《Stuck With Him: Kai Parker》22

"You're going on a date with him!" Damon's voice made me wince, burying my head into my blanket.
"Inside voice Damon." I huffed, sticking my head out the blanket. "We are inside."
He ignored me. "Riley, why are you going on a date with him?"
"Who?" I asked, resting my head on my hand. My head was throbbing and I felt like death.
"Kol."
I fused my eyebrows together and snorted a laugh. "I'm not going on with a date with Kol."
"Yeah you are." He said. "Donavon called and told me, he asked you out and you agreed."
I raised a brow. "I do not recall this."
"It was yesterday." He said, folding his arms over his chest.
"Wait." I paused and groaned. "I was drunk yesterday and Kol came into the grill and ugh." I cringed and ran my hand down my face. "Right I did agree."
"Riley why did you agree?"
"Damon why do you care?" I snapped, looking at him. "Yes, Kol is a psycho but he looks like he'd pretty fun. Not to mention, he's sexy."
He closed his mouth and I hummed. "I'm just trying to make sure you're-"
"Hungover?" I interrupted, holding my head. "So I would appreciate it if you shut up. Your voice is annoying."
Damon scoffed and I rolled my eyes. "It's still disgusting Riley. Dating Kol-"
"Damon, it's not a date. The last thing I want now is a relationship." I cut in. "Now I would like to-"
"You're dating Kol?" Stefan interrupted, walking into my bedroom.
I groaned and rested my heavy head on my hand. "No." I said. "Now both of you Salvatore's get out."
Damon glanced at his brother. "It's a date." He mouthed and Stefan nodded.
"Out!" I snapped, throwing a pillow at the two of them. Damon grinned and winked at me before leaving my room. "Wait Stefan."
He stopped and turned around. I whined. "Can you pass me the pillow back?" I asked, pointing at it on the floor. He laughed and handed it back to me. I smiled and thanked him. "Now leave."
"Fine." He held up his hands. "Have a nice date."
I whined, my head burying into my pillow. "It's not a date."

"For the last time, it's not a date." I repeated for the millionth time.
"Well to Kol it is." Caroline said and I sighed. She rose a brow. "And I personally disagree with it. Riley, I know you don't remember but you were with Kai."
I laughed. "How low can I stoop?"

"Well you are going on a date with Kol." Elena muttered, I rolled my eyes.
"At least I didn't sleep with my boyfriend's brother." I spat with a big smile. "Didn't forget that."
"Look, Riley." Liv said to fill the awkward silence I made. "You should know that I hate Kai more than anything for what he did to Luke, but I like you and you were happy with Kai. We all saw the way you two looked at each other."
I fused my eyebrows together. "What'd he do to Luke?" Everyone's faces went shocked and I tapped my foot on the floor. "Anyone going to answer me?"
"You don't remember?" Tyler asked.
"If I did, I wouldn't have asked." I replied, he rolled his eyes.
"He merged with Luke and won." Elena told me, Liv left the room with tears in her eyes and Tyler followed.
I felt sick to my stomach because Luke was my friend and knowing that he dead felt like a knife to the heart.
"See, this is why I don't want him." I told everyone in a quieter voice. I took a breath and ran my hand through my hair. "Beside isn't it a good thing? I'm giving Kol a second chance."
"Just don't sleep with him." Damon told me, I rolled my eyes and shook my head.
"Why would I sleep with him?"
"Because you slept with Kai." Caroline answered. My eyebrows rose up. I shook my head.
"Willingly." Stefan added.
"Remind me why I can't remember any of this." I said, fusing my eyebrows together.
"Kol compelled you." Caroline told me and I gave her blank look that meant she needed to elaborate. She did. "He removed all of your memories with Kai."
"Kai and I had memories?" Everybody nodded. "How close were we?"
"Very." Damon spoke. He grimaced. "Sometimes unnecessarily close."
"But I'm a witch." I said. "How can he compel me?"
Damon shrugged. "Original vampires are pretty powerful my dear Riley and insanely jealous."
I took a moment to think about what everyone had said. "I think I need to speak to Kai." I put down my sandwich. "To straighten things out."
"Well lover boy original will be here in a matter of hours so I wouldn't see Kai if I was you because I refuse to get my neck snapped again." Damon said and I hummed.
"I guess." I rose up to my feet. "I'm still going to speak to Kol about this."
"It's your funeral." He replied and I narrowed my eyes, while I walked past him. Damon just blew me a kiss and I shook my head.

