This is actually the first thing I wrote when I started to write, I just put it in a different order. So the writing is probably bad but as long as I improve I don't care

'Which book should I read...' I ponder to myself as my eyes dart around the large towering book shelf in front of me. It was filled to the brim with different subjects and topics of different lengths, difficulties, and languages.
Even though it looked like a normal bookshelf, it meant a lot to all of us. The gang built this bookshelf together and contributed every single one of the books, and as the years went on it grew from just 3 or 4 books to hundreds, all contained in this one bookshelf. I continued skimming the titles before stopping on something that peaked my interest.
"Meteorology?" I questioned, I've never heard such a thing before. I pull it out of its shelf only to quickly realize that it was a lot more bulky than I expected. The books that were tightly packed into the shelf, although not alive, seemed to have eagerly taken the opportunity to fill the empty space given to them. I glance at the front cover. The book had an array of different weather photos of large tornadoes, hurricanes, hail, ect.
I opened the book to a random page just to sadly find a lot of math formulas. When I say 'a lot' I mean the entire page was full of complex physics formulas that looked like a whole other language.
I sighed and concluded it must have been one of Fugo's books. Only a genius could understand whatever the fuck those formulas were trying to say. I closed the book and skimmed the bookshelf again trying to remember where I got the book from.
But as always, while I'm lost in my thoughts the quietness is always going to be interrupted. The sound of eager footsteps going up the stairs echoed the hallway into the room I'm in. But that sound came to an abrupt end and was replaced soon after by the louder sound of dull banging, as if someone fell down the stairs.
"Fuuuck." a familiar voice hisses
I run out of the room to said staircase to find Narancia at the bottom of the stairs, cradiling his knee in his hands whispering expletives to himself.
"Oh my god Narancia what happened?" I make my way down the stairs, being careful in case there was something on the stairs that could lead me to the same fate as him.
"I-" he hisses in pain, his facial expression making it obvious that whatever happened to his knee wasn't good.
"I fell up the stairs." he looks away from me
"You fell up?" I questioned in disbelief
"Yeah."
I walk over to him, he looks like he was trying to hold back tears.
He was wearing a simple loose fitting grey t-shirt and black shorts. Nothing fancy since it was his day off.
"Can I look at your knee?" I question, he looks back at me then looks at his knee and removes his hand.
"Yeah sure, but don't touch it."
I kneel down, and just by gazing at his knee the problem became very painfully obvious.
"Oh my god you poor baby..." I said with obvious pity in my voice. He sniffles as a redness starts to paint his cheeks from a mix of embarrassment and pain.
Examining his knee I immediately noticed it was tomato red and swollen, it looked painfully off, something was wrong with the knee itself but what that is was something a doctor could figure out.

I sighed and got up then looked down at him. I've never seen him look so embarrassed and shy before, it was very unusual. Usually when something like this happened he'd be crawling around screaming for Bucciarati like a toddler who shat their pants and needed a new diaper. But all he was doing now was sniffling and holding back tears, not daring to move an inch or make a scene.
He looked back up at me with a tear going down his face. I just feel like hugging him and telling him it'll all be okay but at the same time I don't want to touch him, as if he was made of glass and one wrong move would cause him to shatter.
"Am I going to be okay (y/n)? You look worried..." he says which snaps me out of my thoughts
"Oh-I-yeah you'll be fine." I smiled at him.
He nods, we stood there for a moment both lost in thought
'What am I supposed to do now?' I pondered
"Can you" Narancia interrupts my thoughts once again, he pauses for a moment, gathering his words
"Can you bring me upstairs? I don't think I can get up though..." he looks at his knee and shivers at the sight.
My eyes widen, and I shyly looked away. I like him, but it's a small petty crush, a hopeless dream that would never come true. I've never really talked to him this much before, let alone gotten close to him. We didn't go on missions together often because of our stands.
My stand was quite sluggish and chunky and could barely move, while his was fast and agile.
But the real problem was my stands ability, to put it in simple words it can make something incredibly fast like bullets and planes become incredibly slow, and horribly slow things like snails and sloths become incredibly fast. It would make his stand become incredibly vulnerable and weak.
So I wasn't put on missions often because of how situational it was, but when the stars align my stand becomes almost unstoppable, like a bear who hasn't eaten in weeks.
"Oh uh...yeah sure I'll carry you up." His pained expression turns into a happy one as a big smile infects his face.
"Thank you thank you thank you!" his childish energy returns suddenly, it's almost like nothing happened to him in the first place.
I kneel down and put one hand around his back and the other under his waist and lift him up. He hisses occasionally as his leg sways from the movement of going up the stairs.
"Alright we're here." I announce, the door was already open so I walked in and gently laid him on the bed.
He grabs the blankets and puts it over his chest.
"Thank you so much (y/n), really, I appreciate it." he smiles
Oh m y heart
"Oh you're w-welcome."
Why am I getting so flustered oh no no no this is so fucking dumb
"Do you need anything?" I questioned, but I just can't look him in the eye
"Uhhhhhh..." he thinks, but after a while I had to interrupt
"Do you want me to get Bucciarati?"
"Yeah, I was going to say that." he pouts lightly
"Anything to drink?"
"Uhhhhhhhhh..."
Before he even began to think I interrupted him
"Water?"
"Yeah." He immediately agrees, I didn't think he'd want water knowing him but it didn't really matter, he needed something to drink.
"Alright I'll be back."

