《Friends with the Football Team》33~ The End

"Now that the equation involves only a single function of a single angle, your next task is to solve for that function value. To do that, you want to solve-" Mr. Pittman was interrupted by the door being opened. It was Dad who opened the door. I looked curiously over at him and Mr. Pittman. They had a silent conversation.
"Coco, Will" Dad said, effectively getting our attention. "Bring your stuff" he said beckoning us with his pointer finger.
We looked at each other in confusion before packing up and heading out of the classroom. I gave Summer a confused look as I walked out with Will.
"Dad? Is everything okay?" I asked. My voiced was laced with worry.
"Karla just went into labor. Michael called to get Will out of school. Cora, you're staying here, but you don't have to go back to trig. I just wanted to tell you what was going on and it was easier to explain that I needed both of you. Class is almost over anyway. Will, I mean this in the nicest way possible but get the hell out of here." Dad smiled.
Will's face lit up with excitement but I could tell he was a little worried, especially after the scare last week. I gave him a hug and kissed his cheek. "It'll be fine. I'll come see you later. Text me updates"
"I will, love you" he kissed me quickly before running out of the doors and to his truck.
I looked at Dad excitedly and the bell rang. Students came pouring out of the classrooms. Dad walked off to go teach his history class but not before placing a kiss to my head.
"So what's up?" Summer asked as her and Darren held hands walking up to me.
"Karla went into labor, Will's going to the hospital"
"Yay that's so exciting" Summer said, excitement laced her voice.
"I know right" I squealed. " I have to get to Psych, see you at lunch" I waved them bye and went to Ms. Chan's psychology class.
I was constantly checking my phone for updates on Karla. Everything seemed to be doing okay right now. I haven't heard anything from Will since he told me he made it to the hospital. There's probably nothing to update me on anyway.
My phone dinged and I instantly grabbed it to look at the text.
Will texted me. I let out a breath of relief I didn't know I was holding. Everything is fine. The scare last week not only scared Will but it also scared me.
I walked to lunch with Remi and Lena. Summer was with her boyfriend today.
"Where's Will? I haven't seen him since second period. He missed fourth and fifth" Lena asked.
"Karla went into labor so he went to the hospital. He's supposed to call for an update any minute" I explained.
Speaking of the devil, my phone rang and Will's contact picture flashed across the screen. I smiled and answered the call.
"Hey babe" I said in a chipper voice.
"Hey snowflake"
"What's happening?"
"Nothing major. We're still just waiting, I'm about to grab lunch, do you want me to bring you something? I have to go pick up Kenz anyway. She had a test she couldn't skip."

I stopped in the middle of the hallway. The girls stopped and looked at me in confusion I motioned for them to continue without me. "Are you sure? You really don't have to."
"Yes, I'm bringing Kenz a shake from Riley's because she couldn't come earlier and I love you. Burger or Chili cheese fries?" He insisted.
"Burger, lettuce and tomatoes, no pickles, unless you want me to die"
I heard him chuckle on the other side of the phone. "Well there goes my plan for the day" he joked. "Okay, I'm pulling into Riley's. I'll be there soon. Love you"
"Love you too" I said with a smile and he hung up the phone.
I walked into the cafeteria and instead of going to the lunch line, like I normally do, I went to the table with everyone else.
My brothers looked at me with confusion written across their faces. They never liked when I skipped a meal, intentionally or not. I sat down next to Remi in my normal spot.
"Why aren't you going to get food?" Carter interrogated.
"Calm down Will's bringing me lunch when he picks up Kenz in a couple minutes." They looked at me still confused.
"Karla went into labor this morning and he's been at the hospital. Kenzie had a test that she couldn't skip so he's picking her up now and bringing me lunch." I explained for what felt like the thirtieth time today.
They all nodded in understanding and burst with excitement about baby Erickson coming soon. I, for one, am excited to hold a baby. They're just so precious.
"Here you go babe" Wills voice said from behind me and plopped a Riley's to-go bag in front of me along with a drink.
"Thanks Will" I reached up and kissed his cheek.
"I have to go but I'll see you later, okay?" He said and hugged me.
"Bye love you"
"Love you more" he kissed my cheek and left us again.
"What are we chopped liver?" Nick joked as Will walked away.
We all laughed with him. Conversation fell easily over the table. I dug into my burger that Will had just brought me. I checked for pickles before I took a bite. Ever since the allergic reaction I had when I first got here, I made sure to look at every burger I ate for pickles.
After lunch, Remi, Nick, Sam, and I walked to AP US History taught by none other than my father.
"Hey Dad" I hugged him and he kissed my cheek before I sat in my normal seat.
"Hey, Mr. B" Remi said and hugged him as well before taking her seat next to me.
The boys just waved at him as they took their seats behind us. Dad took roll and started on today's lesson about the Civil War.
His class went by fast and before I knew it the class was over and it was time to go to English class with Mrs. Atkins. If I haven't mentioned it before, she hates me. In my defense, she shouldn't have been all teacherly during the summer. Just because you don't have a life, doesn't mean your students don't too.
"Good afternoon, Mrs. Atkins" I tried to suck up to her.

