed her lips, slowly handing him back the shield, causing him to smile slightly.
"Um excuse me, are we just going to pretend like Cap didn't just say 'language'?" Tony interrupted.
Vex laughed and Steve shrugged. "It just slipped out," he defended simply.
"What about the fact that he suddenly knows how to flirt?" He added.
Steve coughed, his face turning a bright red. Vex chuckled at his current state, only causing him more embarrassment.
"Don't you have a job to do?" Steve questioned, annoyed.
"Of course, and I've done it perfectly," Tony replied, smiling brightly to himself.
"I really can't stand him," Steve muttered bitterly.
"Clint's injured," Natasha stated, pressing her earpiece to her ear.
"There's a fast bastard running around somebody kill it!" Clint hissed.
Vex looked around and saw a blur of silver and blue. She narrowed her eyes as the blur came towards her and Steve. Vex put out a protective shield, the purple forcefield knocking the blur into a tree.
"What the hell is that?" Vex questioned, watching as the blur ran off.
"Steve! She said a bad language word!" Tony teased, making his voice sound like a six year old's.
Vex burst into laughter and Steve sighed, placing his hands on his hips. "I'm never going to live that down am I?" He asked, pursing his lips in annoyance.
