《Azurlane: Future Prosperity》Chapter 3: Rebelious Bell

"Where did everything go wrong..."
Those harrowing words were not a question, a refined and decorated woman of the Royal navy looked on with a dull gaze at the broken pieces on the floor.
Remnants of the past now lay in pieces, the person remembers when she used it together with the people she called as comrades. But now that memories are shattered by someone who should've exceeded her past self.
Standing in the middle of Broken mementos were somebody who looked similar to the person albeit a bit young and brash.
This two share the same name, but served in different era's. HMS Belfast a Light Cruiser from the Second World War and HMS Belfast (aka Bell) Guided Missile Cruiser of the Royal Navy.
Selfishness was the drive for Bell to break her Mothers heart. She didn't understand at the time how much wrong she had done, but it broke the spirit of her Mother.
It has been a year since that incident, only now has she truly felt guilty for her actions, being confined in a Dark Room and no longer having the entertainment of the old meant she was diving through her memories.
And just like now, among them were her Dark History. A Tear welled up in the corner of her eyes, with a shrivelled voice.
"Mom.... I'm.. so... sorry.... I wanna go home."
Even if she were to beg. The only thing that keeps bugging her mind was the sight reflecting from her mothers eyes. It was her, with a sinister and playful grin as she slowly let go of the most simple yet most dear memento of her mother.
'I'm a Terrible Person.'

"Intel's gotta be wrong.... I ain't seeing a worth saving one of our own for this type of base."
A Grumbled complaint came from a Masked Kansen overlooking from her ship's mast.
The other person wearing a mask covering her eyes smiled with a smug expression.
"We don't leave others behind. Especialy because this is our past mistake."
The Masked Kansen just grumbled further.
"What ever. Lets just save her and be done with it. Casualties?"
"No if possible."

Mirai's jaw dropped as a set of list were presented to her. It was the cause of her request to a certain shady store from Sakura.
"A-Akashi... I thought I would recieve a discount? Why is this price higher?"
With a heavy heart she read the contents again, the cost of fuel per barrel were 50 gems each.
"Hm? Something wrong with that Mirai?"
"Kurk.... You too?" Mirai couldn't believe it.
Kongo was acting as if it was normal, in Mirai's world the fuel was much cheaper despite having inflation. But right now it was twice the traditional fuel cost of her type.
"I'm gonna go bankrupt after this...." pulling out her wallet Mirai scraped over 1/3 the money required in the reciept
"Hm? You're not paying in full nya?" The smug green cat asked innocently with a sheepish grin.
"Why would I trust a smug green haired cat all my money? Treat this as the first payment. I'll pay the rest once you fulfill the rest of the requirements."
"Fine nya~ don't expect it to be early as escaping the eyes of the army and navy will be quite hard nya~. So can you wait for 3 whole days? The coordinates are quite far nya~"
"Thats fine. Kongo... lets talk somewhere."
Leaving the store with the fuel and food she needed accomodated for she and Kongo strolled around the Festival streets.

It was during those moments where Kongo realized something, Mirai was acting strange as if something was dragging her down.
They soon reached a spot where they can not be disturbed by the surrounding. Nor be watched by some shady individuals.
Nearing a tree Mirai turned around with determination in her face, Kongo flushed a tint of red as the thought of a confession pops up in her mind. She has her insecurities about the matter, and immediately voiced them out.
"M-Mirai, are you going to confess you love me!? I'm sorry to say this but I am already Married! My husband is a commander and he currently is on a mission. I'm realy sorry for getting your hopes up!"
She rushed her words, her heart was beating fast. This scene felt too familiar to Kongo and being reminded that she was actualy married shut down any thoughts relating with Mirai.
Kongo sincerely bowed at a 90° arc. But Mirai merely raised an eyebrow and replied with sarcasm.
"Oh sure I love you, but seemingly enough I too have someone I like. So shut your trap and this ain't a confession N-... I am here to ask you a little favor, will you try and not prevent me from what I'm about to do next?"
"What're you gonna do?" Kongo asked with curiosity weighing on her.
"Something I must do. Why'd you ask?" Still oblivious Mirai never let a single move reveal her following plans.
Kongo knowing the change in her air can only sigh, accepting her request and listening to what she has to say.
"If its fighting the army then I can stall my launch, but if its the navy, yeah goodluck."
Without even taking things in consideration, Mirai replies with a nonchalant and uncaring, "Thats fine. My favor wasn't that, I want you to never talk about me. Its simple isn't? So can you do that for me?"
"Of course. Though I should say I too want a gain in this deal."
Mirai was about to say her farewells however Kongo's words stopped her tracks. She removed her mask and looked back to her in the eye, with an expression clearly saying, "what a pain".
"What do you want then? I'll do anything as long as its in the best of my abilities." Mirai crossed her arms and squinted her eyes, suspicious of Kongo's desires.
Kongo giggles in amusement to her words, "of course dummy, its in the best of your abilities. After all I know you could re-enter the Sakura Empire again."
"Nope sorry I can't do that." Mirai immediately turned around and tried to run away. However a hand stopped her.
"Heh. Are you sure? Maybe I should chat with the fleet flagship about a certain otherworld-" Kongo whispers in Mirai's ear sending shivers in her spine.
"Alright. Alright. I'll return. I'll see you later then" Mira gave her parting words.
"Lets play again, Friend." Kongo watched Mirai with a smile as she slowly disapear in the crowd.
Mirai stopped and looked back, no longer seeing Kongo or even the place they briefly talked. She moved her gaze up to the sky's starry night, a beautiful night a very rare sight in the modern era and its a common sight for this world, it was beautiful enough to move the hearts of stone.
She tightened her grip to her chest. It was a beautiful sight she hadn't seen before especialy in a lively location. It was painful. She cleneched her fist till it bleeds, there was one thing she would not allow...

