《Little Thief (Black Butler G/T)》Chapter Forty-two

Ciel sipped his tea, gazing at the demon in front of him from behind the rim of his cup. Sebastian was off and on gazing from his work towards the window to the gardens. A snort passed his lips, catching his butler's attention.
"Is something amusing, my Lord?" Sebastian questioned as he gathered up the dishes from that breakfast.
"Is she still refusing to speak to you?" Ciel mused, setting his teacup down to rest his chin on his hands. "I assume with how you gaze at my gardens, she is with Finnian this morning rather than helping you."
"And she has no intention of returning inside to help with dishes. She's going to move on and help Meyrin with the laundry. Though that tends to simply involve gossip between the two more so than getting anything done."
"Then you should've just said it. Saved yourself the trouble. You said it yourself, what you feel is as close to love that you as a demon can get." Pushing himself from his seat, Ciel approached the window to look out at Finnian. He couldn't see Kadence from this distance, but no doubt where the blonde's gaze was was where she is. "So technically it wouldn't have been a lie."
"That is...similar to what she said," Sebastian said with a heavy sigh.
"Because she is clearly smarter than you, and is right." Smirking, Ciel turned to face his butler and touched his eyepatch with two fingers. "Do not tell me I have to order you to go speak with her."
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Finny, no!" Kadence laughed, using one hand to cover her mouth as the gardener struggled to put the heads of flowers he accidently tore off back on. "Don't worry, accidents happen."
The younger boy let out a low huff, turning his cyan colored eyes towards her. "But they happen a lot with me, and Bard, and Meyrin. And Sebastian never makes mistakes, so he always gets angry with us."
Kadence needed a moment to keep herself from saying something spiteful, and instead allowed herself to laugh again. "Don't worry. He's made a mistake or two recently." Alright, perhaps just a little spiteful.

"Have I? I wasn't aware," the deep voice startled both Finnian and the Borrower, causing them to turn suddenly to stare the butler. One of his thin brows were raised, a questioning expression on his face. His arms folded neatly over his chest made him look just as menacing as he seemed he was trying to appear.
Finny fumbled over his words, tears quickly brimming in his eyes as he tried to come up with a way to explain what happened to the flowers. But Kadence knew the demon wasn't out here for that.
His ruby eyes turned her way, and confirmed her suspicions. "Kadence, my dear, may we please go inside and speak?"
His tone alone made her feel as if she didn't have a choice. If she said no, he'd grab her up anyway. The thought didn't scare her anymore. If he were to grab her, it was always when it came to her safety or when he really needed her to listen. "Fine. We can talk. But make it fast."
Sebastian gathered her into his hands, his touch just as feathery light and delicate as always. His finger absently stroked her hair. If she wasn't still mad at him, she'd let her body melt into the touch and absorb every moment with him. But she was indeed still pissed. Very pissed.
"I know you're angry with me." He started, once they'd gotten to his own chambers.
"Oh, really? You are quite observant, Sebastian. I don't think anyone else would ever see that." The Borrower scoffed and turned her back to him, crossing her arms tightly over her chest.
The sight before him was adorably amusing. Her small body, turned away from him, arms folded in a pout. He'd wanted to try and explain himself again, but, gazing at her in this moment made him think.
He'd almost lost her before. Death nearly stole her from him, and it had hurt him in such a way that he'd never thought possible. And once she'd awakened from her near-death slumber, it was a joy he thought he'd never feel before. A relief that had overtaken him and for the first time in his immortal life made him happy a mortal had not perished.

When he had arrived at the Trancy manor, invited to that party, seeing her in that lavendar gown had made his mouth incredibly dry. It had fit her so nicely. Her red locks had been pulled up in such a way that made her look radiant, elegant. Her outside form was just as beautiful as her inside, her soul.
And if he knew anything, it was a soul. He'd never taken a moment to just...smell hers before. Allow it to take over his senses. Fill him with an insatiable hunger. Not an appetite based hunger, no, but perhaps more of a lustful hunger. He'd always have that hunger for her, even if he couldn't have her in the way he could have a human woman. But that wouldn't stop him from trying to find a way to use her size to a...pleasurable advantage if she so wanted in the future.
But there was no future with her if he didn't think of something fast. "Kadence," he began in a low, soothing voice.
His tone surprised her. As did the finger that trailed up her back, caressing her shoulders next. It sent chills down her spine. But it wasn't hard at all to feel just what he was saying.
Tears brimmed in her eyes, a low sob escaped her lips. The finger traced down her arm and rested on her waist before it then slid back up her sides to her face, wiping away her tears. He didn't have to say a word to understand what he was trying to convey in his own way.
"Y-You won't say it still?" She choked out, knowing the answer. But in this moment, that didn't phase her. He won't say it. He'd never say it. But the gentle, sensual touches he currently used told her everything she wanted to hear, without even hearing a thing.
Turning to face him now, she stood in his palm and grabbed hold of the finger. Biting her lower lip, she took a deep breath, feeling Sebastian's muscles loosen as he allowed her to guide his finger. She rested the tip of it over her chest before clutching it in a tight embrace.
"Kadence." Sebastian crooned her name again, and leaned forward to press his nose into the side of her body, playfully allowing his lips to brush against the skin of her arm. He closed his eyes to rest them, and felt her shift in his hand. He felt her small forehead press against his nose. He felt her tiny body lean down, and surprise him with a hardly noticeable peck on his upper lip. It lit his insides on fire. Sent an excited chill through him. The excitement of being with a woman that he actually felt something for was new. But he enjoyed the feeling. "I will not force you into anything, given the size of yourself. I'd hate for you to hurt yourself...working, too hard."
Kadence's heart fluttered at the suggestion. Though it had been in his actions, the thought being spoken was odd. Unthinkable. Impossible. Impossible...to say no. The more she thought about it, the more it thrilled her. The more it excited her. She'd never done something with anyone, not even another Borrower. His next words only made her feel further sure she was ready.
"If I've frightened you I will back off."
There was no fear. No hesitation in her mind. But the fact he cared more for her than his own lustful needs as a demon was enough to further prove he loved her without even saying it.
Twirling strands of her red hair, she bit the inside of her cheek and gazed up at him. "I...should let Meyrin know to start without me."

Readers choose from a selection of options for participants of a survival game show known as "Can Anyone Beat Level 10?". Each level has some monsters to kill and a boss at the end. Treasure chests and traps are available. Treasure chests, if opened successfully, give decent weapons, first aid kits, etc. If unsuccessful, treasure chests will either explode, taking some health from player or do become permanently closed. Monsters in dungeon levels depend on the theme of the week. This game show occurs on the first week of every month. The game just showed up out of nowhere and many people were interested in it as they attended the live version of the show. As for its mysteries...well, who knows? Maybe someone will solve them some day. But, for now, let the games begin! This is a story that depends on the votes of the viewers using the poll system. I will probably wait a week or so per poll in order to accumulate enough votes. After the week is up, viewers can still vote but it won't affect the story. This is my first interactive fiction so it might not be on par with the better ones. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed reading this story. Thanks.
