We got out of the water and sat where our feet were still in the water.
"This one on my knee is from when I jumped from my bike in the second grade" be pointed to a decent sized scar on the side of his right knee.
"Weren't you quite the daredevil?" I teased him.
"Well then, how did you get the long scar on your arm?" He asked.
I stretched my right arm out.
"Didn't you say it had to do something with your ex?"
I took a deep breath and tucked my hair behind my ears. The weather was already humid and it was only past noon.
I unbuttoned my shirt and took it off leaving me in a black sports bra.
"It's hot out" I looked at Darren as he was looking at me.
My face turned red, "Uh, anyways my scar"
"Y-yeah" he snapped out of his daze.
I looked down at my stomach, it's not noticeable and it has only been a month, but I do seem to have gained a little bit of weight. Well, I can feel it, nobody has noticed yet.
"My ex, he was so manipulative" I shook my head.
"What did he do?"
"He knew how to talk to people, he was every girls dream boy" I shooked my head, "that was my first mistake, we dated my freshman year, and he was a troublemaker"
"One time he got into a fight with this guy from school and the guy brought out a pocket knife, and being the stupid 15 year old girl in love, I threw myself in front of him and the other guy sliced my arm" I glanced at Darren.
"The cut wasn't too deep, but was deep enough to create a scar" I ran my finger over it.

"So, that is how I got my scar"
"What about that one?" He said as he pointed to one on my hip.
"Car accident" I said looking at the scar again.
"Your life is full of accidents that could've killed you" he shook his head slightly.
"Yeah, but they didn't"
I looked at the scenery, there was a small cliff with people jumping off of it yelling.
"My cousins use to do that" I nodded my head in the direction.
"Cliff jumping?" He questioned.
"Yeah, they lived where there are a bunch of lakes and they'd go cliff jumping, although I was way too young it looked like so much fun"
"You've never been cliff jumping?" He asked.
"Um, have you seen my social life? Of course I haven't"
"You have to sometime" he smiled at me. His teeth are perfect.
"Yeah" I looked out at the ocean.
"I'm getting hungry" my stomach growled.
"I don't think we brought food" Darren looked around.
"I don't think so either" I got up and brushed the sand off me.
"Want to go back in town and get something to eat?"
"Yeah, let's find Chance and Madison" we walked to the water and sure enough they were splashing each other.
"Chance!" Darren yelled.
"Madison!" I yelled after Darren.
They didn't hear us. So I brought my fingers up to my mouth and whistled.
Madison stopped and looked at me.
I motioned to the Jeep and then she told Chance.
They both started swimming.
Darren and I began walking back to our spot so I could grab my "tourist" shirt. We began walking to the Jeep when I felt someone wet hug me.
"Madison!" I wiggled out of her grasp.
"What?" She asked innocently.
I shook my head as we got to the Jeep.

I sat in the back with Madison as we started to leave.

We pulled in to a grocery store parking lot.
"What should we get?" Darren shut the Jeep off.
"Who's Jeep is this?" I randomly asked.
"Mine" Chance looked over his shoulder at me.
"Let's have walking tacos!" Madison exclaimed.
We got out and headed into the store.
"Madison and Chance, could you guys get the meat, cheese, and sour cream?" Darren asked them.
They nodded, their clothe still damp, and headed off in the store.
Darren and I went to get the chips, lettuce and tomatoes.
"Where we going to cook it?" I asked while holding the chips and lettuce.
"Oh yeah" realization hit him. We were in the fresh fruits/vegetables part. He put four tomatoes in a bag the store provided.
"Never mind, we can cook at my house" I looked at him.
"Alright" he smiled.
We walked around the rest of the store looking for our best friends.
"Why haven't I seen you around school before?" Darren asked.
"Well, one thing is because you're a junior and I'm a sophomore" he nodded.
"You're pretty popular, I'm pretty invisible, is all making sense now?" I teased. He lightly pushed me.
"You are pretty invisible, actually"
"Yeah, well not after I started hanging around with you" we walked down to the dairy products.
"Why is that?" He ran his hands through his dirty blonde hair.
"Well, for one thing I left the school with you and your best friend"
"It's not that anyone saw us" his blue-grey eyes looked over at me.
"True, but it'll be weird if it got noticed"
"We don't really talk to each other in school, I don't think it's that noticeable"
"Oh... yeah" I quietly said. Well, that put me down a little.
"Found them" Darren looked straight ahead.
Madison was grabbing cheese.
"Get the blended cheese" Chance whined.
"No, I like cheddar" she declared.
Chance rolled his eyes.
We all walked up to the check out and Darren paid for it.
By time we got to my house it was two in the afternoon, school was almost over so there's no point in going back.
We sat the groceries on the counter and began cooking. Chance said he wanted to cook it, so we let him.
"Mase, is it okay if I borrow some of your clothes?" Madison asked as she was already going upstairs to my room.
"You already know the answer" I hollered back.
I turned back to Darren, "Are you going to go back and change or do you want to borrow some clothes?" I asked unsure.
"I'll be back in a little bit" he told me as he grabbed the keys from the kitchen and left.
Madison came down in black joggers and a cream colored tank top.
I heard Chance say profanities as he was cooking the meat.
"Want help?" Madison asked him.
"I'm going to go change" I told the two as I went to my room.
I grabbed black basketball shorts and a tye-dyed shirt.
I messily put my hair up in a ponytail. I know gross, probably wondering "why aren't you gonna take a shower?" Well, it's because;
1. I'm lazy.
2. It's too time consuming as of this moment.
And...
3. I'm hoping my mom won't smell the salt water on us.
I walked back downstairs smelling the meat mixed with taco seasoning.
Yum.
