《The Last Set || Sugawara x Reader ||》What A Mess

Was I jealous?
I insert a coin into the vending machine, it makes a small 'clug' sound before releasing the fizzy drink I just bought. I bend down and pick it up. It opens with a 'fizz' sound and I drink it while leaning back on the gym wall. I can see glimpses of the sun peaking out of the large grey clouds.
Looks like it's going to rain.
I take another sip as you wait for Hinata at the side of the gym. I thought about what (F/N) said this morning: 'He's my Ex-crush'.
What does that mean. Does she like him? Or is it the other way around? Do they both like each other? Now that they're both in volleyball club, will they get together?!
I tap nervously on my soda can. In the distance I see the orange headed boy jump up and down towards me with a white volleyball in his hand. I smile at him and I put my drink down to the side. I had to make up the missed practice and Daichi said that Hinata needed help with receives.
I mean after what just happened yesterday with (F/N), it wouldn't hurt to help the little boy. Wow, I'm still thinking about (F/N). I can't get her out of my head. Focus Suga.
"SUGAWARA!!! I WANT TO BE BETTER AT RECEIVES!" he said with determination. He came running to me with his mouth wide open. His determination was contagious as you nod at his request.
"I tell you what, once we're done, you'll be so good at receives that you'll be able to send back one of (F/N)'s spikes."
Yup, she's still in my head.
The boy nodded several times in excitement as he passed me the volleyball.
"Ready?"
"Yayaya!" He gleefully responds. He jumps up and down with those powerful jumps, I stop for a second to admire them.
Seriously, he jumps as high as (F/N).
I toss the ball towards him and he misses the ball by a few inches. He passes it back to me and I toss it back again. Hinata hit it this time but it didn't bounce back to you as it flies off to the side. The ball lands with a 'fwamp' as it hits the head of a boy.

"Ow." the boy said still facing the vending machine. I couldn't see his face as he holds the volleyball in his hands.
"What the-" he turns around to face us. It was Kageyama. He lets out a huff, he's obviously pissed at the little tangerine.
"Hinata" he muttered under his breath. He carelessly tosses the ball back and continues to grab his milk from the vending machine. He walks away while grumbling a few words you couldn't comprehend. They didn't sound too happy.
Even he scares me.
I clear your throat as I divert my focus back attention on Hinata,
"Okay Hinata."
"Yes Sugawara-senpai!" his eyes were still cheerful as he disregarded Kageyama.
"Put your arms like this, so it's a wider surface. It'll make it a bit easier" I demonstrated the right position to him, forming my arms into a flat platform. Hinata laid out his arms, copying my position with ease.
"Okay good! And make sure you bend your legs like this" I squat down, making sure my arms were parallel to my feet. He copies me again and I say,
"Awesome. That way the ball will come back with enough force to be sent back to your opponents. Make sure to use your legs for power instead of your arms. This will give you more control of the ball" I tap at my thighs to demonstrate.
"Wauw Sugawara-senpai! You're really smart!"
"Awe, thanks Hinata. It takes practice and a lot of observation. You can just call me Suga by the way" I said shyly rubbing the back of my neck.
At the corner of my eye, I notice (F/N) with her head stuck in a book. Her hair blowing in the wind and I felt my heart beat a little faster. She was sipping on a box of apple juice and sitting under a tree. I see Mika in the distance joining her with a bento box in her hand. Mika seemed excited about something as she eats with her lips moving rapidly, taking no breaks to chew in between. (F/N) was still looking at her book but nodded in response to Mika.

