"Kira can you help me up please?"
"Of course baby."
Kira's strong muscled arm wraps around my back, gently lifting me out the hospital bed. Yes we're still here. I've been getting several tests and examinations done to ensure I'm completely fine before being discharged.
"Thank you. I can't wait to be able to pee on my own."
"It'll happen soon, don't worry."
Kira helps me to the bathroom. Being careful and cautious as he supports me to the toilet. Its in the afternoon the day after I gave birth. I don't know if it's because I was carrying 2 babbies, but my lower half aches like they're still in there. Its been hard for me to stand for long on my own. After awhile I get extremely dizzy.
I woke from napping just now feeling like my bladder is trying to strangle me. You'd think because I gave birth, my bladder would go back to normal but as with everything else, it takes time. I breathe out through my mouth as I bare with the pain in my vagina.
Back to my earlier thoughts about the tests I've been getting done. While I was pregnant apart from looking up what to expect when expecting, when I was too big to do anything, I came across an extensive amount of research and statistics on the rate of deaths for African American woman during and after child birth, stemming from negligence and racism.
So much so I sat Kira down to talk, about a month or so before I was full term. We talked about the alarming rate of pregnancy deaths for black women in this country, making ourselves knowledgeable in order to prevent the possibility. He was scared and fearful from the information I shared with him. Worried something would go wrong so we decided together to bring it up with doctor Johnson.
Even though she's a person of color herself, I in particular felt we needed to speak with her as she's our medical professional, about our fears and worries. Just in case after we'd want to switch to another doctor. Thankfully that conversation went well so we kept her and I thrilled we had that talk with her.
It definitely tooks some of our nerves away.
Child birth is already scary enough without having the added fear you might die because of the color of your skin. Who knows it might have saved my life. It's a serious thing. Substantially, its more likely for an African American woman to die during labor than a Caucasian woman, which is why I'm still in this hospital the day after. Normally I believe they let you go home the next day.
Kira and I knew we won't leave until all my tests come back clean.
"Detka careful sitting down." He urges.
Kira's serious tone brought me out my thinking. I focus holding onto the rail near the toilet as he assists me to sit down. Usually I'd squat over a public toilet but with how difficult it is, and the pain I'm feeling screw that. Hospital toilets are probably the most sanitary ones with all the sterilizing they do in here.
I start peeing not giving a shit he's staring at me. We're past that point now. Kira watches with a twinkle in his eyes.

"You're the best. Without you I don't know what I'd do." I tell him.
"I know." He continues saying, "I can't wait for Julian and Peter to come. Mom and dad are probably going to come again today. Kasia might too since she missed visiting hours yesterday."
I wipe myself. Thankfully I can do that at least. But I'm sure if I couldn't Kira would be happy to help. My husband to be loves me like that. Wow. Husband. It's crazy even thinking it. Crazy, now I'm a mother of two and real soon also a wife.
"I'm happy our kids have two sets of grandparents. We're going to need all the help we can get from them and their aunties."
Kira agrees nodding to this.
I really wished I had siblings of my own.
So our children could have more uncles and aunts. But it's okay. They have a large village around them already. Especially with my cousins who live in Jamaica, and there's Javon and Chris too.

"Knock. Knock."
Calls out doctor Johnson on the other side of the door.
"Come in." Kira answers before I can.
He's sitting holding Kai while Kiren sleeps, taking a nap. Vicktor and Lada went down to the cafeteria to grab some food for me and Kira. They arrived minutes after Kira helped me back to bed. Those too are the sweetest. Lada is already obsessed with Kiren and Kai. She's going to spoil them. I can already see it.
"How are you feeling today Eureka?"
Doctor Johnson questions coming beside my bed. She looks at my machines which I'm no longer connected to since I don't need them anymore. She looks through my chart as well.
"I'm feeling good. Tired but good."
"Alright. Well I just came to let you know your tests have been looking excellent. Your blood test was good as well as the the other scans we took earlier. If this keeps up, look forward to going home tomorrow morning."
"Yeah, that's great. Is it normal, if I still bleed when I use the bathroom?"
Doctor Johnson answers confidently. "Yes vaginal bleeding is normal after child birth. It will stop after awhile don't worry. But if it persists for more than a month please come back."
Kira looks up from Kai's smiling face to stare at mine. He looks thankful to hear I'm okay. He was worried when we noticed I'm still bleeding.
"Okay I will. Thank you so much doctor Johnson. You've been wonderful throughout this experience. I'm thankful you were my doctor from the start."
"No problem. Did a nurse come in and brief you both on safe sleep, etcetera?"
"Yes." Kira says.
I nod as well. Doctor Johnson checked on the boys making sure they're both okay before leaving the room. I go back to texting my best friend. He's excited to come in a few weeks, so he and Chris can see Kiren and Kai. I text goodbye after letting him know I can't wait to see them too.
"I'm starving Detka. Aren't you? I think mom and dad might have gotten lost."
"Maybe. They've been gone awhile now. Why don't you call them. Hand Kai to me."

