《The Christmas Wish》Chapter 5

My head is spinning and I'm in another world. I can't believe what a good guy Kookie is. He's the best.
I'm just overjoyed. Not to mention I get to spend time with this hot star, and all for doing something that requires no thanks. I don't want to be a burden to him but if he wasn't sincere he wouldn't have offered.
My God, he went to his producers and sold them on the idea of the show giving me my old-fashioned Country Christmas. I'm also not a fool. I know it is about the show and ratings so I might as well enjoy it. God, I hope he wears those tight-ass pants on Christmas.
As the show ends and the audience applauds us, I feel overwhelmed with the noise and the lights. We stand there and Kookie takes my hand and holds it up as the studio fills with thunderous applause. I feel a jolt of electricity shoot through my body as he touches me.
It's stimulating and a wonderful rush of warm sensations throughout my limbs. A spark. He quickly looks at me as if he felt it too. Our eyes meet and he then turns to the audience.
"Tae are you, uh, up for meetings with some of your fans?"
"Uh, Sure Mr. Jeon," I say, regaining my composure.
He chuckles, "Taehyung, call me Kookie," he says and pulls me forward.
I gasp. Fuck, I hope he didn't hear that.
"Okay, if you'll call me Tae. We will be spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day together."
He then flashes me an adorable bunny smile. It is nothing like the smiles I've seen on television before. I believe he blushed. To make sure I am not making it up I look at him. I note a slight rosiness to his cheeks as he rubs the back of his neck and moves towards the audience.
The audience is the best. They are friendly and show appreciation for what I've done. I know I'm the new flavor of the month.
Next month or sooner there will be some other new flavor. This is my 10 minutes of fame. I was in a rush to get home but being around Kookie, now I don't know.
I watch him as he genuinely listens to his audience. He likes them. This comes across even on television and he is sincere. However, I am not surprised.
As we wave goodbye and walk back stage a group of people converge on us. They literally start to undress him. Someone takes off his tie and then his jacket.
Another person gives him a towel and hands me one too. I watch as he wipes off his makeup and I do the same. Next, someone steps in and our mics are taken off.
A woman comes over and starts talking about tomorrow's show. She hands him a menu, which I know, is for Roasting Wednesday. It's all so exciting.
"Hey, Jia, can we do this later? I want to get Taehyung settled before he leaves and introduce him to Namjoon and Jin."
She nods, "Sure boss," and walks away.
"What a production this is," I say as I follow him.
"Oh, Tae, you don't know the half of it." I follow him into his office "Just a minute Tae." Aa he makes a phone call, I look around his office and it's beautifully decorated.
He has pictures on the wall of himself receiving several awards. He also has a few with regular people. It seems odd.
He's always photographed in magazines with famous people and hot guys on his arm. Why not display some of those pictures?

I look at a few and some are children in wheelchairs. Then I see a picture of a women in a hospital bed. I read the inscription on the picture. "Thank you for giving me hope throughout my recovery."
Wow, he's a pretty cool dude. I never would have known. I thought he was pretty Hollywood. But, I think he might be different.
"Hey, bring Jin and meet me in my office in ten minutes." He disconnects his call and then turns to me as I smile awkwardly. Oh, God I'm alone with him. I hope he can't hear my heart beating.
"Taehyung, have a seat. I'll be right back."
I sit on the plush grey couch and I'm not sure what to do as he goes into what I think is his bathroom. This is all so fast. I pull out my phone that has been on mute for several hours. I see three missed calls from my brother, Suga.
Fuck! I forgot to let him know that I would not be returning until today. He will not be happy. I prepare for his wrath as my phone rings. It's Suga.
"Oh how are you doing superstar! Your ass decided to answer your phone today? Did you have time out of your busy schedule of hobnobbing with the rich and famous? Did you forget we are running a fucking business here?"
"Okay, I deserve that. Are you finished?"
"No! Where the Hell are you!?"
"Suga, I'll call you later. I'm meeting with Kookie." I say in a quiet voice.
"Who the Fuck is Kookie, and why the hell are you whispering?" My brother roars.
"You know the host of my favorite cooking show."
"You mean that idiot you drool over in tight pants that bakes cakes? His Ass! What the Hell? You had better -" Kookie comes into the room. "Okay, got to go."
"Tae, Don't .You. Dare. Hang-up!" Click.