"Senpai." Hinata followed where my gaze was. I didn't realize that I was staring for that long. He was still holding the volleyball and he turned to me with a big goofy smile.
"You like (F/N)?" he teased.
"Wah, nono. W-what are you talking about?" I say in denial. It was too obvious I was lying. I sucked at lying.
"Senpai loooves (F/N)" Hinata sings making a heart shape in the air. I run up to the boy to cover his mouth.
(F/N) can hear you!
"C'monn ask her outtt" Hinata mumbles under my hand.
Mika notices the two of you and she gives you a big wave. (F/N)'s face pops out of her book and her curious face is too cute for me to handle. She smiles back at me, making me blush. At least I'm far away that she couldn't see how red my face is. I let go of Hinata and glare at him all serious.
"Please don't tell anyone. Especially Kageyama." I whisper angrily at Hinata.
"Wait why Kageyama..." He asked. Then Hinata thought for a bit and his face lit up as he put the pieces together.
"OHHH. Kageyama knows (F/N). He pointed at her and everything! What if they dated?" Hinata exasperated with wide eyes. He put his hands to the side of his face in shock.
"Okay, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's get back to practice." I said still covering my face. My blush was really evident, I've never experience something like this before.
Did I have a crush on her? Maybe... or maybe I'm just overthinking it. We got so intimate last night, it felt really weird but nice. Weirdly nice?
"Right!" Hinata exclaimed, breaking your never ending thoughts of (F/N).
It's like volleyball made him forget what we were talking about.
I let out a small sigh as he passed me back the volleyball. After a few minutes of passing back in forth, Hinata's improvement was showing immensely. His messy hair was clinging to his forehead with sweat. Even if he was tired, he still demanded more tosses.
He just never stops, does he. Let's just see his full potential then.
"Hinata. Can I see you spike?" I ask all of a sudden.
"WAH SPIKE! MY FAVOURITE!" He couldn't contain his excitement. He looked like he was about to cry.
I toss the ball high in the air just above my face and set right to him. I realized it was a bit high.
Oop--
Hinata came jumping at the ball with all his might. He met the ball in the air, ready to strike.
He's like the 'Tiny Giant'.
'FWOOM' the ball went flying down to the ground and it made dirt fly everywhere. The dirt hit Mika and (F/N), making them look up in surprise. Hinata fell back to the ground but on his butt as he slipped on the mud. It started raining and students were running back into the school with their hands over their heads.
"Sorry!" I wave apologetically to Mika and (F/N), but they were already walking towards the school, wiping the dirt off their uniform. I turn to Hinata, he was lying down in the dirt, making his uniform a complete mess. He was grinning to the sky as rain still kept hitting his face.
"Thank you Suga-senpai, for believing in me."
I gave him a soft smile to the little ball of sunshine. Gesturing my hand over his face, I hoist him upwards. I pull the boy out of the mud and his whole backside was filthy.
"Let's get you cleaned up"
We start walking towards the school and a grin was plastered onto Hinata's face. Nothing could break his spirits.
I think we'll have a good season this year with this ball of energy.

The Legend of Fanaura: Cursed
'Hey, need some help there?' An unfamiliar voice echoed through her mind, and she startled, losing her grip on the red phial. It rolled through the grass, away from her. "Oh shoot!" she yelped, and her focus diverted from her opponent for a split second, but it was enough to prove fatal. The beast took advantage of her distraction and lunged towards her. She tried to back away, but in her haste, she stumbled and fell. She looked at the beast, inches away from her, and shut her eyes in fear. She raised her arms to cover her head, even if she knew it was futile. Yet seconds passed, and no pain came. Then she heard the beast let out a pained yelp. She opened her eyes to the familiar sounds of battle before her. A tall man stood before her, locked in battle with the beast. He wielded a sword as long as his height, yet it didn't seem to hinder him in the slightest. She watched in awe as he swung the obviously heavy sword around as if it were light as a feather. His movements were swift and precise, and it didn't take long before the beast fell to the ground, motionless. “You alright there, miss?” The man sheathed his sword across his back, before turning to her. Her eyes widened when she heard his voice. It was the same voice who had that had spoken into her mind and the cause of her almost-fatal distraction. "You...!" she hissed.***She was the chosen one to end the war between the Goddesses when they were supposed to take care of the world balance. Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
