I got up, and got ready for my first day of work at Havens Enterprise, which was a computer software company. I put on a short, tight, cerulean blue dress with flower print and put on cheetah print high heels. I decided I would wear my long blonde hair down.
I was psyched about my new job, and went downstairs so I could catch a taxi. The building was about ten minutes away via car.
I got there, and went inside the building. I went into the boss's office.
"Hey, Vince," I said to him, grinning.
My boss was really handsome. He had olive-colored skin, brown hair, and had strong facial features. Of course, he was also wearing a navy blue and white suit, and had on a navy blue tie. His face usually looked stern, which made him look even more attractive actually.
"That's Mr. Havens to you. Also, you should knock first. I could have been in the middle of a meeting or something important," Mr. Havens said sternly.
"I'm so sorry-"
"Since this is your first day here, you will be trained by Mr. Sanjay Kapoor. He will teach you what to do with different types of files. You will also run errands for me, but that will be later on."
"Oh okay, awesome."
Mr. Havens got on the phone. "Hello, Mr. Kapoor? I need you to come here in my office. You will train Ms. Anastasia Marks, since this is her first day." He put the phone down, and did work on his computer.
A few minutes later, Mr. Kapoor walked in. "Hello, Ms. Anastasia Marks," he said, shaking my hand. "I will show you around the office where everything is, and how to do things. Come with me, please." He smiled. He looked to be in his mid-30's, and was of Indian descent. He also had a somewhat thick accent. He was wearing a black and white suit, and had on a black tie.
"Hello, Mr. Kapoor, it's nice to meet you," I said cheerfully.
"Oh, you can call me Sanjay."
"Oh? And, please call me Stacey. I don't really like being called by my actual name." I laughed.
"Deal." He grinned.
He introduced me to the different co-workers. Harper Foster, a blonde-haired young woman who talked so fast that I barely could understand her, Dante Jones, who was very cheerful and funny, and there were other ones that I forgot their names already, mainly because they were bland and a bit unfriendly.

He showed me the different rooms, and where certain files and papers go.
"Okay, well, I'm done showing you the different things," Sanjay said.
"Cool. So, what do I do now?" I asked.
"We're supposed to be having a meeting in the conference room in a few minutes. Just stick with me for now."
My first meeting I will get to attend!
A few minutes later, we walked into the conference room and sat down.
Mr. Havens stood in front with a presentation, and was explaining, and talking about it. A few minutes into the presentation, someone called me, and my ringtone was "I Get Crazy" by Nicki Minaj. Everyone in the room looked in my direction, and some glared. Mr. Havens crossed his arms, looking annoyed. I shuffled through my bag, trying to find my phone, feeling my cheeks turn red. By the time I found it, the phone already stopped ringing. I put it on silent anyways.
Dante burst out laughing. "Oh, you're going to get it from Vince," he whispered. "But that jam though."
"I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed, wincing at myself.
Mr. Havens stared at me for a few more seconds and said, "Is your cell phone now on silent, Anastasia?"
"Yes, sir." I nodded.
"Good. Now, as I was saying..." He went on and kept explaining his presentation.
A few seconds later, my text ringtone kept going off yelling "Pikachu!" over and over again. Yet again, my face turned red. I got my phone back out, and turned it off. I heard Dante snicker in the distance.
Mr. Havens took a deep breath, sighing. "I thought you said your phone was on silent." He crossed his arms.
"Well, it was, but I have so many different notifications that I forget which ones are on or off. This phone is so stupid, ugh. I just turned it off. I am so sorry, Mr. Havens," I explained shamefully.
He went on for another twenty minutes and then he said, "Okay this meeting is over. Anastasia, come see me in my office."
I gulped and followed behind him as we walked into his office.
"Please, close the door," he said. I did as I was told. "I don't know if Mr. Kapoor went over the rules with you, but I will explain it to you again. Put your phone on silent, or vibrate when you are in this building. Your dress or skirt should not be above your knees or skin-tight, and no personal phone calls unless it's an absolute emergency."

"Again, I apologize for the interruptions at the meeting-" I also felt ashamed of my dress, which was a few inches above my knee, and also tight.
"I need you to run an errand for me. Since it is about lunchtime, I would like you to go to Mario's, and get me fettuccine chicken alfredo with water." He gave me twenty dollars.
"Oh okay, right on it, sir!" I grinned, and walked out, hoping that this will make things better.
I went to Mario's, and got Mr. Havens' lunch. I also got lunch for myself, but with my own money of course.
After I got the food, I came back, and gave Mr. Havens his lunch. "Here you go," I said, smiling.
He took out his lunch. "So where's the salad?" He furrowed his eyebrows.
"The what?" My eyes widened.
"The salad." He gave me a stern look.
"You didn't tell me to get any salad." I gave him a confused look.
"I texted it to you." He crossed his arms, frowning.
With my shaky hands, I got my phone out. "Oh, no wonder. It was off from earlier." I turned it back on, and saw the message.
All he did was give me a look.
"I guess I'll go back, and get your salad," I said lamely.
"Good choice." He gave a stern nod, eating as he went back to work.
I sighed as I went all the way back to get his salad. I came back, and gave it to him.
"Thank you," he said, taking the salad from me.
"Anything else for me to do?"
"Not at the moment. Go back to Mr. Kapoor, and he will guide you to your desk. You can get started with the files and phone calls." He took a bite of his salad.
"Oh okay." I took my lunch, and walked out to find Sanjay. I looked around the place, asking different people if they saw him. They and I haven't seen him anywhere.
I went up to Dante. "Hey, have you seen Sanjay?" I asked him.
"He's out for lunch. He should be back in a few," he replied, turning away from the computer. "So what did Vincent do? Was he pissed?" I could tell he was trying not to laugh.
"No. He just went over the rules, and told me to get his lunch for him." I smiled.
"Ooh." He winced.
"What do you mean 'ooh?'" I gave him a worried look.
"Whenever he tells people to get him lunch, that's usually not a good sign." He had a straight face.
"How?" My mouth dropped open.
"He's making you do more work to punish you. He never tells us to go fetch him food. Every once in a while, he'll tell one of us to go to a different building to drop off some papers, or something."
"I think you're just being paranoid." I laughed nervously, hoping that was true.
"Okay, whatever you say." He shrugged.
Sanjay came back a few minutes later, and showed me my work space.
"My own desk," I said giddily, grinning as I sat down. I spun around in my rolley chair.
"It ain't nothing special until you get your own office," Dante said as he passed by, and sat at his desk.
I rolled my eyes. "Why are you so pessimistic?"
"I'm not. I just tell things how they are." He faced his desk, and made a phone call.
I sighed and did some files, and made phone calls until it was time to go.
---
"So tell me, how did it go?" Chelsea Hendricks, my redheaded best friend, said excitedly as we met outside the Havens Enterprise building after I got off of work.
"Um, well, when you called, and kept texting me earlier, my phone went off during the meeting twice, and I kind of got in trouble," I explained with a frown.
Chelsea gasped. "Really? I'm so sorry, I wasn't thinking." She winced.
"It's fine." I sighed. "I really didn't want that to happen on my first day."
"Aw, I'm sure the other days will be just fine. You were probably nervous."
"Yeah, I guess so." I shrugged.
"So, any hot classy business men?" She nudged her, wiggling her eyebrows.
"Well, my boss is." I grinned.
Chelsea gasped again. "Really? Wow, I need to stop by."
"Yeah, you should!"
Just then, Chelsea's phone buzzed. "Hey, I got to get going, but I'll see you later!" She waved.
"Okay, bye!" I waved back, watching her go. I also decided to go home.
