《Me, Myself, & My Babies》35

The days leading up to Thanksgiving was filled with pranks, games, and countless arguments over stuff that didn't need arguments.
Darren and Madison constantly fought over who got to sleep on the bed with me. Darren's mom got a another job so she told him to stay with us as she was resting to work the early hours of morning for Black Friday.
Mom woke Daniel, Madison and I to help her start things. We also made last minutes food items and had Daniel and his friends haul another table and lawn chairs from the shed.
It was a couple hours after noon, and everyone was ready to feast. We sat around the conjoined tables and began to eat.
The rest of the day was relaxing, my brother and his friends passed out in the living room. Maddy was sleeping upstairs and my mom was putting away the leftovers.
Darren left to his house. I was debating on names.
It was quiet in the house, that was the first.
I moved my hair to the side and began to observe it. It was getting long and always got in the way of feeding Ness and Lily.
My mom was still putting away left overs as the sun wss beginning to set.
"Where's Darren?" My mom asked.
"He left to his house"
"You know, I can really tell you love him" she smiled back at me.
"What gave it away?" I sarcastically answered.
"The way you stare at him" she sat across from me at the table.
"Yeah, I really do love him" I smiled.
I sighed looking at my mom, "Do you think he'll ever do something stupid?" I asked quietly.
"Why are you asking?" My mom asked.
"It's just that, before he had a reputation, and I trust him, I just dont know" I propped my arm up to rest my head.
"You shouldn't be worried if you trust and love him"
"I don't know, mom, I'm just terrified of getting my heart broken" I felt a sadness creep over my emotions.
"Sometimes, you just have to go with it, you can't avoid being heart broken, it happens in all forms, not just being in love with someone, everyone has had a heart break even if they don't know it, it's unavoidable"
"Unless you're a sociopath"
"Maybe" she joked.
I smiled, "These emotions"

It was past midnight, and Darren still hasn't come back or texted me.
Madison was wide awake, talking away about a girl in her math class.

"Maddy?" She shut up as soon as I said her name.
"Do you know where Darren might be?" I asked her.
She looked hesitant, "He's at a party with Chance" she blurted.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "What?"
"Nothing" she nervously smiled.
"A party? On Thanksgiving?"
"Yeah" she looked down.
"Why didn't he tell me?" I whispered.
"He didn't want you to be mad"
I sat on my bed in silence. He didn't want me being mad?
Soon anger was boiling inside me.
"Where's it at?" I narrowed my eyes at Maddy who was frozen.
"At a hotel"
"Take me there" I began to get off the bed.
"But Vanessa and Lily" she whispered yell. Looking over at the cribs, I marched to Daniels room and was surprised to see he was still up, working on his laptop.
"I need you to watch Ness and L, I have to find Darren" I whispered, "they're sleeping".
"Yeah, I'll watch them" he said and went right back to typing. I left his room, leaving the door wide open and mine too.
"Maisie, I need to tell you something" Madison told me as I started to head to the stairs.
"It can wait" I rushed downstairs.
I grabbed Daniels truck keys and walked out of the house wearing a random sweater that was on the couch and grabbing my ratted up converse.
"Fine, just let me drive you there" she walked past me, snatching the keys.
I got in the passenger seat of the white truck as Madison was waiting with the engine on.
Then, she backed out and began driving.
The drive was quiet, it was never like this.
We pulled up to a big hotel outside of the city that also had a small waterpark. Madison shut the truck off.
"Let's go" I got out of the truck.
She followed silently behind me as we entered the quiet, empty, lobby.
"Follow me" she quietly told me.
I followed her through the lobby where we were greeted by the receptionist.
We took the elevator up to one of the top floors. When we got to the fourth floor, I could hear faint music playing from the end of the hallway.
We walked to where we heard music coming from. I'm surprised they haven't gotten a complaint.
The door was propped open, and Madison looked at me.
She grabbed my hand and placed the keys in them.
She slowly opened the door, revealing teens drinking and smoking. Chance was sitting in one of the chairs in the corner of the room. He saw us and his eyes widened.