When I made it in my room, I took a quick shower and got dressed. Brushing through my hair, I stared at myself in the mirror and frowned at the sight of my neck. Raising my eyebrows, I gasped. "Oh god."
"Pretty isn't it?" I jumped and threw my brush at Kai. He caught it and smiled. "Nice reflexes."
"How did you-"
"I'm a powerful warlock and in incredible shape so climbing up to your window and putting a spell on the room is a piece of cake." I stood up and went to the door. I cursed and Kai laughed. "Oh yeah, I definitely left the door open."
"You don't have to be a prick about it." I muttered. Kai laughed and my body tensed when I felt him press me against the door.
His breath hit the back of my neck and I shuddered slightly. "How come you're all dressed up Ri?" Kai asked, his fingertips brushing my hair off my shoulders to reveal the hickey he left.
"I have a date." I said, turning around to face Kai. His eyebrows rose and he chuckled. "With Kol."
His chuckles stops and he looked genuinely confused. "Kol?" He repeated. I nodded and he hummed. "Good luck."
I rose a brow. "What does that mean?" Kai shook his head and sat himself down on my bed. I hesitated but took a step over to him, sitting down beside him. "It is because he compelled me to make me his again."
"I have to give him credit." Kai said, rubbing the back of his neck. "I would've done the same." I rolled my eyes and nudged his arm, making me chuckle.
"Damon said we were close." I didn't look at him but I felt his gaze on me. "Like really close."
I slowly glanced over to him and Kai ran his hand down my cheek. "We are Ri, not were." A small smirk formed on his lips. "I won you over once, I can do it again."
"Even when an original is competing against you?" I smiled but it faded. "Besides I don't remember you or Kol and I just feel conflicted."
His hand fell and he sighed. "I can't make you come back to me Ri." He leaned in and kissed my cheek. "But I'm going to do everything I can to try and make you."
Kai set a book in my lamp, I furrowed and looked at him. "What's this?"
"A lamp." He said with sarcasm leaking from his voice. I scoffed and picked up the book. Opening the first page, I raised a brow while I scanned in the first page.
"When did I write a diary?" I looked up at him and he shrugged and stood up.
"I guess you'll have to read it to find out." He told me and I looked back down at the diary.
"Hey, your name is-" I stopped when I realised Kai was gone and glanced around. "In here." I finished, reading my own writing again. "Malachai Parker."

"Damon." I called, walking around the house. "Damon."
He hummed and raised a brow, holding a glass of bourbon in his hand. "You called."
"I need your advice."
He sighed. "Sorry I'm off duty."
I gave him a look and he winked. "I'm serious." I said, holding up the diary.
He took the book and sipped his drink. Handing me the diary back, he shrugged. "You wrote a diary?"
I rolled my eyes. "No, look. I wrote about Kai, lots about him and I together in a prison world." I flipped through the pages. "Is this what Kol took from me?"
He nodded with sadness in his eyes. I bit back my overwhelming sadness that wanted to show, I felt violated and that my identity had been stripped.
"How could he do that to me?" I asked in a quieter voice.
Damon didn't reply and pulled me in for a short hug. "If it makes you feel any better, I hate originals too."
I let out a small chuckle. "What is a prison world anyways?"
"It's a normal world but it's only one person inside. If it was made for you, then you can never die, but relive the same day over and over again."
"Sounds like hell." Damon nodded. "So was it our prison world?"
"No, it was Kai's." He pointed at me. "You were put in there for pissing off mama original, whereas Bon-bon and myself were in their for being stuck on the other side when it vanished."
"How long was I there?"
"Two years, before Bonnie and I got there. That's how you and Kai got pretty close."
"So how'd I get out?"
"You and I used the ascendant."
I nodded. "I don't remember Kai being there." Damon seemed confused and set down his drink. "I remember being there with you and Bonnie, you always made those pancakes." I smiled for a moment. "But I can't picture Kai there."
Damon rose his eyebrows. "Riley, as your friend I'm telling you to not go on this date tonight."
I nodded. "Yeah I might call Kol and-"
The door bell rang and Damon and I looked at the door then each other. I gulped as did he, finishing the rest of his drink. "I guess Kol's here."

The Core And The Wardens of Eternity
What is the Core, they asked me... It's the light that pushes the darkness away, a bastion of justice, a safe keeper of life. It grooms love and tolerance, embraces science, fights ignorance, sentences it to die a slow and tragic death. The Core... it's something that can't be destroyed for destroying it is to terminate the time and space itself. When the stuck-in-a-dark-age world of Zanria goes offline, the Core sends one of its experienced agents to find out what is going on and to try to reestablish a mysteriously severed connection. However, all his training and experience might come way short as the world sinks in war and chaos with different races and clans fighting for the Star of Bardan, the ward rumored to possess enough supernatural power to create and destroy entire worlds. *** I just changed the name of the series, from 'the Nexus' to 'the Core'. Somehow it just sounds more right to me. This is the first story, and it has a medieval fantasy setting. But, eventually, this is going to turn into Isekai series with elements of LitRPG. So, my future books might include worlds with advanced technologies that might be more in SciFi, including Steampunk, genre. The first book might start slow, but after a few chapters, it should all be properly set up, and by then you should get the feel of how it will all flow. Also, I plan to introduce different story threats that should spread out and criss-cross in the future. Hopefully, I will not complicate it too much, and that it will all read good. I am planning to continue to add chapters to the main storyline here, but I'm also starting a new story threat in the Core series called The Recordings of Raan. There is also a side story The Memoires of Eisen that's exclusive on Patreon for those who would like to support me.
