Chapter 61, Welcome Home
If you want me to trust you and forgive you, you have to work for it. I've learned to stop being a push over.
It was time for me to go home, I was wearing sweat pants and a long sleeved shirt, Euphoria ended in August, I was hit by a car in early September.
I'm leaving the hospital in the middle of October, I had a lot to catch up in school.
I put on my Crocs and brushed my hair in a low messy ponytail, Jaden walked in the room with a smile.
He grabbed my hand and we walked out of the room happily, he told me that he's now dating Dani and he couldn't be more happy.
Of course I was happy for them, I mean they truly found love thanks to me.
We walked to the car and he helped me into the backseat, Jayla was driving us to my house.
I watched as the scenery changed, everything was going in a blur.
We got to my house, Jaden helped me out and wrapped his arm around my waist and I wrapped my arm around his neck.
My thigh had the cut, it appeared last week when I accidentally fell.
We got inside and immediately was congratulated with my arrival, I smiled and sat down on the couch.
After some moments, I went to the kitchen to grab some lemonade when Javon walked in.
"I'm the last person you want to see but please, I know I messed up a bunch of times but I can't not talk to you."
Javon said as he walked over to me, I looked away from him and nodded slowly.
I had to make a careful decision, I didn't want people to call me dumb.

"Javon, you hurt me a bunch of times."
I said, he winced at my words, I'm guessing it caused him to remember the times I had gotten hurt whenever we argued.
I looked away and sighed, I looked back at him and smiled.
"I just want us to be good again, even if you're going to be with someone else."
He finally said, I nodded again.
I had no idea what to say, I wanted him to just give me time to process everything.
If you want me to trust you and forgive you, you have to work for it. I've learned to stop being a push over.
I said, I was proud of myself for setting a bit of boundary between us.
People needed to know that I was done being a door mat, I needed respect and I was going to get it.
Javon nodded and smiled, he went to give me a hand shake but I denied it.
Instead I pulled him into a hug, he hugged back after a moment and pulled away.
I grabbed my cup and went to the living room, we began to talk about the things I missed.
Mila and Milo already said their first words and ate their first solid foods, I was upset that I missed that but glad that I'll be here to witness the rest of their firsts.
As the sun set and everyone left, I sat in the living room alone and in the dark.
I learned to be comfortable alone, whether it meant dying alone or not.
I closed my eyes and opened them, suddenly there was a sound coming from the kitchen.
I've faced death so many times to be scared of dying already, I got up from the couch and saw Elizabeth.
The song Are You With Me? By Nilu played in my head, my eyes watered as I saw my favorite person angel.

She had a gorgeous halo hovering over her head and gorgeous white wings.
She was wearing a beautiful white dress and a flower crown, I looked at her and smile.
We come into the world, worse for the wear. But the fathers are not ours to bear.
I felt my breath hitch, I looked at her and everything went back into slow motion.
I felt like nothing could harm me when I was in presence of Elizabeth, she looked at me with a smile as well.
She opened her arms and in slow motion I felt, I ran over to her.
Don't give up, no not yet.
As I got closer to her, I slowly stopped running and went into a sprint.
Are you with me? Are you in, or are you out?
I leaped into her arms, she caught me and twirled me around.
For the first time I didn't cry, but I let out a laugh.
After a moment she set me down and kissed my forehead before she vanished into thin air, I went to bed praying we would see each other again.
Even if it meant I'd die at an early or later age, I wanted to see her.

A (Not So) Simple Fetch Quest
Oh great hero! The evil Demon Lord has once again arisen to terrorise our lands, and we have summoned you to save our people! No, we don't want you to fight the demon lord! Of course not; we're the good guys! What sort of good guys kidnap people from other worlds and force them to take part in wars that have nothing to do with them? That would just be plain evil! We'd be no better than the demons! Katie, after her summoning by an excessively loud mage suddenly takes an unexpected twist, is sent off on a simple fetch quest, with a promise that she'll be back home in five minutes at most. She doesn't even need to leave the building. Alas, when a goddess' blessing causes her wish for an actual adventure to be taken rather more literally than she expected, she finds herself lost in a dark cave, far away from the sword she was supposed to acquire and far too close to a population of giant bugs. Still, at least she wished her life wasn't in any danger. Among other things. Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it. This is a dark litRPG adventure, both in terms of Katie accidentally wishing all the lights out, and also in that she loses as often as she wins, often with horrific and disturbing consequences. Luckily, Katie isn’t the sort of person to let a mere grizzly death or two get her down, and is prepared to try, try and try again to get her hands on the holy sword and finally complete her ‘simple’ fetch quest. Or perhaps—with a few resistance skills under her nightie—she might even come to enjoy losing. Not that she’d ever consider forgoing revenge, even if she did. I’ve ticked all the content warning checkboxes for this one. There’s no explicit sexual content, but there are enough references to justify the warning. Profanity happens rarely, but Katie isn’t averse to swearing when she gets particularly angry. As for gore/trauma, it doesn’t get much worse than the first few chapters, but there will be occasional chapters that have extra content warnings.

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
