y/n's pov

It was the middle of the night, and Naofumi was working on making some accessories for Raphtalia and Filo. The 3 girls were sound asleep so he was able to work without them knowing about it. I watched from up in a tree that I had climbed to keep watch during the night. Naofumi walked over to Raphtalia and was comparing the bracelet he made to Raphtalia's arm size. After that he went over to Filo and went to do the same with a hair pin he had made, however Filo woke up so he hid it behind his back. Filo went back to sleep after a little and Naofumi walked back over to his tool to finish touching up the accessories. I shrugged and took the necklace I had made the other day out of my pocket, since Naofumi was making that accessory for Filo, I wouldn't need to give this to her. I decided to put it on myself since the [Quick Step] ability would be pretty useful. I looked out into the forest, keeping watch until morning came. Once the sun had come up, Naofumi immediately started getting the wagon ready to continue travel, until Raphtalia noticed an old woman and small boy walking on the path. Naofumi cooked food for them at Raphtalia's request and after they had finished eating the old woman spoke "You fold had better turn back." the boy spoke after her "If you keep going, you'll die" Naofumi frowned "We heard there's a village down this path" The old woman looked down "The village is done for. The plague even got the village elder." Naofumi looked towards the path and sighed. After cleaning up all the stuff used for making food and eating, we continued to the village.

After a while of traveling, we made out way to a very run down looking village. The only sign of life was an old man standing on his porch, who noticed us and spoke "What brings you to a place like this?" Naofumi looked over at him "I'm a traveling merchant. I'm here to sell you medicine" The man stared at us "travelling merchant......wait, that Filolial...Could it be the Heavenly Fowl?" the man suddenly ran down the road, yelling "Doctor!" he ran to a brick building and knocked on the door until a man walked out "What's the matter?" the old man spoke "Our Savior of the Heavenly Fowl has come for us!"The man looked over at us in surprise. After we were taken inside quickly. Naofumi looked at the man "Doctor?" the man nodded "I run the village clinic.....If I may ask, are you really..." Naofumi frowned "I'm only here to sell you medicine" The doctor smiled "Even that would be a great help! I cannot make nearly enough for everyone!" We went into a room that was filled with beds of sick people. A lady in a nurse robe stood up "Doctor, who are these people?" the doctor looks at her "Oh, they say they'll sell us medicine" Naofumi frowned "looking at this, I should probably give it to them myself" They watched as Naofumi walked up to a bed and took out a potion, using his potion enhance skill on the potion as he gave it to the person. The person glowed slightly before starting to look better. Soon he had me, Rifana and Raphtalia helping give potions to the sick. Naofumi and I used potion enhance on the potions to heal the people better. After we finished, we went outside and unloaded a few boxes of potions into the storage shed outside. When we went back inside, the doctor gave Naofumi a small bag of coin. Naofumi sat down and counted the coin "Fifty silver huh?" the doctor frowned "will it be enough?" Naofumi sighed and closed his eyes "you are a bit short, but I will take it" The doctor smiled "you were truly a great help. Now we've staved off the immediate crisis" Naofumi glared slightly "are you truly satisfied with that? All I did was treat their symptoms. I didn't cure them. They'll eventually go back to square one" I shook my head and mumbled "unless we do something about the source" The doctor looked down "You're indeed right" Naofumi spoke again "not that I mind since I'll be making more money. Let's see what dies out first, you or your coffers." Rifana glared at him but I grabbed her hand to calm her. The nurse got angry "We know that we can't let this go on! but....there's nothing we can do." Raphtalia speaks up "what do you mean?" the nurse looked at her "we believe the wind from the mountain that's home to monsters is the cause." Naofumi looked at them "Mountain that's home to monsters?"