He stands, carefully doing so.
"Mommy's going to hold you." Kira says to Kai in a high voice as he puts him in my arms. Kai turns his eye to me. I make sure to support his neck as I hold him. He's so beautiful and looks so precious while smiling up at me. There's some drool leaving the corner of his mouth. I wipe it away with his swaddle.
His little face is round with brown dusting of eyebrows and already thick eyelashes. His hair is thick and brown like Kira's. Both him and Kiren have a full head of brown hair. I make smiley faces at him so he'll smile more. Kai does blinking at me with open pink lips.
I turn to Kira. Hearing as he asks one of his parents.
"Do you need me to come?"
After nodding. "Okay. Eureka and I thought you guys got lost."
He turns. Probably feeling my stare on him. He smirks and winks at me. My body reacts immediately.
"Oh okay. See you soon." Kira tells them before the call ends. He pockets his phone and comes over to the bed. Holding my face up at him.
"You're so beautiful, you know that."
Huh. Where did that come from? I literally haven't even washed my face yet. After Lada and Vicktor leave I'm going to do that and shower.
"Yeah. Even without showering yet this morning."
Kira helped me take a bath last night when I woke up at 3am feeling sticky.
"Always baby." He groans.
The door opens. Kira kisses my forehead. We see Lada and Viktor with bags of food.
"We didn't know what to get you Eureka. Hope everything is to your liking." Lada explains.
I smile. "Thank you. I'll eat anything at this point." I say.
Lada comes in and Vicktor closes the door behind them. They're the most sweetest loving married couple. There love for each is always apparent. Even in the small things like Viktor always getting and closing the door for Lada.
Kira takes Kai and lays him down as he fell a sleep. He comes over bringing the eating table and helps his parents take out the food they bought. There is a large fruit basket with pineapples, grapes, honey dew melon, watermelon and strawberries in it. Two hearty looking salads which have chicken but I'll eat around them and some other stuff.
"This is perfect. Thanks guys. We're starving." I let them know.
Viktor shakes his head. Like he's remembering when they had Katina. "I remember when we had Kira and Kasia. We could barely find time to eat. You remember?" He asks Lada.
I was close.
He takes her hand and they go over to the boy's cots to watch them sleep. Immediately I hear several oohs and aahs, from them. Lada says to her husband. "Aren't they the cutest. They looks so a like."
Viktor nods. "We're diffently going to struggle telling them apart later." He jokes.
"Detka. Here you go baby."
He places me the salad bowl in front me. I look down not seeing any chicken. Peering up at him. He has that looks on his face. The one which is all smiles because he's proud of himself since he knows he's done something that makes my heart grow.
"I took out all the chicken. I'll eat them in mine"
"Thank you." He knows I don't eat meat and he didn't have to do, but the gesture is appreciated. "I love you." I say.
He sits and begins eating. After swallowing the first bite says. "I love you, very much Detka."
We continue eating together looking lovingly at each other while Lada and Vicktor watch our children.
>>>>
"I'm finished packing up."
"Are you sure you don't need help?"
I ask Kira. He zips up the two duffle bags, going to extra large baby bag filled with all the things Kiren and Kai may need. He leaves it open because we'll need to go in it again.
"No I'm good Detka. You rest."
It's night time now. We've both showered. Gotten dressed to spend our last night in the hospital. Johnson let us know earlier eveything is good, so we're going home tomorrow morning. Kira comes over and scoots onto the bed. We barely fit together since he's so big but we make it work.
Throughout the night he'll basically sleep with me laying on top of him pudgy stomach and all. My belly is still big. But not as big as when the boys were inside me.
I can't wait to be able to work out, so I can lose the extra fat, but for now it's okay, it's natural. Social media makes it seem like after you give birth you immediately shrink back to your previous size. That's not always the case. At least not for me and that's okay.
This body worked. It carried two beautiful babies for 8 and a half months.
"Detka. When do you think you'll take out your braids?"
I peer up at him, making out his eyes in the dim room. He likes the braids but he misses my natural hair. I hold his face kissing him softly. We haven't kissed like this in a while. Two newborns take up alot of time. His warm mouth opens, as my tongue probes it. His caress my bottom lips.
Hmm. I missed this. Kira begins bitting my lip as I hold his face going up to his hair. His hands reaching my ass, squeezing me deliciously. Which makes my already bruised vagina tingle.
I pull away licking my lips tasting his taste, that I missed.
"Soon. I need to wear them for at least another week so I can get my money's worth. Mom will take them out for me."
"Good. Now come here. I'm not done with you yet."
His large hand grips my neck from behind bring our lips together again for another deep, sensual, kiss, I can't help but feel it all the way down to my core. Kira literally fucks my mouth with his tongue, exploring every part of me until he's marked every crevice.
This goes on until one of our babies start crying.