The room was connected to another one. It was a suite.
Madison stayed by my side as I slowly walked in. The bathroom was by the door and surprised me when a girl who was smiling while fixing her clothes came out.
Followed by Darren who was buttoning up his shirt and fixing his disheveled hair. He seemed so pleased. I looked at Madison who was looking at the ground. I looked across the room at Chance who was walking in our direction.
Darren didn't notice us in the doorway as he met with Chance smiling. Chance was looking at me, with guilt in his eyes.
Darren's back was facing us, I looked over at Madison, confused.
"Did he?" I asked her.
"Yeah" she said quietly, "He's been doing this since you told him you needed space"
I looked back at Chance... And Darren who noticed me.
His smile was fading away, his eyes didnt hold excitement but more of guilt.
"I need to tell you something" Madison told me after I walked out of the room shutting the door. Breaking down in tears. How could he? I thought we were just patching things up with our relationship.
It felt like my heart was heavy, and i couldn't breathe with my crying.
I steadied my breathing and wiped away my tears, staring at my best friend.
"I accidentally-" she was interrupted by the door opening and shutting. I looked at Darren, with him leaving the bathroom with a girl replaying in my head. Chance stood by him.
I looked at Madison who looked at Darren.
"I accidentally slept with Darren" she began to cry. I looked at Madison who was looking at Chance.
"I'm so sorry, Chance" her voice broke.
I looked at Darren who was staring at me, "is it true?" I spoke quietly.
He looked down at the ground and back at me. Slowly nodding his head.
I looked at Chance who backed away from the two, next to me.
Madison, looked at me, with her eyes red, "I'm so sorry, Mase" as tears streamed down her cheeks.
I looked at Darren, who was looking at me with tears brimming his eyes, "I'm so sorry, Maisie, I love you"
I looked at the two people who I loved the most. Not wanting to believe what they just confessed.
"Why?" I started to cry, "When?"
"The Halloween party" I looked at Chance who was glaring at the two.
"What?" I stared at Madison and Darren.
"They got drunk, and I didn't see them the entire night until we had to leave" Chance explained with no emotions, staring at Madison.
I was confused, "But that wasn't possible, it was on a Monday night" I looked at Darren and Chance who adverted his stare at his best friend.
"I just can't understand" he pulled his hair.
I stared at the two, "Me either"
"Why?" Chance began crying, looking at Madison.
"I don't know, before, Darren and I had a fling before Maisie found out she was pregnant"
I began crying again, feeling someone wrap their arms around me.
The smell of cologne was familiar. I cried harder as I found my strength to push Darren away.
I looked at him, "I loved you"
"I love you too" his voice cracked as he cried.
"Why" i wiped away my tears.
He opened his mouth, but nothing came out. I started to uncontrollably cry.
I looked at Madison, "I can't believe you"
I gripped the keys in my hand, wiping away the tears.
I looked at Darren was look hurt, guilty, and heartbroken.
I looked at Chance, "You knew he was doing all this and never told me?"
He was taken back before nodding his head.
"Have fun" I said as I slowly backed away, and turned my back on them.
"Wait! Maisie!" Madison yelled, "I never meant to intentionally hurt you, you're my best friend" I pressed the elevator button, ignoring her.
She touched my shoulder, "But you did" I glared at her red eyes, "and you don't have the right to call me that anymore" I stepped away from her.
Darren stood next to her, "I'm so dumb, I'm so sorry" he grabbed my hands.
The elevator door opened.
"I should've known something like this would happen" I pulled my hands from him. Seeing him crying, and apologizing made my heart hurt.
I stepped in the elevator, seeing Madison and Darren looking like a mess.
With the doors closing, I began to cry.
I was so hurt.
He's going to hurt you.
Madison's words were finally starting to make sense. What she forgot was that she was going to hurt me too.
My phone began to ring with calls from Darren. I shut my phone off, and tried to regulate my breathing.
Time to be strong without a guy. Or a best friend.
