The moment Draco left, my reality trickled its way into my mind. Even if Draco didn't put up a fight with this the battle wasn't over. Narcissa somehow needed to convince Lucius that the daughter of his enemy was going to join his side.
I knew that once Draco knew what was ahead of him he would be in no mood to pick up where we left off, I had a suspicion he had known for a long time what his future held even if he had denied it to himself all his life. I waited alone for an unbearable amount of time, I heard nothing from downstairs. No raised voices no shouting just dead silence, that was until a voice echoed the walls and sent a panic straight to my insides.
"IVY! GET HERE NOW!" Although this wasn't the usual way I would agree to be summoned I knew the circumstances where different. He was going to be livid.
I crept my way down the stairs to see an extremely furious Draco waiting for me at the bottom. Narcissa was quick to catch up with him.
"Draco, please listen to me" she reached out to grab hold of him but he shook her off the moment she touched him.
"Are you fucking serious? Did you really think I would allow you to do this? Not a fucking change Ivy. Not a fucking chance." His arms swung up into the air in aggression.
"Draco you're not listening to me...this is her only choice if you want her in your life. If you want her to stand a chance at surviving!" Even though I already knew this the words stung my chest. Taking me back for a moment.
"I-I can't allow her to do this...she's not like us!" He spat his words at his mother.

"Excuse me! I am here you know! However much you care about me Draco you don't get to dictate what I do with my life...my decisions! That's up to me and right now Draco I don't see how there are any other options! Even if I run away right now you don't think he'd find me? You don't think...Voldermort would hunt me down?" My words were confident but my nerves told a different story, causing me to tremble just at the thought.
I could see he was looking for words but there was none.
"If he does find Ivy...he will kill her. After what her mother did to protect Iris he will just see her as an obstacle needing to be demolished. Least if we bring her to him..explaining that she is on our side..we stand a chance of him allowing her to live." Narcissa's voice was soft even if her words weren't.
A thousand thoughts spiralled behind Draco's eyes. No one spoke, we needed Draco to say the next words and hope that they were more understanding.
"I need some air" Draco stormed off in the other direction towards the front door. Despite Draco having been just told his entire future the only thing he could focus on was me. I couldn't help but allow the small feeling of illation fo fill me even with everything going on.
Me and Narcissa both watched Draco's every move up until the door slammed behind him.
"He'll come round Ivy. He knows it's the only way." Both our eyes still fixated on the closed door.
"I know....Narcissa could you..could you tell me a little about my mother? I feel like I knew a different version of her." I glanced to watch her side profile as she took a deep breath.

"She was...fierce but had a heart of gold. Nothing I needed was too much to ask, she would of gone to the end of the earth for me. Never put me in harms way, always protected me. That's why she hated Lucius as much as she did, because she knew that he was the opposite of her. She loved potions even if she complained about it 24/7. Detested Dumbledore which might seem strange to hear after what he did for you but she really did hate the man. She saw a side of him that no one else could but she was still her. Then she changed, she became vindictive and cruel to so many but not me. Even though she would look at me sometimes when I was with Lucius with complete disgust I knew that she never meant it. I knew that she would of still killed for me. I worried for a while that there was no coming back from the place that she had entered but then in complete surprise Iris was born...I had never seen someone change so much through pure love. Despite her..issues with your father she didn't seem to care anymore. Like the only thing that mattered was Iris." Her words encapsulated me. They took me to a happier place. A place without pain or suffering. A place where I could relive the memories of the look of love my mother always had when she looked at us. An all consuming kind of love.
"Sometimes I wonder how different your life would of been if it wasn't for me. If I had listened to her and stayed away from Lucius. I love him with every bone in my body but just sometimes I think is it worth the lives it's destroyed in the process." Her head fell down towards her chest.
I couldn't think about that right now "When will Lucius be back?"
"Very soon."
