《delivery girl》Ch.25

Duke sat in front of his computer, which had a small camera set up on it. Daniel watched curiously from the sidelines.
"How's that? Is it connected? Is it all done?"
"Maybe..."
"My broadcast is all set up! Will people come watch?" Duke wondered aloud.
Elsewhere, viewers saw Duke's Rap Room go live on their screens.
"Huh?"
"Oh~ a rap room."
"I hope he's handsome!"
Once they clicked on the live stream, most of them either immediately exited or stuck around to laugh as Daniel and Duke's chubby figures.
Duke frowned when he saw the comments get flooded with rude words, and Daniel gasped.
'Woah... what a rude response. We haven't started.'
"Let's stop for now. I got ten balloons. Must've been making fun of me." Duke said, reaching for the camera to turn it off.
"Balloons? What are those?" Daniel asks.
"One balloon is worth ten cents."
"What?! Those are worth money?!"
Duke nodded. "If you collect 1,000, you can exchange them for money with a 40% fee. I'm not interested in balloons but top streamers earn major cash, and they pay a 30% fee."
Daniel nodded, "Wow..."
"(Y/N)'s little brother makes some extra money by streaming. Whenever he needs more viewers he just shows (Y/N) on camera."
Daniel snorts a bit, "Smart kid."
Duke smiled and nodded. "Jiho said there is a top streamer in the fashion department."
"Really? When he's at the store I'll have to ask him." 'In our class? Who could that be?!'
Streamer Yui Kim. Daniel could recognize her as soon as she came up to his desk the next day.
"Daniel~ I loved your performance. The song was really great." She complimented.
"Huh?" 'She's the top streamer?'
"Danny. I thought this suited you so I bought you it." She said, handing over a wallet.
'Huh? That pattern... it's an expensive brand! Mom pulled that bag out every special occasion and treated it like treasure! Top streamers must be well paid! She's from a different world!'

"Thanks, but this is too much... sorry."
(Y/N) peaked her head up from where she had been napping before and turned to give Jay a confused look. Had they not given him an entire wardrobe of name brand clothes? He shrugged and looked back out the window.
Daniel looked at the puppy eyes that Yui was giving him now, 'Why is a popular girl being so nice to me? No way.'
'She has the hots for me?!'
Daniel couldn't keep his eyes off of Yui the entire class.
Daniel jumped when he felt a wad of paper hit the back of his paper, breaking him out of his Yui based daydream. He turned around to see who had thrown it and saw (Y/N) giving him an expectant look.
He grinned and opened up the paper, only to frown when he saw what it said.
The teacher called on you but you were too busy drooling to answer.
Pay attention!!!! (#`д')ノ
Daniel felt his cheeks redden with embarrassment. 'Oh jeez, I really am out of it.'
After school ended, Zoe came skipping up to
(Y/N)'s desk.
"(Y/N)-ie~ Do you wanna go to karaoke with me and a few other girls?"
(Y/N) looked up from her backpack, which she had been packing up so she could leave and looked at Zoe.
"Not particularly."
Zoe's face dropped and she began to pout.
"Why not?"
"I have to be to work by 9:00."
Zoe paused, '(Y/N) works really late...'
"I promise I'll get you home by 8:30!"
"I'm serious, Zoe."
"I am too!"
(Y/N) sighed. "Fine."
Zoe beamed and danced around to bit to celebrate. "Yay!"
"You're lucky you're cute..." (Y/N) mumbled under her breath.
Zoe stopped celebrating and looked at (Y/N).
"What?"
(Y/N) looked back, "What?"
"I thought you said-"
"Who else is coming?" (Y/N) interrupted.
"Oh, right!" Zoe turned to Yui and her two friends who were lounging on their desks.
"Girls~ Shall we go to do karaoke?"
"Sure! Why not?" One excitedly agreed.