Kookie has changed into a pair of relaxed fit jeans and a comfy oversized creamy sweater. He looks different. Surprisingly, better.
As if he wasn't hot enough. His hair is combed out and although his pants aren't tight they fit well, he looks normal and approachable. I like it. Fuck, I like it a lot.
"Okay, that's better," he says.
Just as he walks over there's a knock at the door. Two men come in. One is Jin who I met earlier and another man that holds open the door for Jin. They appear quite familiar with each other. I suspect they are partners.
"Taehyung, it's so good to see you again. You absolutely killed it! Social media is buzzing. This is Namjoon. He's the executive producer." Jin tells me excitedly.
Namjoon has a broad smile and then shakes my hand firmly. "And Jin's boyfriend," he says, eyeing me closely and marking his territory. "Wonderful job, Taehyung! We are all so excited that you will be spending the holidays with Kookie at his country home for an old fashion Christmas."
"My goodness, it is I that should be thanking you both for this amazing opportunity. Christmas is a wonderful time and you all are giving me a bit of happier times back. It's an amazing gift. Thank you."
"Taehyung, Jin will be coordinating things with you," Namjoon says.
"Taehyung, we'd like you to come back after Christmas to talk about your Old fashioned Christmas experience. Only because so many of our audience around the world are so excited," Jin says as he takes a seat on the couch next to me.

Oh, I get it. I know it's a PR opportunity. "It's not a problem. I would look forward to doing that. Being with Kookie, I mean being on the show again," I say and clear my throat. Okay, don't be a dork Tae, I tell myself.
"Taehyung, can you give me your phone number?" Kookie asks. "Uhm...Just in case I need to follow up on some, uh, things with you," he asks as he fumbles a bit reaching for his phone. I see Namjoon and Jin both look at each briefly in response.
What the fuck! Kookie wants my personal number. "Oh, and let me give you mine. Call me if you need anything."
Shit! I'm dead.
"Uh sure Kookie," I say struggling not to thrust my fist into the air and yelp like a fool.
"Uh, Taehyung what kind of things would you like to plan for Christmas?" Jin asks. "I'll have our photographer take some photos during your time there. But they would be discreet, of course."
My eyes widen, "Uh, sure. Wow, what would I like to do?" I repeat his question as I try to process what he just said.
"Like any traditions," Jin prompts with a soft smile.
I draw in a deep audible breath as my face beams and then bite down on my lip in an attempt to contain my excitement.
"Uh definitely decorate the tree, gift wrapping, maybe sledding, a snowball fight. Uh, is it ok if I bring my brother? We spend the holidays together and I don't want him to be alone."
Kookie looks at me as if he's a bit surprised and then says, "Of course."
"Is he a fan of the show Taehyung?" Namjoon asks casually.
"Uh, no. But he does love to eat all the delicious recipes I cook." I dare not tell them what Suga really thinks of Kookie and his tight pants. He'll shut up for a dinner invite and free food.
"Tae, what would you like for the Christmas menu?" Jin asks looking down at his clipboard.
My eyes go wide as I successfully resist the urge to bounce in my chair.
"You're kidding right? You are seriously asking me to plan the menu for Christmas dinner?"
"Yes, we are seriously asking you to plan the menu," Kookie says. He smiles that big bunny smile again that is too sweet and my heart skips a beat. Fuck, they seriously want me to plan the Christmas dinner menu.
My bouncing urge returns and I bite down on bottom lip again.
"Uh, can I think about it Jin?" I say trying to sound composed when inside I'm a mess. I begin to feel as if I really am dreaming and will wake up any moment.
"Sure Taehyung," Jin says. "As a matter of fact, can you come to the studio to meet with me tomorrow to go over the menu and activities? Let's say, 4:30 after the show ends."
"Of course Jin, I'll be here." I have to be dreaming as I know any minute my alarm clock will wake me for my real life.
"Taehyung, let me walk you out, "Jungkook says.
"Sure Kookie." I say a quick goodbye to Namjoon and Jin.
Kookie seems so real in this moment. Like a regular guy. Like someone I'd have a few beers with. There are a few people focusing on various tasks as we walk out. Once we turn down the long hall towards the elevator we are alone. My heart pounds and I'm not sure what to say. Our shoulder are inches apart and I want to touch him accidentally to have some physical contact. I know, it's silly and then he nudges against me accidentally, I think. Of course it was accidental. I automatically turn towards him and slow my pace.