The doctor started explaining "around a month ago, a large dragon that nested there was killed by the Sword Hero. In order to see the dragon's corpse and gather materials, many adventurers came to our village. That certainly did help the village flourish. But one day, an adventurer collapsed, and many more followed. The dragon's flesh must have begun to rot and emit some kind of poison." Naofumi thought about something before muttering "actually, I guess it must've slipped his mind, since he thinks this world is a game." Raphtalia looked at the doctor "If you know the cause, then why don't you get rid of it?" The nurse responded "that mountain's filled with violent monsters, so only adventures can go there. We can't do anything about it" The doctor spoke after "and perhaps due to the dragon's poison, the ecology there has changed, too. The average adventurer cannot get anywhere near the corpse" Naofumi looked at them "Have you informed the royal court about this?" The doctor nodded "Yes. We're slated to receive a medicine delivery shortly." The nurse added "But they said the heroes are too busy to help for a while yet." Raphtalia frowned "is that so?" Naofumi spoke up "Cancel the request you made to the court. Raphtalia, Rifana, prepare to set out." the two nodded. The doctor looked at Naofumi "wait, are you planning to go yourself? It's too dangerous!" Raphtalia smiled "Don't worry, we are used to danger." The doctor looked at Naofumi "I can't find words to express our gratitude" I chuckled "Don't thank him, He's in it for the money." Naofumi nodded "Five hundred silver will cover it" Naofumi walked passed the panicking doctor "Five hundred! That's way too much!" Naofumi looked back at him "that included hazard pay. you can just pay me what you were going to pay the court." The nurse glared " 'Savior,' my foot. He's just a money-grubber" Naofumi stopped at the door "I don't recall ever calling myself a savior" I got up and followed after him "The world is a cruel place, you can't expect your saints and heroes to be selfless anymore"

We traveled up into the mountains and up to the area where the dragon's corpse was. We had to wear face coverings too keep ourselves from breathing in the toxins in the air. Naofumi looked up at the dragon's corpse and sighed "we should've eaten before coming here, cause looking at that makes me loose my appetite" Raphtalia nodded "yeah" Rifana sighed "same, but not much we can do about it now." My stomach rumbled "I would eat if there wasn't so much poison in the air" The three looked at me in disgust until they noticed Filo who was eating the red berries from before. "Looking at the corpse made me hungry" i chuckled "Save some for me!" Raphtalia sighed "Don't over eat." We started walking up to the dragon's body to begin getting rid of the corpse, however it suddenly started moving, the blood starting to go back into the body. Naofumi stared up at it "A dragon zombie?!" Raphtalia looked at Naofumi "Naofumi-sama, what do we do?" Naofumi dropped his pickaxe and turned back "For now, get away from it!" They started running back towards the wagon until Filo suddenly charged at the dragon. "A dragon! I hate dragons!" Filo kicked the dragon in the face and Naofumi gasped "maybe we can fight it." The dragon charged up an attack "Get behind me you guys!" We all got behind him as the dragon spit poison at us, most of it getting blocked by Naofumi's shield Raphtalia and Rifana started coughing, but me and Naofumi were immune to the poison effect. Suddenly Filo started charging it and Naofumi yelled at her "Filo! Don't fight it alone!" Naofumi tried calling Filo to run away from it, however it was too late, Filo had been trapped into the jaws of the dragon, red liquid spewing out before it swallowed. Raphtalia screamed out Filo's name, as Naofumi blocked another poison attack. A message appeared in front of me 'Warning: [Cursed Shield] nearby.' I looked at Naofumi as I felt a a dark power coming from his shield. "Naofumi Don't use that!" I clenched my teeth as another messaged appeared 'skill [Curse Series: Rage] detected.' I stared at that "cursed series...." I looked down at my ring and frowned, knowing what I could do to stop him.

