RECAP:
"alright, well. in the netflix series, richie and eddie, get, well, really close."
jack nodded.
"they end up kissing."
jack's mouth fell open.
"o-oh," he stuttered, quickly trying to save himself. "that's- cool. that's cool. i didn't know stephen king would ever agree to that romance."
jack always liked the idea of reddie. it was cute, and he thought finn and himself had portrayed the little gays almost perfectly. he had enjoyed acting out their quarrels for the first two movies.
andy nodded, giving them a big smile. "it's truly a little side romance, since a lot of our viewers in the first and second movies live for reddie, as a romantic item. you two are such passionate actors and i know you can pull this off. however, as i mentioned, chemistry is always important."
finn and jack nodded.
"which is why i'm going to have you two share a room together."

"that's-that's perfect." finn said, much to jack's surprise. jack looked at him for a moment before turning back to andy, biting his lip. andy had a huge grin on his face, and he quickly wrapped finn and jack into a hug. "there's my two best friends. i missed you guys."
andy let go of the boys and headed to the stairs, motioning them to come with. jack shook his head, and gave andy a small smile. "we're taking the elevator; it's much quicker. race ya!"
jack grabbed finn's wrist and darted across the lobby to the elevator, pressing the button quickly and impatiently waiting for it to open. he turned to finn, looking up at him, a sudden feeling of courage washing over him.
"are you sure rooming is a good idea?"
"no," finn admitted, taking jack by surprise. "but- i miss my best friend."
jack stayed silent for a moment, looking into finn's eyes, trying to detect what the other boy was feeling, and wondered if he was feeling the same things jack had been feeling these past couple days.
"i miss us too, finn."
finn sighed in relief, before almost getting trampled by a cranky lady stepping outside the elevator. the pair split quickly, letting the people get off the elevator, but never breaking eye contact. finn didn't want to take his eyes off of jack now; he was afraid he would vanish before his eyes and finn would realize he was just dreaming this all. but soon enough, jack was grabbing his wrist again and pulling him into the elevator.

"so, we truce? we're okay now?"
"were we ever not okay?" finn chuckled.
jack shrugged, smiling slightly. "i don't know. things just changed between us when-"
"yeah." finn interrupted, almost as if jack was about to swear. that's what jack hated; yes, they had kissed. but kissed wasn't a dirty word, and they had both wanted it. or, at least, he had wanted it. god, jack had wanted it more than ever.
"do you regret it?" jack blurted out, looking up at finn. "do you hate me?"
"what? i could never hate you, jack."
"then why?"
"why what!?
"why are you so cruel?"
jack's voice cracked at that last part, and he felt a lump in his throat, almost like he was about to cry. finn carefully pulled jack into a hug, letting the younger boy wrap his arms around him, just like how they had hugged when they first met up.
"i don't regret anything, jack." finn whispered, closing his eyes. jack took a shaky breath, nodding his head, tightening his grip on finn.
however, the moment was interrupted when the elevator door dinged open.
finn and jack quickly broke apart, glad to see there was no one else waiting outside the door. they both exited the elevator, walking side by side down the hallway towards the apartment, and staying silent. it wasn't an awkward silence, but a peaceful one, and both of them enjoyed the time to think, even if it was just for a few seconds.
finn had only knocked once when the door was suddenly threw open, jeremy standing there. he smiled at the two and dragged them in, where they were immediately greeted by all their friends and family.
everyone was there, doing one chore or another. the parents were mostly cleaning, putting things away last minute and picking up garbage. wyatt and sophia were nowhere to be seen, but chosen and jaeden were playing some foreign game on their phones.
"hi, angel." jack felt a quick kiss on his forehead, and he smiled, looking at his mom. "where were you boys?"
"just looking around," jack lied, looking at finn. "this place is awesome!"
he wasn't lying about that. jack was only standing in the kitchen, and it already looked amazing. finn's mom and jaeden's mom decided to give finn and jack a tour, while the other parents finished up.

the apartment was laid out a bit strangely, but it was also super cool. jack and finn's room was next to jaeden and wyatt's, which was nice. jack hoped jaeden and wyatt would be okay rooming together; he still didn't even know what had happened between them. he remembered he had promised finn to talk to jaeden about it, and he quickly made a mental note.
-
(okay, so, i have a layout of the apartment, and i'll add a picture of it right here. i just needed it to help me picture the apartment as i wrote, and i think it'll be helpful to you guys.)
(now, continuing!)
-
once the mini tour was wrapped up, and jack and finn met up with their other friends, (sophia and wyatt had joined everyone else again,) jack couldn't help but feel more excited. it was hard to believe he was staying here, in a beautiful apartment, filming with his best friends like he was only a couple years ago. in the span of not even a day, the group was already growing closer. he hoped it would stay like that, and just keep getting better.
before jack knew it, everyone was saying their goodbyes. their parents had unpacked all their things into their rooms, or at least, all the things they had. most of their clothes were still being shipped from their home, but even so, a lot of them would have to go shopping for part of a new wardrobe. it was simply too much work for everyone to bring their whole closet to toronto,
angela looked over at jack, hugging him in a motherly way, that made jack feel at home, and like he would be okay. he was 16 now, he didn't need his mom with him anymore when he had a nightmare, or felt sick in the middle of the night. but it was still nice to know she was there. in this case, mama roo and all the other losers' clubs parents were staying in the hotel across the street for a bit. they had decided it wasn't worth it to stay in apartments. andy and barbara would be living a floor beneath the teenagers, however, so they weren't completely alone, and would always have someone watching them.
"be good, alright?" jack nodded, looking at his mother and giving her one last kiss on the cheek.
"i'll see you tomorrow, alright mama roo? i love you."
"i love you too." angela smiled, pinching her sons cheeks before shuffling her way out of the apartment. the other parents had already left, so she was the last one to go.
chosen, sophia and wyatt immediately started teasing jack for his relationship with his mom, and jack just rolled his eyes in a joking manner, ignoring their comments. "i just love my mom!" he argued, laughing.
"yes, your mama roo!" sophia giggled, ruffling jack's hair.
on the other hand, finn thought it was adorable how close jack was with his mom. finn was close with his parents, but not as close as jack and angela were.
after the teasing died down, it initially set in that the teenagers were finally alone. they could do anything they wanted; but instead, they chose to gather around in the living room, thinking back on the day. sophia and jaeden squeezed into the armchair, chosen, finn, and wyatt took the couch, and jeremy and jack opted to lay on the floor, surfing through he channels on the tv as they listening to the others talking.
"i think we should play a game," jaeden spoke up. "or do something to pass the time."
a grin suddenly formed on sophia's face. she looked at the boys, a sort of twinkle in her eye.
"never have i ever."

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
