On the following Monday morning, I went into work and sat at my desk, taking phone calls, and filing papers.
An hour later, I saw Jesenia walk into the office.
"Hey, Stace," Jesenia said and grinned at me.
"Hey, Jesenia," I said, trying to force a smile. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, I'm here to see Vince. I'll see you later." She went into Mr. Havens' office.
I frowned and, out of frustration, I typed louder than usual on my computer.
"Is everything okay, Stacey?" Dante asked, looking unsure.
"Yeah, everything's fine," I replied. I paused for a moment and then got up from my chair and leaned against Mr. Havens' door so I could listen to what him and Jesenia were saying.
"I'll take you out to dinner," I heard Mr. Havens say to Jesenia.
"Okay, that sounds good!" I heard Jesenia exclaim.
I rolled my eyes and scoffed to myself.
"I'll pick you up around six, and we will go to Le Bernardin."
My mouth dropped open. Le Bernardin was an expensive French seafood restaurant.
I heard footsteps walking to the door and I quickly ran back to my desk.
Dante looked confused. "What on Earth are you up to now?" he asked.
"Oh...um...nothing," I said, looking flustered.
"Sure." He gave me an amused look and then turned away.
Jesenia walked out of the office and went back to me. "Hey, I'll see you around," she grinned. "I have to go though, I have a photoshoot in a few hours. Bye!" She blew kisses.
"Hey, nice seeing you," I said, rather flatly. "Have fun with your photoshoot!" I blew kisses back.
During lunchbreak, I decided to go to Chipotle and get a burrito with nachos. Who cares, I'm going to eat all this food, Jesenia has Mr. Havens anyways. I angrily took a big bite out of my burrito.
"Stacey?" Dave said as he went up to me. "We keep bumping into each other." He smiled.
"Oh...hey Dave," I said, after swallowing my food. "Yeah, we do I guess." I smiled back.
"Mind if I sit down with you?" He scratched his head nervously.
"No not at all. Please sit." I motioned him to sit across from me.
He sat down and we ate our food together. "So...uh...I had a nice time at the party with you..." He sounded nervous.

"Yeah, I did too." I grinned.
"Yeah...so...I was wondering if I could take you out to dinner tonight..." He paused for a moment. "...And you can choose the restaurant. It can be any kind and any type. I don't care if it's expensive or not."
Well technically he didn't say it was a date, plus I get to choose the restaurant and since it will be tonight, then I can say Le Bernardin since that's where Jesenia and Mr. Havens are going to tonight. Perfect, now I'll be able to spy on them! "That sounds nice Dave. I would like to," I said and smiled. "The restaurant I choose is...Le Bernardin."
Dave's eyes widened as he raised an eyebrow. "That sounds great!" he exclaimed and smiled. "I'm surprised you want to go there. I thought you would choose a pizza place or something like that but yeah that'll be awesome. I'll pick you up around 6 and then we'll go there."
"I've heard of that place and always wanted to try it I guess. It sounds good."
"It is a very good place. I've ate there a few times. I think you'll like it very much." He looked at his watch. "Well, my break time is up. I need to head back to my building. I'll see you tonight." He grinned, waved, and left.
I went back to work and answered phone calls and filed for the rest of the work day. I texted Chelsea:

After that, I put my phone away and left work. I quickly went to my apartment, and got ready to go to Le Bernardin. I put on a short light orange dress, white sweater, gold bracelet, and neutral colored wedges.
A few minutes later, I heard the doorbell ring. I walked out my room, and opened the door, "Hey Dave!" I greeted him. "I'll get my purse, and then we can leave."
Dave looked around the room. When I got back, he said as he smiled, "This place hasn't changed much...in a good way of course."
"Yeah, it's been a while since you've come here," I said. "Well, I'm ready to go if you are."
He nodded, and we went in his car and drove to Le Bernardin. We walked in, and while getting seated, I looked around for Mr. Havens, and saw him sitting at a table with Jesenia. They were talking, and laughing. I frowned, and then Dave and I sat at a table across the room from them.

