《Stuck With Him: Kai Parker》29

"Ooh, fancy." I said, observing the hotel room. Kai hummed and set me down onto my feet.
I gained my balance while I stared around the room. It was beautiful. "Wait." I said, Kai hummed, giving me a confused look.
"There's only one bed." I pointed out. I shrugged and patted Kai's cheek. "I guess you'll sleep on the floor."
Kai rolled his eyes with a smirk. "Whatever. We'll share since it's not the first time we've been in the same bed together."
"Not the first time, we've been in the same bed together." I mimicked, taking off Zeke and throwing him on the drawers.
Kai just laughed as I jumped on the bed, laying down. It was as soft as a cloud. "Whoever made this bed, needs an award." I mumbled, sitting up and looking at Kai.
He nodded. "Are you hungry?"
"I'm always hungry, especially now. I want Chinese, Malachai." I said, he nodded. "Don't kill anyone to get it."
A smirk formed on his lips and I laughed, staring up at the ceiling with my feet dangling in the air. I was in love with that bed.
"No promise, Ri. I'll be back in a minute."
"Take your time." I sang, hearing the door shut after he left.

"We could leave you know?" I told Kai while we laid in the bed with sheets covering us. I glanced at him, he looked back at me.
"Just us, leave Mystic Falls." I added with a shrug. "Go wherever."
"I can't, Ri." Kai replied, glancing back at the ceiling. I sighed with disappointment, turning on my side to look at him clearer. He put his gaze back on me.
"Why?" I sighed. "Kai, there's nothing there for us." He didn't reply and I rested my head on his bare chest, tracing patterns with my fingers. "Think about it, Kol's gone, the originals gone and Bonnie's alive and fine."
"I just can't, Ri." He repeated. I rolled my eyes and huffed. "There are things I need to do."
"Like what?"
"You wouldn't understand."
"Whatever." I muttered, dropping the subject.
"Don't go all moody on me, Ri." Kai said, I raised my eyebrows.
"How the hell am I being moody?" I snapped with a glare. Kai raised his eyebrows rolling his eyes, I scoffed.
"God, you can be such a bitch." I heard him mutter, I slapped his arm and he raised his eyebrows. "My point proven."
"Screw you." I said, rolling my eyes as I felt something on my cheek.
I through, realising it was a tear and wiped it away.
"Are you crying?" Kai asked, sitting up and looking at me. I rolled my eyes, shaking my head. He wiped under my eyes. "Then what's this?"
"Dunno, its like the water just oozing from my eyeballs. Like I'm some alien creature excreting fluids."
"Funny." He said, kissing my forehead. I smiled. "But seriously, what's the matter?" Kai wondered, his voice truly concerned.
I shrugged. "I have no clue, maybe my periods coming up." I said, then remembered who I was speaking too. Kai cringed.
"Gross." Kai said. I laughed a little as he kept cringing. "Now the image is stuck in my head."
I laughed. "Kai, it's natural. Calm down. Didn't you learn this stuff?"
He nodded. "I did, but it's not like I had conversations with my parents or anything. Abomination remember?"

"Right, sorry. My memory's pretty bad." I shrugged. He chuckled, kissing my forehead before my lips. I kissed back.
When the kiss ended, I smiled and he grinned. "You're so strange, Ri."
"I can say the same about you, Malachai." I replied, he laughed.
I bit my lip and rolled us over so I was laying on him. Kai raised a brow. "I like this."
I laughed at him. "Well, I was thinking that I do love this bed but...." I paused leaned down to kiss him. "It would be even cosier once it's been broken into."
Kai's eyes doubled in size. "This is why you're my girl, Ri." He said, his hand on the back of my neck to bring my lips over his.

