I'd settled in pretty quickly, his parents were super nice. Every day, Clay drove me to school, and we had a lot of classes together.
We were approaching the end of senior year quickly, and I wasn't dreading graduation for once. Even though I'd tried to convince them out of it, Clay's parents were paying for me to go to university with him. I was beyond excited, even though I did feel bad.
Nick and Karl, unsurprisingly, dropped the bomb on us one day that they were dating now. We'd all congratulated them, even though it was prettt obvious already.
As summer was approaching, I was steadily regaining my strength and putting on weight. Clay's mom was a really good cook, so it would've happened anyways.
All in all, life was good. I was living with, and also dating, the most attractive and nice guy I knew, and I wasn't homeless anymore. What more could I ask for?

Each one leaving some sort of disaster in their wake. Each one, not quite fit for this world. A young boy's family, killed in an accident, only he and his sister survived the night. After that, they were split up, each taken in by a different relative. It has been eight years since the flames engulfed his home and most of his family. With his magic powers finally showing itself, he goes off to a magic academy to better learn about his newfound powers. But as he grows, something else does as well. The voice inside his head, the thing that influences his thoughts, the monster that he wish was gone, the devil inside his heart. This is a tale about connections. NOTE: The story will be slow for many of the chapters and the time will also match it, ex: goes by day by day. The time mostly will be used for introducing and adding to characters. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. Yep, the only way this could possibly get worse is if the world they were stealing the system from belonged to Principal Sieva, the woman who managed to murder (temporarily) another god. Oh, wait.
