《Set Apart》Chapter 45~

"Damn you said that to his face?"
"Of course I did. I wouldn't be me if I didn't."
I was currently telling Shawn about my conversation with Derek last week while we were walking home. However, I made sure to leave out the part where he said Shawn and I liked each other.
"I will forever be in awe of your badassery Cristina Angela Carrillo." He stopped walking and took a bow.
"Why thank you Shawn Patrick Hunter." I said in a British accent while curtsying.
After we laughed it off a bit. I thought back to Derek and our relationship.
"Damn. I can't believe that douchebag was my first kiss."
"Ummmm. Excuse me, no he wasn't. And i'm very offended you forgot."
"Forgot?" I said confused.
"Remember? The basement in your old house? We were watching bugs bunny while we were on that ugly couch that smelled like stale bread."
"Oh my gosh I remember now! What were we 5?" We both smiled at the memory.
"Nope. Six, i'm no player." He jokes.
Cristina and Shawn were in the basement of her house watching big bunny. They always did this on Fridays after school.
As Elmer Fudd snuck behind a bush with a rifle in hand and ready to shoot, bugs bunny crept next to him and gave him a sloppy kiss on the lips. Cristina laughed and Shawn cringed.
"Why do people kiss? It looks so gross." He says.
"I think it's sweet."
"What's so sweet about touching lips?"
"I don't know, but people seem to do it when they care about the other person a lot, so it must be special."
"But you've never kissed anybody how would you know it's special?"
"You've never done it either. How do you know it's gross?" She crosses her arms in defense.

"I guess I don't. I don't know Crissy, maybe i'd just have to be realllly comfortable with who i'm kissing."
"Yeah, me too. I wouldn't go around just kissing anybody. They could give me the flu." They both laugh at her joke and return back to the conversation at hand.
"I do wanna know what it feels like though. Does it feel wet? Slimy? Sticky?"
"Who's lips are slimy and sticky?" She cringed.
"I wouldn't know, i've never kissed nobody."
At this point she was annoyed with his whining and questions. So she proposed an alternative. "You wanna know so bad? Just get it over with on me."
"WHAT?! Are you crazy?" She muted the television as he says this and turns to him.
"You're the one who wanted to know what it felt like. And we both said we'd only do it with people we are comfortable with. Plus, you made me curious."
He was hesitant at first, but he thought about it some more. "Are you sure about this? This sounds like a bad idea."
"What's the worst that can happen?"
"You lick me."
"Hey! Which one of us is the one that actually uses their toothbrush everyday of the week? If anything I should be the one worrying about you."
"Okay fair point."
They both face each other. Being unsure of what exactly to do in this situation.
"Okay, on the count of three we kiss." Cristina says as she scoots slightly closer.
"1...2...3!"
At the end of the countdown they give each other a 2 second peck and pull away. Once they pulled away Shawn was wiping his mouth and cringing.
"Ahhhh! That felt so weird!" He said.
Cristina saw how distraught he was and just sat there laughing at him.

"Damn to think that we had our first kiss in that smelly little basement still makes me laugh."
"Probably not harder than you laughed at me after that kiss." He paused and pointed his finger at me. "Which slightly bruised my ego by the way. So thanks for that."
"I wasn't laughing at your kiss. I was laughing because you were wiping your lips and you looked so uncomfortable. I couldn't help but laugh."
"So what i'm hearing is that i'm an amazing kisser?"
"Ooh, I wouldn't go that far."
His jaw dropped and I couldn't help but laugh.
"You know what..." I got confused when he paused, but it al became clear what he was doing when he threw me over his shoulder. I yelled and he began chuckling. "Who's laughing now?"
"Me actually. HAHAHAHA!" He jumped with me and I winced as I crashed down on his shoulder. "Ow! Asshole." I heard him chuckle. "What's so funny?"
"You curse like a drunken sailor, it's hilarious."
"Well I don't think of it as cursing. I think of it as having a passionately colorful way of speaking. Now put me down bitch."
"Okay fine." He puts me back down on the ground and I give him a nice wack on the side of his head.
"Ow!" He yells.
"I hate you Hunter."
"Please. You love me." He says as he rubs his head.
He has no idea.

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
