《Water and Ice | Shoto Todoroki》Chapter 68-Finally

"Hey y/n." Todoroki greeted as he turned to face me.
"Hey." I responded, stepping forward.
"There's something I need to talk to you about." He hesitated before speaking again.
"And that would be...?" I really hoped it wasn't something negative about what happened before.
He walked closer to me, and let another moment pass in silence before speaking again.
"Y/n...even from the first time I saw you, I knew there was something different about you. The way you talked, the way you acted. Somehow it drew me in. I've tried suppressing this feeling, thinking it would be better for both of us, but I just can't any longer. After everything we've been through, all the danger and challenges we've faced, it became harder to hide and hold in. It made me realize just how afraid I am to lose you, and that's why I just can't wait any longer. So what I'm trying to say is...Y/n, will you be mine? I don't want this to be temporary either, I've felt this for too long for this to just be a passing relationship." He poured all his feeling out to me.
I sucked in a breath out of surprise.
Was it finally happening? It seemed so surreal. I took a moment to process it before realizing he was waiting for a response.
"Yes." I answered, happiness evident in my voice.
He smiled and so did I. I closed the gap between us and hugged him. After a few moments I pulled away again, and looked at him.
"You know, you still kind of look like a candy cane to me." I said jokingly.
He laughed. I took his hand in mine and looked him in the eyes.
"I'm glad this is happening." I said.

"Me too." He responded.
"Ok well...I guess we should head back now? Us both disappearing for too long would seem a little suspicious." I spoke after a few seconds, breaking eye contact.
He nodded and we began to walk back to the campsite, our hands still intertwined. We reached the tent area and he finally let go.
"I love you y/n." He said quietly.
"I love you too." I responded, laughing a little bit.
He kissed my forehead before walking off toward his tent. I couldn't help but smile as I walked back to my own tent. I unzipped the entrance and stepped in, zipping it back up behind me. It was dead quiet, like the calm before a storm.
"WHERE WERE YOU?!" Ura broke the silence.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Mina exclaimed.
They both began talking at once.
"Todoroki and I are dating now." I blurted out.
They both gasped in unison.
"You guys are dating?! Finally!" Ura squealed cheerfully.
"Mission accomplished!" Mina announced.
"I'm so happy for you guys! I'm sure you'll make a really great couple." Jiro said.
"So does this mean no more setups?" I asked.
"Well, since you're together now, I guess not!" Ura shrugged.
"Good. I'm not sure how many more of your plans I can take." I sighed.
Ura just rolled her eyes.
We continued talking and finding other things to do in our tent for the rest of the night. It was really fun, and took away all the other thoughts racing through my head.
I was glad I had friends like this, who could help me just forget about everything else and have fun.

Nowhere Stars
For as long as anyone can remember, humans have been preyed upon by Harbingers, living nightmares which devour dreams and passions and souls, and defended by Keepers. These children alone hold the gift of magic, the wild and wondrous ability to impose emotions over reality and empower their frail bodies with the splendor of their souls. Under their protection, humanity was able to survive and thrive. While modern Keepers have come to enjoy a social position somewhere between celebrities and religious idols, very few accept the mantle simply to be a hero. The Messengers of the Goddess Claiasya, spirits charged with awakening the magic in suitable souls, promise that Keepers who consume and purify enough Harbingers will obtain the power to change themselves or the world in nearly any way they wish. It’s for this purpose that Liadain Shiel, a young girl born terminally ill, throws herself into life as a Keeper when her opportunity comes, hoping against hope to rewrite her fate and save her life while she still can. But magic wants its wielders to grow and change, not simply continue living, and the secrets swimming beneath the sea and behind the sky have lives and designs of their own. Nowhere Stars is an ongoing fantasy-horror web novel about traumacore magical girls, nightmares clothed in ribbons and lace, alienation from reality, and broken children twisting the world into whatever shape they must to make their dreams come true. This is a mirror of Nowhere Stars' home site, located here. Updates will be posted at the same time, currently once a week on Wednesdays. Support Nowhere Stars on Top Web Fiction here!

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