I make my way down the stairs, the quietness from before returning.
I make my way into the living room, Fugo was sitting on the couch reading a book.
"Hey Fugo." I make my way to the couch and sit on it, crossing my legs.
"Hey." He replies, not bothering to look away from his book.
"Have you seen Bucciarati? Do you know where he is?" I question
He looks up from his book and sighs.
"He went out with Mista and Abbacchio, what did Narancia do?" He stares at me, I could tell his temper was already rising.
"He uh...uhhhhhhhh...he-"
"I'll get the bandages." He closes his book and places it on the coffee table next to him. Getting up and walking over to a cabinet in the kitchen where the medical supplies were while I grabbed a water bottle.
We both start making our way up the staircase, the door was still open and Narancia was playing on the game boy we got him last Christmas, he looks over and smiles, but that smile quickly turns into a frown, sad that he see's Fugo instead of Bucciarati.
"Narancia what did you do?" Fugo walks over to the boy who put down his game boy and held onto his blankets tightly
"I didn't do anything..." he looks away from us
"Oh? Then what was that sound earlier?" Fugo just stares at him, minutes went on as Narancia spit out lie after lie to avoid Fugo getting into it, and even though Fugo's facial expression didn't change, you could feel the anger from Narancia's lying and avoiding build up in him, which was scary knowing what happens when he reaches his limit.
"Fine I fell up the stairs and I fell down and I hurt my knee..." Narancia gives in knowing damn well what would happen if he kept going.
But the rage in Fugo didn't subside from that response, it made it worse.
"You fell up the stairs?" Fugo's expression turns into one of disbelief
"Yeah." Naracia says
"Oh my fucking god." Fugo rubs his temples, trying to find some kind of logic out of it.
"How do you fall the fucking stairs then go back down?" Fugo yells at the boy, who slowly started to hide under the blanket.
"I'm surprised you didn't start screaming like a fucking maniac, maybe because you knew (y/n) was up there and you didn't want to bother her since you seem to enjoy talking to her so much. You never pull fits like that when she's around I don't fucking understand why." He sighs and Narancia looks at him with shock
"Fugo it was a mistake we all do dumb shit sometimes." I tried to reason with him
"He does this a little too often, (y/n)."
"Can I just have my water?" Narancia begs, I walk over to him and hand him the water bottle, which he immediately grabs and drinks.
Fugo sighs and walks out without saying a word, leaving me and Narancia.
There was a moment of somewhat uncomfortable silence. It took me a moment to process what Fugo said, Narancia was probably thinking the same thing too.
"So Narancia, how are you feeling?" I questioned, trying to break the silence.
"I'm feeling better I guess..." his voice trailed off, something was wrong with him.
"Well you don't sound fine." I pouted
"Well I am fine." He looks over at me and notices my expression which makes him look away from me.
I didn't want to start fighting the truth out of him like Fugo did so I got up and made my way to the door.
"Well if you're fine then I guess you don't need me..." I said
"Wait no no stayyyy please!" His voice changed to a pleading tone.
"Will you tell me what's wrong if I stay, and tell the truth?" I turned around to face him. He hesitated before nodding slowly.
I walked to his bed and sat down slowly, making sure not to bother his knee before facing him.
"Do you know what Fugo was talking about?" The boys face turned tomato colored almost instantly upon hearing the question.
"I do but" Narancia paused
"But what?"
"It's...embarrassing" He shy's away from my gaze
"It can't be that bad." I tried to comfort him, but it seemed to only make him feel worse.
"Fine, I'll fucking say it. I'm tired of hiding my emotions." He grabs my hand which catches me by surprise
"I..." He pauses, taking a deep breath in then letting it out.
"I think I might love you (y/n)... I'm not sure." I can feel my face turning the same color as his and my heart beating rapidly.
"Wh-what do you mean you think?" I didn't expect this but at the same time, somehow I did.
"Well when I see you you're just...you're just so kind to the others and me, plus you're really really pretty and when I see you I feel like I'm melting. It's not fair (y/n), you're just so perfect to me." Narancia began to sniffle
"There's no way you could love someone like me, like Fugo said I'm stupid, I made you go through all this trouble all because I'm clumsy..."
Narancia's voice began to trail off into a sob. This poor baby somehow convinced himself that I didn't love him back.
"No no no don't cry please!" I pleaded