"I need to feel you ride it." I sang out loud.
Kai laughed, drumming against the steering wheel. I smiled, while he drove while I sang. We were heading to the beach, it was the next morning.
I managed to get a car from someone. I stole the keys from their pocket and we were on our way. The car was a black Ferrari but I made Kai put the roof down to feel the wind in my hair.
We had been driving for around an hour and it was fun. I kept singing and annoying Kai. "Oh my god, I love this song." I said, turning up the radio more.
Kai laughed while the wind blown through the air. He was driving dangerously fast but I didn't care and the highway was practically empty. I loved it, my hair flying everywhere.
I felt a buzz in my pocket and turned down the music, to check my phone. "Damon." I told Kai, lifting my sunglasses up.
Kai shrugged. "Are you gonna answer?"
"I suppose, he must be missing me terribly." I joked and Kai laughed, speeding up while I answered my phone putting to my ear. "Damon, greetings."
"Riley, where are you?" He questioned, sounding worried and angry.
"I'm..." I glanced at Kai, the speaker covered by my hand. "Where are we?"
He shrugged as we drove.
"No where special, Kai and I are taking a small trip." I told Damon.
"Where exactly are you two going anyway?"
"We're finding a beach."
"God I need a beach day." Damon sighed down the phone.
"Doesn't the sun burn you?"
"Daylight ring." He reminded me. "What's the reason behind this trip?"
"We got bored of Mystic Falls. You know with the whole Caroline, Stefan thing. Plus with Kol gone, I can finally be free without constantly looking over my shoulder." I said, my head rested on Kai's shoulder.
He grinned and kissed my forehead, his hand ruffling my hair. I smiled and leaned up to kiss his lips.
"-Riley." I pulled back and sat back up straight. "Hello!"
"Sorry, what did you say Damon?" I asked and Kai laughed.
Damon scoffed. "I said if you were listening." I rolled my eyes. "Stay safe and watch Kai, he's dangerous."
"And so are spiders." I replied, hanging up and putting my phone back in my black jeans shorts matching my black bikini top. Obviously I made Kai stop to get us beach clothes before we left, though the only way to pay was by stealing.
Kai laughed. "Spiders aren't scary."
"Yeah, you're a sociopath. You don't feel fear." I said, Kai shrugged with defence and I smile.

"So what'd Damon say?" Kai asked, glancing to me. His eyes completely off the road. I raised my eyebrows, shaking my head.
"He said, put your eyes on the road." I laughed. Kai grinned, looking back at the road. "He said, be careful and that's about it."
"Interesting."
I hummed, flipping my sunglasses back down. "I know."

"Malachai, the whole reason I said to come here was to enjoy the beach. Not practise magic." I told Kai, resting my head back on my arms.
I was sunbathing, it was relaxing and comfortable. Me just laying on a towel. Kai, however, wanted to do more practising on magic.
He was so bored.
"One quick, practise." Kai said. I groaned and shook my head. My back was to the sun, I had undone my bikini top to avoid tan lines.
"No, Kai. Let me relax."
Kai let out a loud sigh and sat down next to me, shirtless in his shorts. He looked delicious. Kai tapped my butt. "Come on, Ri."
I shook my head. "No, Malachai. Let me rest." I lifted up my head. "And don't do that again."
"What this?" He slapped my butt that time and I jumped. "That's not what you said last night or this morning."
I didn't reply and showed him my middle finger. Kai laughed, his fingers trailing down my back. "Can I put suncream on you?"
I shrugged. "Alright, Malachai." As soon as I said that, I felt his hands on the bottoms of my bikini. I raised a brow. "Excuse me? Malachai what are you doing?"
"I need to get your back and this is covering it also part of your legs." Kai answered, innocently. I paused, but nodded.
"Fine." I said, laying down on my stomach again. Kai pulled down my bottoms slightly.
I closed my eyes with comfort as Kai applied the suncream to my back. It was actually relaxing. "You have soft skin, Ri."
"I know." I sighed in comfort. Kai laughed, moisturising my back and legs. "Your hands are very nice, Malachai."
Kai chuckled. "You've already told me that, Ri." He said and I scoffed, making him laugh even more.

