《Set Apart》Chapter 24~

"So what do you guys think?" Shawn smiled as everybody sat around the lunch table listening to his idea.
"I would love to but I have to help my dad move stuff out of storage still." I frowned at Derek declining the offer. I wanted him to spend more time with Topanga and the guys and it sounded fun. "But don't let me stop you from going. Go have fun at the club." He held my hand and looked at me when he said this.
"It does sound super cool. A club for people under 21." Topanga said.
"So are you guys down for Friday?" Shawn smiled hoping we would say yes.
"Sure i'm down." I said excitedly.
"We'll go too." Cory said volunteering both him and Topanga.
"Cool so we'll at meet up at Cory's at 8 and head out for a bit."
"Eight?! Shawn are you mad I need my beauty rest." Cory complained.
"Cor, the club opens at 7:30 and we can't show up right when it opens, it's gonna be too empty."
"Alright fine but if I wake up with bags under my eyes on Saturday morning i'll kill you Hunter."
Right now i'm getting ready at my house with Topanga. I decided that since this is my first club outing I was gonna try to put a bit more effort into my appearance than usual. I put on a horizontally stripped black and white shirt, with an oversized blue jean jacket, and a black skirt that was about 4 inches about my knee. I put on some black converse, because I still wanted to be confortable, and put my hair up into a messy ponytail. I was pretty much done getting ready while Topanga was putting on some makeup.
"You know you look really pretty without the makeup."
"And you could look beautiful in a potato sack but you're wearing a skirt instead."
"Touché Pangy." She giggles at the nickname I gave her and put the finishing touches on her face. It was still pretty early so we just hung out in my room for a bit. She looked over at my piano.

"You know out of all the years i've known you i've never heard you play."
"That's because up until now we weren't super close. The only people that have heard me play are my dad, my stepmom, my sister, and Shawn."
"Why not Cory?"
"Well I got the piano when I was around 10 and the only time I played it in front of people, not counting my family hearing me through the walls, was on Shawn's 14th birthday when I wrote him a song."
"You wrote him a song on his birthday?" She smiled and looked down for a second. "No wonder." She whispered under her breath.
"No wonder what?"
She looked back up at me and smiled really big. "No wonder you and Shawn left Cory's house so soon after the party."
"Yeah I brought him here to play it for him. But I haven't really played in front of anybody since then."
"You know i've heard wonderful things from the boys about your singing and I bet your piano skills are just as good." I smiled. "How come you don't do any of it in front of people?"
"I don't know, I used to be super insecure about it, but lately I feel like i'm in a place where i'm good enough to perform in more public settings. I guess I just haven't gotten the opportunity yet."
"Well maybe someday i'll get to see you preform. I would've asked you to play something right now but it's 7:35 and the boys are gonna be whiny if we're late."
I looked at the clock on my nightstand and Topanga was right, we needed to get going. We both walked over to Cory's house and were there by 7:50. The door was open for some fucking reason so we opened it and walked in to see the boys sitting on the couch.
"Hey losers! Ready to go?" I said walking over to the couch and putting my hands on their shoulders. I felt Shawn tense up a bit. I probably just caught him off guard.
"Yup lets go." Shawn shot up off the couch and headed out the door.

We walked for about 25 minutes before getting to the club. There wasn't a line considering they didn't have to check IDs so we walked in through the doors and it was the best thing I have ever seen.
They whole place was lighted with black lights so our clothes looked super bright and cool. And instead of alcohol they had bartenders that served every kind of flavored soda that you can imagine. I didn't even like soda that much but I wanted to drink all of it just because it looked so cool.
"Shawn this is sick! Where did you find this place." I shouted over the music.
"My Uncle Mike knew the guy who set up all the black lights."
"Well what are we waiting for let's go dance." I grabbed Shawn's hand as Topanga grabbed Cory's and we pulled them both onto the dance floor.
Shawn danced with me for a little while until he started to look a little flushed. Maybe he got tired already. "I'm gonna go get a drink if you want i'll get us a table."
"Shawnie i'll go with ya." Cory said, damn he was sweaty, and I thought Shawn looked tired. "I need a chance to breathe back in all the air i've lost."
Topanga smiled. "Well I guess it's just us then."
"May I have this dance Ms. Lawerence?" I held out my hand in a proper manner as a joke.
"Why yes you may Ms. Carrillo." She took my hand and we started dancing and jumping.
"Hey Shawn you okay?"
"Yeah I just needed a breather." I looked over at her dancing with Topanga. God she's beautiful.
"You really like her don't you?"
"Yeah, I do. But it doesn't matter does it?"
"Someday it will." He put his hand on my shoulder. I ordered two sherly temples for Cris and I while Cory got some sparkling water for him and Topanga.
We got in a booth up against the wall and the girls came over to sit with us. We sat and talked over the music for a little bit and then the dj went onto this stage they had on the other side of the room. Here we go.
"IS EVERYONE HAVING A GOOD TIME?!" He shouted into the mic. Everyone cheered in response.
"What's going on?" Cris asked.
"You'll see." I smiled at her knowing what was about to happen.
Once the crowd quieted down, the dj started talking again. "Alright so, unfortunately the lead singer of the band for tonight couldn't make it." The crowd started to boo. "HOWever, what do y'all say we make this a little bit of a KARAOKE NIGHT?!" Everyone started to cheer again.
Cris looked over at me suspiciously. "Shawn?"
"Yes?" I smiled.
"Did you do that?" She narrowed her eyes at me.
"What?! It's not my fault the lead guy got strep throat?" Cory elbowed me on the arm. Shit i've said too much.
"How do you know he has strep throat?" She crossed her arms and put them on the table.
"Well I met him briefly when my Uncle Mike was setting up the place and ya know, he seemed a bit off and what do ya know! It's strep throat season!"
Topanga furrowed her eyebrows as she remembered something. "Shawn didn't you tell us your Uncle Mike was just starting to recover from having step thro—"
Cory grabbed her hand and made them both stand up. "Honey let's go get refills." He dragged her to the counter and Cris turned her attention back to me.
"Shawn did you do that for me?"
"Well that and the other guys sounded like a seal. I couldn't take it!"
She giggled. "You're crazy."
"You'd outshine my crazy if you got on that stage and showed everybody what you got."
Topanga and Cory came back with drinks in their hands. "What's going on?" Topanga asked.
"Topanga remember earlier when you said maybe someday you'll get to see me perform?"
"Yeah."
"Well I guess today's the day."