"Weakness are Emotions. And I would never allow it to control me." She declared her voice drowned by the festive athmosphere.
(Yes its intentional. Not a Mistake)

"You young ladies enjoy yourself in oir wonderful festival." An Old Man says cheerfully.
"Yes we will Ojii-san." With a smile Maya waves off.
Soon thereafter she along with another person Haguro reached an Empty place. And there Haguro began a conversation.
"My God, I thought we were gonna get caught."
"... Yeah, It just baffles me this place is similar to our home. Too similar I might add."
It was shocking to see a primitive civilization compare to their own stand up against the sirens especialy with this type of carelessness was albeit rare to see.
"I'll save Bell-san, you deal with their research facility and we'll rendezvous towards the dock."
"Right."
They both split up, following Maya she went towards and snucked in a research facility, avoiding gazes or suspiscion because her intent was to ghost the place.
"Little Sparrow here, I already arrive on the objective. Ghosted, no alarms or suspiscion do you copy? Black Wing." Maya reports to her incrypted Radio.
"Black wing to Sparrow, report recieved. Look into the documents on where they hid objective Princess and burn the entire facility to the ground."
It was an operation composed of the two sisters, war gave them experience to work alone and be level headed in combat. That was why both of them survived the entire war where many other classes of ships have lost someone or were completely wiped out.
"What're you seeing on the docks? Black wing, I wanna hear it." Maya asked as she looks into the documents displayed on the walls and files scattered around the entire room.
On the other hand Black wing or better known as Haguro is in the docks surveying the "brand new" technology from sakura.
"New Radars, looks like no type existed even during this era. They've already begun reverse engineering her technology."
"Ah fuck. I never learnt history. What do we japs do to prisoners of war again?"
"..... I'll just say worse than you think. Alright I think I see something worth destroying."
"What is it?"
"A Rocket, might even be called a Missile by its blueprint. I've set the charges I'll sync our escape with the detonation, so have you found anything relating to Princess?"
".... Hm... Alright I found one, she's near your location. I'll send the data to your map."
"Alright."
Haguro immediately turned the corner to an "Abandoned" Prison. Kicking the rusting doors open she enters and a vile gust of spine chilling wind touched her skin.
"Right...." there was an odd athmosphere permiating all around the place, Haguro immdiately wore combat glassess using a feature thermal vission and surveyed the surroundings.
The place was indeed abandoned with nothing in the room showing a fragment of life. Yet the eerie feeling Haguro felt didn't whisk away from knowing that.
"Sparrow tell me the floor plans."
"Left to the entrance hall near the end of the hallway."
She followed her direction but encountered a wall of concrete, it was a dead end. Contacting her sister again she explained her findings.
"Sparrow this is a dead end."
"No thats the place, break the wall." Maya responded quite fast, reassuring her that she wasn't wrong with her sense of direction.
"Urgh why me of all people." She mutters not to the radio but to herself.
With a grudged fury momentum her fist landed breaking the wall but not enough to collapse it, but the second blow was enough to open a hole on the wall to continue her progress.
Behind the now broken wall was a staircase down, she continued onwards this time discarding thermal and nightvision to the more reliable flashlight.
Each step she took a following metalic echo follows, the sounds of faint screaming permiated the deeper she went. Her composure gradualy stiffens, her years of professionalism was being mentaly broken.
"Sparrow come in, I-" the thought of leaving the mission crossed her mind, she shook her head denying the thoughts, "where am I going next? Sparrow? Sparrow? ..... Fuck!"
She threw her communicator down to the floor. Finaly she reached the ground floor, picking up her still functioning (mildly) radio she searched the place.
Two doors were at the end of the hallway. Opening both there was nothing inside in each room. It was empty, she bit her lip not wishing to go back and forth to the stairs.
She punched the wall between the doors and opened another chamber. This time it was a small dome like chamber lit up only by glowing ores.
There was a heavy door at the end, Haguro felt relieved to notice light within the room visble from the small gap.
Opening it she entered an underground facility. A place littered with life, immediately she hid by the boxes.
"What. The. Fuck." She mutters as a new type of Aircraft was being tested.
The Aircraft has two jet engines, in a box like configuration, clearly this wasn't a normal jet engine. Then she notice another aircraft coated in Black and neon red hung up being studied. It wasn't just one there were many lined up in rows examined to the tiniest of details.
"Is that the mark of a siren? They're clearly different from ours...."
There was a large difference she noticed between the one she was familiar with against this otherworldly one. Firstly the colour, the siren she was familiar with was coated in white and neon violet rather than the black and neon red she hypothesized that this was due to a tactic being used as to implement fear within the enemy
"The sirens have been known to go across worlds... and yet why haven't they used something similar to our worlds counterpart?"
Immediately she hid as a few soldiers marched running to her direction, armed with rifles unfamiliar to her. They took cover by the door and slowly entered where she came from with caution.
"Shit they must've heard me."
Now it was a race against time, soon the entire island will be notified. There was still no radio signal for her to update Maya of the situation. That was why she needs to hurry up.
Crouching as she approached a room she immediately opened it, and walked past guards and reseaechers alike. As she snucked pass all the people she encountered she reached a cellular door.
The handle didn't budge, summoning a part of her rigging, a High Powered laser. She slowly opened the door's lock, the panel dropped to the floor alerting her position but this was her final checkpoint to the objective.
As the doors slowly and gruntly open the light behind entered the dark room and there Haguro saw, a hopeless girl in her knees crying.
"Belfast!? Well I'm not surprise." She held out her arms asking for the girl's hand in return. "Let's get out of here, shall we?" With a smile she reassured her.