"How you ever thought of having kids?" I asked Kai, glancing away from the small family playing in the sea.
He shook his head. "No, why would I have kids?"
I shrugged. "But wouldn't you?"
"If they were twins, I'd have to kill them."
I gasped, my jaw dropped and eyebrows raised. "Because of the merge?"
He nodded. "Exactly, which is why I don't want them." Kai poked my nose. I nodded, a little disappointed but I pushed it aside.
We were on the beach still, it was coming to dusk. It was a great day, I sunbathed. Kai got his hour of spell teaching, I had to give in for an hour because he kept begging and it was annoying.
Yet, it only resulted into a little fun in the back of the car though, but Kai cloaked the car so no one saw or heard us. It was Kai's fault, he kept kissing me, not that I was complaining or trying to stop him.
"Wait." I looked at Kai. "You want kids, don't you Ri?"
I shrugged, looking at my toes.
"Maybe." I shrugged. "Yeah, it'd be nice to have kids." I confessed. Kai groaned rolling his eyes and I glared.
"Kids are so boring and useless." Kai told me. I scoffed hearing laughter from the small family that I was watching.
It was a little boy around four with his older sister who looked ten, and their parents. They looked happy as if their life was perfect.
"No they're not, Malachai."
"Yes they are Riley." Kai said. I sensed the annoyance in his voice since he called me by my full name.
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever. I'm gonna go get something to eat."
Kai sighed as I stood, putting my sandals again. "And we're back to the bitchy mood." I heard Kai say.
I rolled my eyes. "Shut up." I spat, glaring as I picked up Zeke and walked away.
"Ri, seriously. Come on, Ri." Kai called as I walked away, blanking him out.
"Ri, come on." Kai wrapped his arms round me to pull my back against his chest. He snuggled his head in my neck and I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Let me go, Kai."
"What's wrong with you, Ri?"
"Nothing, I'm fine."
Kai rolled his eyes. "Don't play dumb with me, Ri. What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, Kai. Let's just go home alright."
Biting my lip, I ran and caught up with Kai. His face was blank and I sighed. "Kai." He hummed. "Come on." I repeated with a smile.
He looked at me, his face still blank. I frowned, suddenly getting weirdly upset and feeling my eyes water.
I thought.
"Are you crying?"
"It's your face." I wiped my tears. "It's so ugly, it makes me cry."
Kai gasped and I chuckled. I yelped when he slapped my butt, which made him grin. Kai kissed my cheek.
I just smiled back, an idea appearing as we pasted a store. "Wait, I wanna quickly get a drink." I lied.
"Fine." He said. I grinned and kissed his cheek before I went into the shop.
I didn't have any money but I did have a powerful witch for a boyfriend, vampires for friends so I was covered. Walking around, I swiped a bottle of water stuffing in Zeke with a bag of water balloons.
"Oi, you there!" The man at the till yelled at me, I raised my eyebrows and dropped an extra bag of water balloons.
"Yes?" I asked, acting casual as I walked around to the door.
"I saw you stealing. Hand it over."
"If I must." I gave in, sighing in defeat. I dug around in Zeke, acting to get something.
When I really flipped him off and bolted out the store, hearing him call after me. I bumped into Kai and he laughed catching me before I fell.
"Run!" I said, taking his hand and dragging him with me, through the crowd of people.
Kai caught up and looked at me when we made it in a deserted area on the beach. "What'd you do?"
"I may have burrowed a bottle of water, without paying." I shrugged, Kai laughed and I smiled.
"Wow, Ri. Who knew you could be so badass?"
"I try." I said, getting out my bottle and the water balloons but keeping them hidden.
Using the water from the bottle I filled up a yellow balloon. Carefully, doing up the bottle, I put it away and tied up the balloon.
Sucking in a deep breath, I threw it at Kai as he seem occupied on his phone. He jumped, from startle his gaze going to me.
I hit in on his arm, I giggled holding up my hands in defence. "What?"
Kai shook his head, not replying. We sat down on the sand and I discreetly filled up another. Standing I move back, throwing it and it hit his back. Kai didn't reply and I was getting scared with the silent treatment.
I took a step from him, he was still on his phone and I kick off my sandals setting them down.
Suddenly a cold essence hit my lower back, I gasped spinning round to Kai. He smirked, holding his own water balloons and water.
"What? How'd you...."
"Cloaking spell, I saw you so I got some of my own." Kai answered for me. I frowned and he grinned.
"Let me fill mine first." I said, he nodded but threw another at me. It hit my side and I gasped, my skin cold from the water.
"Now we're even." Kai said. I nodded in agreement.
We both filled up all of our balloons, we each had twenty left. I gulped, my balloons around my feet while I stood a few feet opposite Kai.
He smirked, a balloon in his hand. "Ready Ri?"
"Yeah, I'm ready to win."
"How about a bet?" Kai suggested. "If you win, I'll reconsider the whole kid thing but in many years later."
I was shocked but now determined to win. "Fair enough, and if you win?"
Kai winked. "That's for you to find out."

An Unwilling Monster
In the city of Kholakel, the highlight of the year for the upper classes is the annual monster pacification of the misty woods. Ostensibly it's a culling of the monster population to prevent them encroaching on urban areas, but it's an open secret that it's actually treated as more of a blood sport, the participants competing to score the most kills. After all, why else would the politicians and elites of the city bother to attend personally? Given the intense competition and high-tech weapons and gear in use, one might wonder how the forest has not yet been completely depopulated. As this year's culling approaches, a group of unfortunate children are about to discover the answer first-hand, but thanks to an unexpected twist of fate, one of them will score the chance to play the role of the hunter instead of the prey. This was an attempt at writing something darker than my usual fare. The story I actually ended up with isn't as mean to the MC as I'd originally planned out, to the point that I'm not sure the story deserves the horror/grimdark tags anymore, but this is still an unfair world with unambiguously evil antagonists. Chapters are short to start with, but get longer once the first act is over.

Path of Boundless Adventure
When Mana flooded back to Earth after billions of years, most felt lost in the new world. Some managed to adapt. For Michael, he felt like he'd finally found his path. Follow him as he fights monsters, explores new lands and most of all, seeks adventure. This is my first novel, never written anything before, so please be kind and patient with me, I'm doing my best. A more light-hearted post-apocalyptic novel with large amounts of game elements. MC has a unique advantage but is not massively overpowered and there's more of a focus on exploring and discovering new things rather than defeating a series of arch-nemesis' or building an empire.