I sat him up and pulled him into a hug (carefully of course)
He melted into the embrace and started to sob even harder than before into the crook of my neck, tears beginning to stain my shirt. I patted his back, allowing him to let it all out. I could tell he has been keeping all of this in for a while, but for how long is something I have absolutely no clue about.
After a good 5 to 10 minutes of just pure sobbing, he began to calm down until all that was left of the outburst was just sniffling.
"You know Narancia, you shouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly..."
"What do you mean?" He said, moving his head just a little so he could speak while still hugging me
"Well I love you too Narancia, I didn't realize you liked me until now, I guess I was pretty oblivious to the fact until now..."
The boy unwrapped his hands around me to look at me, his eyes were red and puffy along with his tear stained cheeks.
"Do you really mean that?" He questioned
"Yes, I do mean it, if I didn't why would I tell you that?"
He stared at me for a moment, then his face transformed from one of sorrow and despair to one of pure happiness and joy.
The boy cupped my face for a moment, staring into my (e/c) eyes before kissing me on the lips. I hesitantly kissed back, having never done such a thing before, let alone thinking I could experience such a thing. He didn't seem experienced either, but was still very passionate. His hands began to explore my body, from my neck, to my back, then my hips, then other...places. It was like he was letting out all the feelings he kept hiding inside of him, a mix of lust and pure adoration.
After a few minutes of this he pulled away, causing me to pout.
He smirked at this, he kissed my cheek before grabbing me to lay down with him.
"I'm so happy that you love me back (y/n), I just can't explain it." He kisses my cheek one more and snuggles into my chest.
I wrap my arm around him and began to play with his hair, which he happily hums in response to.
"Pwese don weab me (Y/N), stei here for tonite." he murmured almost inaudibly into my chest.
"I won't Narancia, don't worry." I comfort him.
I gaze around the room while holding Nara tightly, looking for any sign of the time, I noticed on a small table on the other side of the room a small digital clock.
'11:48'
When did it get so late? It doesn't matter though...
I close my eyes, the sounds of soft snoring tells me that Narancia has already fallen asleep, and I slowly do the same...
❤
"About fucking time, Narancia got himself hurt again." Fugo tells the 3 men walking in the door
"Of course he did." Abbacchio says, dropping a bag from the mission on the floor
"That's just how he is Fugo." Bucciarati makes his way to the kitchen, opening the cabinet with the first aid kit, but finds it empty
"It's in Narancia's room, I brought it up there with (Y/N)." Fugo explains
"Where is she?" Bucciarati questions, closing the cabinet
"Probably upstairs." Fugo says
"Does she know what happened to him?" Bucciarati asks Fugo once again
"He fell up the stairs and somehow fell, I don't know how bad he hurt himself, you can ask (Y/N) that." Fugo responds, a hint of annoyance evident in his voice
The four boys make their way up the stairs, but opening Narancia's door was a sight they didn't expect.
(Y/N)'s arms were wrapped oh so lovingly around the boy they were looking for
"Hold on" Mista makes his way to his room, grabbing a camera and quickly taking a photo and giggling
Abbacchio sighs, knowing damn well how annoying tomorrow was going to be, Fugo and Bucciarati were proud of him, knowing that this was something he dreamed about since she joined the gang...

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.

The year is 2040, technology has progressed on all fronts, but no field has shown as much growth as Virtual Reality. Aelios Online is the latest of innovations in the field, creating an entirely different world that its players may "dive" into. The world of Aelios itself is a world of both magic and technology, with the city of Retissia offering a more magical landscape compared to the more industrial streets of Gram. While the design of the world is impressive, the real draw of Aelios Online is its master AI, RIN. Quests, NPCs, the very shape of Aelios itself are all dictated by RINs response to player action and behavior, and over the course of the 5 years that Aelios Online has been active, the world has been changed in unimaginable ways. For every player action, there is a RIN reaction, and that has remained true throughout the game's entire runtime. There are many stories, many legends, that have been carved into the world of Aelios, but here we focus on two new players to the world. One aims to create in this new world, the other, to escape.