"Hello, Miss Barnes" her voice monotone.
Remi giggled next to me. "Why do you even keep trying? She's not going to warm up to you, if you annoy the shit out of her."
I groaned and hit my head on my desk in front of me. "I don't even know" I answered honestly.
My phone dinged. I looked to see Will texting me.
I laughed and texted him back assuring him that it'll all be okay. I couldn't contain my excitement. I'm so excited for their family and Will's going to be such a great big brother. Kenzie is going to be a good big sister.
I quickly texted Dad and the boys to update them, in case no one else did.
"Miss Barnes, is there something on your phone more important than my lesson?" Mrs. Atkins' authoritative voice called out from the front of the room.
I quickly snapped my phone down. "No ma'am, I just had a family thing, but I'm done with that now" I answered with a weak smile.
It took all she could not to roll her eyes at me and she continued her lesson, that I had missed at least the first five minutes of.
I looked over a Remi which I shouldn't have because we almost burst into laughter in the middle of class. I tried my hardest not to look at Remi for the rest of class. Thankfully next period is study hall and I wouldn't have a teacher on my ass about my phone being out.
The rest of the day went by pretty quickly and the boys had practice after school. I had to watch and do homework since Remi had to go home right away and there wasn't cheer practice or anything today.
My phone rang and I saw that Will was face timing me. I answered instantly.
"Hey babe" I said.
"Hey" He whispered. He was dark but I could still see the smile on his face. "Mom and the baby are sleeping right now" He said as he walked across the hospital room.
He flipped the camera to face the little baby in the bassinet. He was so small and precious.
"Oh my gosh" I covered my mouth with a gasp. "He's so precious" I awed at him. It's amazing how tiny he is.
"Cora, this is Ryan. Ryan this is Cora, she's my girlfriend" he whispered to the baby.
"Ryan?" I asked Will as he turned the camera back to him.
Will nodded.
"I can't wait to see him in person." I gushed. "He's just so darn precious."
"I can't wait either. Well I've got to go, but I love you and I'll see you tomorrow" He blew me a kiss.
"I love you too, Will." I giggled and bit my lip to stop so I could properly say bye.
He groaned and threw his head back. "Great now I want to kiss you. How could you do this to me?" He teased.
"I'm sorry. I just wanted to say goodbye to you properly, excuse me for wanting to be a good girlfriend" I laughed.
"Okay well then I promise tomorrow I will kiss the shit out of you when I see you and I won't care who sees"
I laughed at his dorkiness.
"Goodbye snowflake." He covered his eyes with his hand playfully.
I laughed and blew him a kiss. "Bye babe, I'll see you tomorrow"
We hung up, by now practice was pretty much over and they were all talking about the game tomorrow and how they're going to prepare. I know Will is probably going to be here because he wouldn't miss a game for the world, but that would mean his family would miss the second game in a row.
***
It was Saturday before we could go over to the Erickson's to see Ryan for the first time. We knocked on the door and Will answered. I immediately wrapped my arms around his torso. He chuckled and hugged me back.
"Hello to you too, snowflake" He chuckled. "Y'all come on in Ryan just woke up. He's in the living room with everyone else" The boys all went to the living room but I stayed attached to Will.
"Kiss me" I whispered.
"I'm hurt you even had to tell me" He joked and leaned down to give me a kiss. We pulled a part a couple of seconds later.
We wrapped our hands around each other and went into the living room. Dad was talking to Micheal, the boys were surrounding the baby that Karla was holding, and Poppy was sitting to the side.
"Hi Poppy, I didn't know you were here" I greeted her with a hug.
"Hi darling. I see you listened to my advice, huh?" She winked at me. She referred to the time I met her and she told me to date Will. It's crazy to think that just a couple months ago I thought that Will and I were just friends. Evidently, everyone knew but us.
I couldn't help but chuckle at her. "Of course, thank you Poppy" I smiled from ear to ear.
I turned to the boys and Karla. "Okay, I think it's my turn now" I said with a grin. I couldn't help it I wanted to hold the baby so bad.
Karla handed him off to me gently and I made sure that I held him correctly. My heart exploded the second I had him in my arms. I slowly sat with him.
"Oh my goodness, Isn't he just the most precious thing in the world?" I cooed. I felt the couch dip next to me and looked to see Will next to me. He laid his chin on my shoulder and leaned my head against his. "Just look at him. I could hold him all day long."
"I can't wait for this one day. You know, have kids and start a family? I hope it'll be with you Cora. I want to spend the rest of my life with you." he whispered in my ear and kissed my cheek.
I froze for a second, He wants to have a family with me? We're only seventeen and he's already thinking of our future together. We've only been dating a month, but I know there's a part of me that wants that too.
"I love you Cora Maeve Barnes"
"I love you to William Orion Erickson" I whispered to him and pressed a kiss to his cheek. I laid my head back against his and smiled at the little baby in my arms.