"Sorry Tae," he says but there's a slight smile that appears playful and his eyes are bright.
"It's ok Kookie," I say looking into his warm brown eyes that I want to get lost in. I quickly divert my eyes and struggle to contain a chuckle that I manage to hold in. Yeah, he seems like a regular guy that I could hang out with.
But he's not. It then hits me that I've been selfish. What about his plans for the Christmas holiday?
Am I getting in the way of him spending his holiday with someone special? For some reason that thought makes me feel sad and oh my God, I'm jealous. I have no right, yet, I still feel that way.
As we walk towards the elevator I thank him again. "Kookie, thank you so much for what you're doing for me. You do know it is not required."
"No, Taehyung, thank you for what you did for Mrs. Choo and her son. It is required of myself and so many others who want to acknowledge and reward your heroism."
"Kookie, this is a bit awkward but I'm going to say it." I begin, not sure exactly what I will say. He stops and turns to me just steps away from the elevator. Suddenly, I become conscious of my hands and don't know want to do with them. I stuff them in pants pockets.
"Yes, Taehyung?" He asks. He seems alert and attentive to what I'm about to say. It surprises me.
"I appreciate everything you're doing but I don't want to keep you from having the Christmas you want. Christmas is important. You should be spending it with family, friends and someone special. You know, like your boyfriend. It's a huge commitment spending a big holiday like Christmas with a total stranger." I try to come across as sincere. I what him to tell me it's not a problem. Why the hell did I even bring it up? Please tell me it's okay.
"Taehyung, you are not a total stranger and I hope, I mean, I'm sure, we'll talk before the holiday. To, uh, work out things."
"Oh really, like what?" I'd love to spend more time with him. He seems so real that it's confusing. I think of the pictures I saw in his office and I believe him to be sincere. He didn't have to walk me to the elevator and he most certainly did not have to give me his phone number.
"Uh, I'm not sure but you never know, he says and then rubs the back of neck as his chin dips down.
"Kookie again I don't want to ruin your holiday. You're dating that actor, uh Tommie Chen," I probe still wanting to hear him say that spending Christmas with me is okay.
"Uh no, Taehyung I'm not, uh, dating him anymore" he says with a bit of a noticeable grimace. I probe in response to his reaction without thinking.
"Oh, you had a break up? I'm sorry," I say struggling to hold back a gleeful smile as if I had a chance with him.
My first thought is to comfort him. But that would be crossing the line. I'm sure if I did that my Christmas dinner would quickly evaporate. I'm not going to let that happen.
"Yeah, we broke up a few weeks ago. It didn't work out. It was mutual. I'm not seeing anyone now," he says looking down at the floor. He then look up and softly smiles. "Tae it is no problem, really. I think we'll have fun."
He said it. Spending his holiday with me is no problem and it should be fun. I try hard not to swoon as we arrive at the elevator.
"Okay. I'm sorry," I say as the elevator arrives and the doors open
"Okay, goodbye Kookie. I'll talk to you soon and thanks." The elevator doors close and I am beyond the moon.

Shadowcroft Academy for Dungeons: Year One
Build a Dungeon. Slay Heroes. Survive Finals. Wounded Army vet Logan Murray thought mimics were the stuff of board games and dungeon manuals… right up until one ate him. In a flash of snapping teeth, Logan suddenly finds himself on the doorstep to another world. He’s been unwittingly recruited into the Shadowcroft Academy for Dungeons—the most prestigious interdimensional school dedicated to training the monstrous guardians who protect the Tree of Souls from so-called heroes. Heroes who would destroy the universe if it meant a shot at advancement. Unfortunately, as a bottom-tier cultivator with a laughably weak core, Logan’s dungeon options aren’t exactly stellar, and he finds himself reincarnated as a lowly fungaloid, a three-foot-tall mass of spongy mushroom with fewer skills than a typical sewer rat. If he’s going to survive the grueling challenges the academy has in store, he’ll need to ace the odd assortment of classes—Fiendish Fabrication, Dungeon Feng Shui, the Ethics of Murder 101—and learn how to turn his unusual guardian form into an asset instead of a liability. And that’s only if the gargoyle professor doesn’t demote him to a doomed wandering monster first…