The Painter: A fantasy psych thriller and epic
*** June 21th Update ***- New chapters are being posted! I haven't figured out a schedule yet, but stay tuned!- Thank you to everyone who has read and reviewed, I'm happy to say The Painter is in the top 200 best-rated fictions. - Readers of The Painter have suggested reading through Chapter 6 before making a decision on this book.- The story takes place in the Lootverse, but you don't need a canonical understanding to appreciate the storyFinally, a warning or reader beware: This is not an action novel (despite the coming fight scene) but a slow-burn psychological thriller of sorts. For a time, the Painter's life was simple. He lived in the small town of Kinon (called Kinney by locals) with his wife, Kahriah and his son, Thesdon. The story begins with him alone and unable to travel more than a few hundred miles from his home. For 5 years he tried to chart his prison until one day a letter appears with a mysterious commission that will see him test his condition and his boundary. Set roughly 50 years before the impending end of days (from Loot canon), The Painter is a story about loss, grit, and exploration of a seemingly normal man in a world of magic and monsters. The Painter will follow the man on his adventure to restore his family, uncover his commissioners and discover the nature of his condition. Loot is the decentralized, global, community built fantasy world based on Dom Hoffman's art/tech experiment: Loot. Fun fact: The cover of our book is painted by the artist, who the MC is loosely based on and the same person painting the Banners (digitally) IRL for an art/worldbuilding project.

The Way of Wrought Earth, or: My Tale of Rebirth as a Mostly Inanimate Rock
Mirage Winter. Second Clause, current act. A Relic Hunter's life is harsh — and often short — in the shattered lands of the Frontier. But when Whitelight reemerges, a legendary blade capable of separating anything the user wills it to cut, a newly formed unit organized of Hunter’s both young and old (and sediment based, in a particular case) vow to stop it from falling into cruel hands. Standing against them is the Frontier itself: the unbridled wrath of global federations, fellow Hunters, and those who lurk in the shadows of giants. As the world races to unravel a history desperately concealed, a semi-sapient rock soon realizes that some things are better off dead and buried — especially when those secrets carry an insidious corruption with no cure. Iteration: Mirror-glass Stars in Iron Oceans. First Clause. A soul wakes up as a rock, clinging to fragmented memories and knowledge of another era. What fate awaits such a creature? No, this isn't satire. Yes, I am dumb enough to try to take this seriously. Updates Wednesday, Friday with a variable amount of chapters. This story is not recommended for the easily disturbed. This is your only warning.

He soon finds himself living a duel life, bouncing between his mundane life as a shelf stuffer and a strange new one. One where he has floppy ears and itty bitty paws. I'm considering writing a large group of chapters then posting them all at once or otherwise setting up releases in a way that makes sense. I'm still figuring out how to go about this particular endevor and thank you for your patience.