"Big Bang's new song is banging~" Said the other.
"I'm not into singing... I wanna go shopping." Yui disagreed with a smile.
Yui's two friends turned to look at her.
"Oh? Yeah? Okay~"
"O-Okay Yui! I prefer shopping."
"Okay! Coffee is on me~" Yui chirped.
'Huh?' Zoe was understandably confused. Why had they changed their minds after Yui said she wanted to do something else?
"Zoe, you and I could go by ourselves..." (Y/N) suggested, seeing Zoe's crestfallen face.
"...No, it's okay. It's not as fun with only two people." Zoe sighed.
"You're sure?" (Y/N) asked. Zoe only hummed in response.
"Let's go~!" Yui said excitedly. She skipped over to the door just at the same time that Daniel was trying to leave.
"After you." Daniel politely offered.
"No, after you." Yui insisted.
"No, really, after you." Daniel repeated.
"You go first! After you."
"You can go first, I insist."
"I'll follow you right out."
(Y/N), who had been stuck behind them while trying to leave, rolled her eyes.
"No, after you."
She grabbed Zoe's wrist and pulled her through to door, pushing between Yui and Daniel and walking out.
"After us." (Y/N) said flatly. Once the two were out, she looked at a confused Daniel and an offended Yui.
"We'll wait for you guys outside."
Once they reached the main exit, (Y/N) pushed the door open and stepped to the side.
"After you." She said with a mischievous smile.
"You're so mean~" Zoe giggled.
A few minutes later, when Yui and her two friends came down, Yui didn't even look in their direction.
"Let's go, I know this cute place." She said, walking off with her two friends following in tow.
When the five girls were walking down the street that was filled with different vendors, Zoe and (Y/N) followed in the back.
All of a sudden, (Y/N) stopped walking and grabbed Zoe's sleeve so she would pause as well.
"What?"
(Y/N) pointed at a small bag that was sat in one of the vendors. "That looks like something you'd like."
Zoe smiled and took a closer look at the pouch, walking over to it and picking it up.
"Guys... Should I buy this pouch? It's cute!" She said, holding it out so the rest of the girls can see.
Yui's two friends glance at the bag and back to Yui, who was covering her mouth while she laughed.
"Goodness, it's kinda ugly. It doesn't really suit you."
"Yeah, Yui is right."
"Look for something else~"
"Really?" Zoe asked sullenly, moving to put the bag down. 'You think?'
(Y/N) frowned at Zoe's downtrodden expression.
The next day at school, Yui had the pouch on her desk.
'That pouch, but Yui said it was ugly yesterday!' Zoe thought as she walked over to the table.
"H-Hey! Yesterday I was..."
"What'd she say?" One of Yui's friends asked.
"Joon Young's new song was awesome~"
Zoe didn't even try to finish her sentence, unsure of how to react to the cold treatment. 'Huh?'
Just then, Daniel and (Y/N) walked into the room together. She had given him a ride to school this morning, refusing to take no as an answer from Daniel.
"Oh my..." Zoe began, trying to talk to him.
"Hi Danny!" Yui interrupted, quickly standing up from her desk.
"Daniel~ How do you like my pouch? Isn't it cute?"
"Oh? Yeah, I guess."
Zoe watched with wide eyes.
(Y/N), having her bullshit detector at the ready, looked over from where she stood behind Daniel.
"Goodness, it's kinda ugly." She said, her voice mockingly raised a few pitches.
Yui gasped and Daniel froze. 'Jeez! Why is she being so mean?!'. He glanced at (Y/N), whose expression held zero remorse, and then to Yui, who looked heartbroken. 'I have to say something...'
"But what's a pouch? Like a pencil case?"
Yui bounced right back with a giggle, punching Daniel's arm. "Haha you're too funny~"
Zoe made a conclusion as she watched Daniel and Yui flirt back and forth with each other.
'Oh... So that's why... Daniel is rich... And Yui earns a lot from her live-streams too... They're a perfect couple...'
Zoe sighed.
'The look good together.'
'... Much better than me and him.'

The Orb Weaver Chronicles
"The Orb Weaver Chronicles contains several major and unique events that may or may not unknowingly intertwines with one another. The author of these chronicles is unknown, although some have hinted at the symbolism behind its name..." - Year unknown, location unknown 9 February 2022 Update: Welcome to the companion short story compilation of my novel trilogy The Shadow Paradigm. This compilation features prequels, sidequels and sequels to the novel's major plotline, as well as featuring a wide range of characters, new and recurring. Prior knowledge of the novel is not necessary as the Orb Weaver Chronicles' short stories are standalone. Once called The Arkesyyan Chronicles, I've deleted quite a few of its old stories. Due to the new avenue and revision, oriented toward more mystery and film-noir ambience, that I took my stories into, I've removed all aliens and overly sci-fi aspects of the whole TSP lineup, so I've updated the Orb Weaver Chronicles accordingly. I hope you enjoy them, and in time, a revised version will also be updated.