Naofumi's shield changed as his eyes glowed red. Naofumi walked towards the dragon and the dragon stomped on him, causing Raphtalia to scream "NO!" She fell to her knees until she realized Naofumi was holding the dragon up with his shield. I frowned and used my chains to pull him away as he tried to activate the rage shields ability. He turned towards me and growled at me, a cursed flame burning my arm. I glared and activated [Sin Series: Envy] using the ability to give put the [Cursed One's Ring] on him. The moment it got on his hand his eyes changed back to normal "What is...." He looked at me and saw the flame burning my arm "Y/n!" I looked at him and smirked "You think your weak flames could harm me? Focus on the dragon. not me" He frowned and nodded turning to the dragon. Rifana rushed over to me "Y/n, are you okay?" I nodded and looked at her, signalling her to stop getting closer "Step back a bit" She frowned and nodded, stepping back slightly. A voice called inside my head " Without that ring, you cant block us out " I frowned and clenched my teeth " Let me out, let me deal with it " " NO! LET ME OUT, LET ME EAT IT FOR WHAT IT DID TO OUR FILO " I put my hands up to my head as I could no longer hold them back.

3rd person pov

a chain flew by Naofumi's side, causing him to jump back in shock. The chain cut open the Dragon's stomach, causing Filo to fall out. Filo quickly ran away from the dragon, over to Naofumi. Naofumi looked at Filo "Filo!? but the dragon ate you" Raphtalia nodded "there was blood and everything..." Filo tiltled her head "Blood? I only remember throwing up cause it smelled so bad." Naofumi sighed and shook his head. "don't scare us like that..." Rifana suddenly shouted "IT ISN'T DEAD YET! DON'T DROP YOUR GUARD" Naofumi looked up at the dragon, surprised as it growled at them. however, before the dragon could do anything, a chain wrapped around it's mouth and neck. The group looked over at Y/n, who was the one holding the other end of the chain. A shadow covered the arm that held the chain. Rifana looked at him "y/n, what are you doing! Be careful!" Filo grabbed Rifana and pulled her away while speaking "something isn't right about Y/n right now!" Naofumi stared at him before realizing something and looking down at the ring that was now on his finger "Cursed One's ring? negates negative effects of the Sin series and Curse series.....why did he have something like this...unless!" Naofumi looked at Y/n, seeing that his eyes had changed to a purple color. Suddenly, Y/n started laughing " HEHEHE, Finally I have control! " He pulled on the chain, forcing the dragon onto the ground. Filo, Rifana and Raphtalia stared at Y/n, fearing this sudden change. Naofumi changed his shield back to normal and took off the ring, going over to the girls "We need to get this ring on him, that's the only way to stop whatever is controlling him." They looked at the ring and nodded. they tried to get close to Y/n, but something kept pushing them back when they got too close.

Y/n seemed to ignore them as he went closer to the dragon that couldn't get up. "You ate Filo and gave me the chance to take control. But now I'm going to eat you for what you did to MY Filo" Y/n pointed the hand arm covered in shadow at the zombie dragon as it struggled against the chains. "Bear witness to my sin. perish before my gluttony!" The shadow traveled down the chain and formed into a large monster. The others could only watch as the monster created from shadows ate the dragon, only leaving behind a purple crystal. "it seems it's core survived somehow. oh well." The chain wrapped around Y/n's arm and he looked around "Hmmm, I'm still hungry" Naofumi was ready to give up on getting the ring to Y/n, However, the ring was take out of his hand by Filo, who had taken her human form. Naofumi looked at her and frowned "filo, what are you doing?" Filo held the ring in her hand "he is like this because of me. So I have to fix it!" Filo ran towards Y/n as fast as she could. Y/n turned towards her and watched as filo struggled against the force trying to push her back "you really think you can get to me? Us sins have control, we are going to give it up to. Shut up!" Y/n's eyes flickered to normal for a moment before immediately turning purple again. "NO you aren't getting control bac-" He was suddenly caught off guard by a move no one expected. Filo kissed him. Y/n froze, giving Filo the chance to put the ring on him. Y/n's eyes went back to normal, and he immediately passed out. Filo held him up as Raphtalia held back and angry Rifana. Filo smirked at Rifana and stuck out her tongue. Naofumi sighed as he picked up the purple crystal that was left from the dragon, deciding to keep it for an upgrade later. After calming down Rifana, they got Y/n into the back of the wagon, and headed back into the town.
