《Notes in My Locker》LVIII. Getting There In Time

Chapter 58,
Whatever happens, you run and run. Don't stop, even if we separate.
We were sitting down, my feet were sore and so were my legs.
I took a deep breath and lied on my back, the sun was starting to rise and I haven't gotten sleep.
I mean I didn't want to, I needed to get back to Earth.
After a bit, the sun was out and shining down at us.
I grabbed Elizabeth's hand and we ran, I kept thinking about how I'll never see the twins grow up.
Tears streamed down my face, I ran faster and accidentally tripped over a log.
I screamed as my leg was impaled with a stick, blood gushed out.
I bit my lip as Elizabeth bent down and gripped the stick, I looked at her and nodded.
She took the stick out and ripped a piece of her dress off, she wrapped it around my leg tightly.
She helped me up and we ran faster, I looked at her scared.
We heard a sound, Elizabeth didn't stop to check it though, we continued running no matter what.
That's when the sound got louder, I looked back and saw a weird looking figure.
"Don't make eye contact!"
Elizabeth screamed at me, I looked forward and we were seeing the end of the forest.
Elizabeth couldn't hold onto me anymore, she let go of me and we ran side by side.
We got out of the forest and were now looking at a maze, this was the worst time of my life.
We ran into the maze, we found dead ends but we got into the right track quickly.
Whatever happens, you run and run. Don't stop, even if we separate.
Elizabeth said as we went from running to walking.
I nodded slowly, we continued running until we got to side where there were two holes.

I looked at Elizabeth, she nodded and ran into the right one, I ran to the left and didn't stop running.
That's when I heard her screaming, I turned back and ran over to the right hole but it was no longer there.
I was alone and afraid, I ran back to the left hole and didn't stop running.
Soon there was light and I found the way out, I didn't want to go through without Elizabeth.
It felt wrong to do, but she never came back and I didn't hear a sound from her.
I slowly approached the light and soon I was falling, I was screaming.
This must have been what Elizabeth was screaming about, it felt like I was never going to reach the ground.
Soon I landed on my back and groaned, the wind was knocked out of me.
I was back in the hospital but I was still wearing my dress and I still had a messed up leg, that's when a door from a room opened.
There was my mom, she looked destroyed and she was crying hard.
"Mom..?"
My voice cracked as I spoke softly, I ran to her and jumped into her arms only to fall face first on the ground.
I groaned and looked at her, she shivered but didn't see me.
I put my hand through her stomach and screamed, I cried harder.
I was worried I didn't make it in time, that's when Elizabeth fell down.
"Elizabeth!"
I screamed, she got up and hugged me tightly, she grabbed my hand and we began to run around the hospital.
I was confused once more, what were we searching for?
"We must connect your spirit to your body, keep looking!"
I nodded and ran through doors and walls, I was desperate to find my body.

I soon watched as the surgery room opened, that's when I saw my body.
They wheeled me out and they looked like they were taking me back to my room, I ran as fast as I could.
I watched as they took me to a different room and shut the door, soon my mom walked in.
I wasn't able to go through the door, I was banging and kicking it as I was getting frustrated.
Warm tears replaced my cold ones, I heard screaming and crying.
"NATALIE! NO!"
I recognized the screaming and crying, it belonged to my mother.
I died, I was right outside of the door that refused to open for me, I was close to returning to my body and I had died.
I screamed louder knowing nobody could have heard me except Elizabeth, she ran towards me and hugged me.
She rubbed my back and pulled away from me.
"Did you make it in time?"
She asked, I shook my head and she started crying.
"Did, did you?"
I asked, my voice was cracked completely and hoarse.
She nodded slowly and looked away, she pointed to the two doors down from us.
"Go, go be apart of your family."
I said, ushering her to run to the room and take the chance while she still had it.
Instead she grabbed my arm and kissed me, it was all so sudden.
Soon she pulled away and cried, I was confused on what had happened.
"May the butterfly kiss serve you good."
I looked at Elizabeth angry, she gave up her chance at life to give me another chance at mine.
I shook my head and went in to kiss her but she denied it.
"Elizabeth no!"
I was a mess, I looked at her and grabbed her hand.
She pulled me into a hug and we stood hugging for a moment before she shoved me into the room where I fell back into my body.
After hours I slowly felt weird, it was like my body and soul were connecting and fixing each other.
Soon everything became clear.
The only thing I heard was the sound of my monitor, beeping once more.