We looked at the menu. I didn't know what most items on the menu were, so I decided to ask Dave, "What is calamari? I've heard of it, but I don't know what that is..."
"It's squid," Dave replied.
I made a disgusted face. "Um...okay...definitely not getting that..." I kept flipping through the menu while Dave chuckled.
"You would probably like the Seafood Truffle Pasta. That's what I get when I come here. It's one of my favorites." He suggested.
"Oh okay, I'll get that then." I smiled, and quickly glanced at Mr. Havens and Jesenia.
Jesenia looked in our direction and exclaimed, "Stacey, is that you?" She grinned, and waved.
I winced because I didn't really want to be noticed by them. I looked at them again, and noticed Mr. Havens looking at me with a raised eyebrow. "Hey, Jesenia!" I waved back and faked a grin.
"Oh, I didn't even notice Mr. Havens over there," Dave said.
"Hey, you two can sit here with us!" Jesenia exclaimed and motioned us to join.
"Well, I guess we can sit over there," Dave said and smiled.
We got up, and sat at the table with them. "Funny seeing you here, Anastasia," Mr. Havens remarked. "I didn't know you were the type to eat at these kinds of places."
"What a coincidence seeing you two here!" I said, faking a grin. I turned to Mr. Havens. "Dave took me out for dinner, and I got to choose the place. I thought why not eat here since I heard from others that it was a great place."
Jesenia gasped. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I didn't realize you two were on a date. I deeply apologize." She winced.
I pretended to look at the menu a little more.
"So Mr. Havens," Dave started to say, "How have you been in the past few days?"
"I've been well, Mr. McKinley," Mr. Havens replied. The guys started talking amongst themselves.
Jesenia leaned toward me, whispering, "Isn't that Dave, your ex-boyfriend? Are you back together with him?" She gave me a surprised look.
My mouth dropped. "Oh no! We're just having dinner..." I quietly replied and looked down.
She gave me a look. "You two are at an expensive restaurant like this, and you say you're just friends? I don't think so. By the way, Dave looks really good." She grinned.
"We're just friends, I assure you that. What about you and Mr. Havens?" I had an annoyed edge to my voice, which I didn't mean to do.
"What about Vince and I?" She looked confused.
"You two are dating right?"
Jesenia burst out laughing and Mr. Havens overheard the last part and also burst out laughing too. "Oh no, Vince and I are cousins!" she exclaimed and covered her mouth.
My eyes widened and my mouth dropped. I felt my face turn fiery red. "Oh...um...I did not know that..."
"I haven't seen him in so long, so we decided to catch up at your party, and now out to dinner..." She kept laughing.
Mr. Havens looked slightly amused. "You think we look like a couple, Anastasia?" He said.
"I don't know...that's what I assumed..." I replied weakly.
Dave scratched his head, feeling awkward himself. "So, what did you two order?" he asked, changing the subject.
"I'm getting caviar," Jesenia said.
"And I'm having lobster," Mr. Havens said. "What about you two?"
"We're both getting Seafood Truffle Pastas," I said, just as the waiter gave all of us our food.
"I missed the caviar here," Jesenia said, after taking a bite. "This is one of my favorite restaurants."
I took a bite of my food. "Wow, this is great!" I exclaimed.
"I knew you would like it," Dave said and grinned.
I grinned back at him. Mr. Havens noticed, and almost scowled.
"You okay, Vince?" Jesenia asked him, looking concerned.
Mr. Havens cleared his throat. "Yes I'm fine, thank you," he said, softening his face.
I smiled to myself. He's totally getting jealous.
After we were done eating, we paid, and went outside.
"Well, this evening was great," Jesenia said and smiled. "I'll see you later, Vince and Stacey. It was nice seeing you again, Dave! I've got to head back home, bye!" She waved at us, and left.
Mr. Havens turned towards me and Dave. "I should get going too. I'll see you two later," he said, and left.
"Bye, Mr. Havens!" I grinned, calling out after him.
"Today was very nice," Dave said, smiling at me while walking back to his car. "Should we do this again sometime?"
"Yes, we definitely should. The food was great!" I grinned and got in the car.
We left, and I got dropped off back home.
