《Little Thief (Black Butler G/T)》Chapter Seven

Sebastian hand sew the final stitch and heaved a relieved sigh. "There, finished." Glancing over his shoulder for probably the hundredth time, he watched Kadence sleep for a few seconds before standing from his desk chair, tiny maid uniform in hand.
Kadence rolled onto her side on the pillow, her tiny form curling into a fetal position where she lay. Her red hair fell into her face, practically hiding it, and the bottom of the dress fanned out around her feet. To Sebastian, she looked rather peaceful despite her constant nervousness and fear. Still, something about her appearance made him feel a slight disgust.
"Kadence, it is time to wake up, I have finished your uniform," Sebastian speaks calmly in as soft a tone as he can to avoid startling the Borrower. But she doesn't respond. "Kadence?"
The redhead remained still, her chest rising and falling while she breathed. She wasn't dead at least. Was she ignoring him? Or was she just that tired that she's practically out cold? "Kadence." He repeats her name, his left brow twitching in annoyance. He had things to do, he can't be delayed by some 'Borrower' who refuses to cooperate.
With a wave of his hand, he jostled the pillow she lays on and the tiny female rolled onto the bed covers. Kadence sat upright, a fearful look on her pale features as she stared up at the crimson eyed butler. "Wh-What was th-that for?!" She squeaked out.
"You would not wake up, and your uniform is complete. So it is time for you to change and we will go to the master to get your list of chores. I shall give you your privacy, simply call my name if you need me or when you are done changing." Sebastian's instructions were simple, and he didn't allow the Borrower to speak a word to him before he left the room; closing the wooden door behind him.

Kadence picked up the skillfully crafted maid uniform in her arms, looking over each stitch and detail in amazement. How had he done this so fast? It was amazing.
Once she was sure the intimidating man was gone, she slipped out of the teal gown given to her by the butler and pulled the maid's uniform on over her head. There were stockings, shoes, and even an apron too. It was almost enough to make her feel normal. Human. But she had to remember she was standing on a bed far too large for her, and if she tried to get down she could be killed. A human wouldn't.
Securing the apron around her waist and tying the black boots around her ankles, she thought briefly to herself. Chores? What on earth would that frightening Earl make her do? Try and wash dishes? Cook? Take care of that horrifying beast of a dog outside? She shuddered at the thought of that animal.
Sebastian stood outside of the door, leaning back against the wall while he waited for the tiny female to call for him. He decided to gather his thoughts, wondering just what his Master thought she could do. Then again, he didn't really care. But he couldn't learn anything about Borrowers if the only one he has met dies of exhaustion or of whatever she is to do.
His heightened hearing picked up Kadence's quiet voice calling for him behind the door, so straightened his tie and pushed it open. Expecting to find her still on the bed, he was surprised to see her standing in fact right near the door. "That's dangerous for you to do," He spoke in a calm tone, kneeling down and placing his hand palm up on the floor near her. "You could have gotten hurt."

"It doesn't matter to you anyway." Kadence boldly responded, stepping onto the gloved hand and gripping onto the tip of Sebastian's finger for balance when he started moving.
"You are wrong, for the Master stated I am the one to look after you so look after you I shall."
"Exactly. You don't care, you just don't want to get yelled at." She bravely continued, though her legs were starting to shake. She really needed to quit running her mouth, it's going to get her killed one day.
Sebastian stopped in the middle of the hall, turning a pair of harsh ruby eyes toward her. He spoke with a voice that was frighteningly gentle, and despite the hard look in his eyes, he looked calm. "If you are going to be like that perhaps I should simply lock you up in a drawer, perhaps your attitude would change." A too kind smile perched on his lips as he continued his way down the hall.
Kadence stared up into the butlers face, her emerald eyes wider than ever. How is he so calm when threatening someone like that? He just seems so emotionless. And his eyes, it was clear he is already very annoyed or possibly even angry with her. "W-Well I-" She stopped short and bit her tongue, lowering her head to stare at her feet. "Y-Yes, sir."
Sebastian could sense something was off. And this time it wasn't a Borrower following him around. This was outside the mansion. He'd have to handle that soon, but first, to fetch Kadence's list of chores.
The raven-haired man stopped once again outside of Ciel's study door, rapping softly on the wood. "Young Master, I-" Not finishing his sentence, Sebastian's eyes narrowed and very slowly he lowered his hand. "Kadence, go. Now. Hide and do not come out until I come for you. And if you try and run away in the process, I won't hesitate to hunt you down and kill you myself."
He could sense a presence in the study that did not belong to his Master. And he didn't feel like having Kadence figure out what he was just yet. The redhead looked up at him, seeming very confused, but one stern look from him sent her running to hopefully follow his instructions. Gripping the brass handle of the door, he pushed it open and disappeared into the room, the door closing with a loud thud behind him.

Build a Dungeon. Slay Heroes. Survive Finals. Wounded Army vet Logan Murray thought mimics were the stuff of board games and dungeon manuals… right up until one ate him. In a flash of snapping teeth, Logan suddenly finds himself on the doorstep to another world. He’s been unwittingly recruited into the Shadowcroft Academy for Dungeons—the most prestigious interdimensional school dedicated to training the monstrous guardians who protect the Tree of Souls from so-called heroes. Heroes who would destroy the universe if it meant a shot at advancement. Unfortunately, as a bottom-tier cultivator with a laughably weak core, Logan’s dungeon options aren’t exactly stellar, and he finds himself reincarnated as a lowly fungaloid, a three-foot-tall mass of spongy mushroom with fewer skills than a typical sewer rat. If he’s going to survive the grueling challenges the academy has in store, he’ll need to ace the odd assortment of classes—Fiendish Fabrication, Dungeon Feng Shui, the Ethics of Murder 101—and learn how to turn his unusual guardian form into an asset instead of a liability. And that’s only if the gargoyle professor doesn’t demote him to a doomed wandering monster first…
