Sun's POV
I... Can't sleep.
Today has just been so eventful! I got my first Pokemon, Litten, who is currently fast asleep on the end of my bed. I got to meet Hau, and his grandfather Hala, the kahuna. I met Professor Kukui and he gave me my passport and a Pokedex! And the most exciting of all I met the legendary Guardian Deity of the island, Tapu Koko! And I met Lillie... and Nebby.
Lillie seems so nice and she was so pretty... But something was off. Sometimes, she seems like shes thinking about something. Is something weighing her down? What's she thinking about? I want... I want to get to know Lillie better. I want to see her smile more. Her adorable smile.
In any case, I'm excited for the festival tomorrow.
Now that I've got some of these thoughts out of my head... I think I'll... Sleep...
Next Evening
I went to Iki Town for the festival, and battled Hau to please Tapu Koko. It was successful and they gave me and Island Challenge amulet for my Island Challenge. The festival was extremely lively and unlike anything I had seen before.
The festival continued on for a long while before we decided to head home. This time, though, it was just me and Lillie walking home together. Kukui said he had something to do with the Kahuna and would meet us as soon as possible.
"I thought you battled amazing, Sun. You and your Litten looked exactly the same, in perfect sync." She said, still looking ahead.
"I could feel that too. It was like we were one. In any case though, I'm glad we were able to appease Tapu Koko." I told her.
"Tapu Koko is amazing, isn't it? I hope I can meet it again someday and thank it for saving Nebby..." She drifted off.
"Pew!" I heard Nebby say in the bag as he moved around in it.
"Yeah.. Me, too" I looked over at her face. Even in the starry night sky, she looked... Amazing.
"It saved you as well, didn't it? And left you with that ... even though you're a stranger to this place." She said, as if she were still trying to process it herself.
"Maybe one day, we'll be able to thank it together." I said, smiling.
"To.. Together..." She whispered to herself. I turned over to see her lost in thought.
Just then we hear distant footsteps. It was Kukui.
"Alola! anything happen without me?" He asked, very clearly confused.
"Oh, nothing much." I say, as we continue to walk.
Finally, we made it to my house. I waved goodbye and went through the doorway, closing the door behind me.
I watch Sun's door close as I wave goodbye to him.
Afterwards, me and Professor Kukui walk back to the lab.
I climb up the ladder to the loft, and let Nebby out of the bag.
Together... I thought, repeating Sun's words in my head whilst laying down on my bed. Why do I feel so weird when i think of Sun... and I... together...? It's... It's probably nothing.
"Pew?" Nebby called, looking at me confused.
"Oh, I'm sorry for not playing with you Nebby, I'm just... thinking about something." I tell Nebby.
Perhaps I'm just a bit under the weather... I'll... I'll ask Professor Kukui, or Professor Burnet at some point. Maybe I'll forget about it in the morning.
Sun's POV
I had just finished the trainer's school, beating the teacher in the end. Before that, though, Lillie showed me around the Pokemon Center. I also learned that she enjoys Moomoo milk when she goes the ther Pokemon Center cafe. Is it her favorite?

We all walked out of the school, back down to the courtyard. I saw Lillie immediately, and ran to her.
"You seemed to be in perfect sync with your Litten—weren't you?" She asked, looking like her mind was focused on something else.
"I... I guess I was. It felt amazing battling with him!" I exclaimed.
"Um... Since we've come this far together, why don't I show you some more of the city? Come on. There's lots to see." She said to me, smiling. We walked out of the school entrance together, and began walking on the sidewalk towards Hau'oli City.
"You know... I was really impressed seeing how you battled with your Pokémon at the Trainers' School... It feels like you're really giving it your all for your Pokémon's sake..." she said. She was looking down at the ground, kind of sad.
"I think that's why you were able to save Nebby that time, Sun. And that may be why I wasn- Oh! I forgot about Tauros!" She said, being cut off from her sentence.
Standing next to the Tauros was Hala and Hau.
"Ho! If it isn't Lillie and Sun." Hala said.
"Sorry for scaring you, friend. I guess it's time to get old Tauros back home... Oh, but I've got an idea... Why not give him a little pat, Sun?" Hala asked.
I walked right up to the Tauros and looked at it. He seemed intimidating... But, I don't think he'll actually hurt me.
"Hey, buddy!" I said to it, petting its head carefully. I smiled at it. I looked behind me to see Lillie's face in complete awe.
Kahuna Hala laughed and gave Tauros a pat on the back.
"It's time to get going Tauros!" he said to it. Tauros huffed and begain to walk down the road, with Hala not far behind.
"The kahunas sure are something, eh?" Hau said, looking at his grandpa walking away.
"Uh.. So where are you two off to now?"
"I was thinking I should show Sun around Hau'oli City a bit." Lillie replied
"Nice Idea! You're always on top of things, Lillie!" Hau exclaimed.
"Let me tag along, too! I wanna go get something good to eat!" He said kind of nervously.
"All right. Let's all go together." Lillie said.
"Then what're we waiting for! This way! Come on!" Hau exclaimed, running far ahead of us already.
"Oh Hau..." Lillie sighed. She turned to me and smiled.
"I guess we should go catch up with him before he gets too far, Sun." She said, still with that adorable smile.
We walked in together, and entered Hau'oli city.
Hau'oli city was amazing! And massive, too. I walked down the street with Lillie to see Hau standing in front of a building. Hau told me to go in, and they upgraded Rotom so that he could use the Poke Finder! Rotom then proceeded to take a surprise picture of the three of us.
"I think I'll go stop by the apparel shop to do some shopping of my own..." Lillie said to me after Hau dashed off.
"I'll come with you!" I said as she started to walk off. I caught up with Lillie and we walked into the shop together. We looked at clothes for a little while before Lillie spoke to me.
"Oh. Sun... Tell me, do you pick out all your own clothes?" She asked me
"Yeah, of course I do. Why?" I responded
"Of course... Most people do, don't they..." She said, looking distant.

"I...I've always just worn the clothes that my mother wanted me to wear. I don't really know what kind of thing would suit me..." She said, kind of sad.
"Lillie... I... " I felt my cheeks getting warmer by the second.
"I think you'll be good in anything you wear..." I said kind of quietly. I could feel my face burning up. What is this feeling in my chest?
Did Sun just call me... cute? Sun just called me cute... cute...
I could feel my face getting warmer by the millisecond
"Um, I, um!" I said, flustered. I pulled down my hat over my face and hoped he couldn't see me blush.
"T-T-Thank you......" I said, still very flustered.
"I'm, um, going to go find Hau!" Sun said nevously.
"Yes, that would be fine!" I say quickly. I hear Sun's running out the door, and wait a few more seconds after that to make sure that he's gone. I think we should just forget that ever happened...
I lift up my hat and look around to see a few people looking at me, or each other while smiling and grinning. I quickly walk into one of the changing rooms and sit in it.
I'm... I'm having that feeling again... Perhaps I really am sick... I'm... I'm going to call Professor Burnet later to ask her about it, or even ask Nurse Joy for some medicine... I'm... just gonna sit in here until my heart slows down...
Just run, just run! Where's Hau? Find Hau! I thought to myself. I just kept running until I spotted him in front of what looked like a restaurant.
"Oh, huff, Hau, huff, there you are, huff" I said, trying to catch my breath from running.
"Howzit, Sun! If you're looking for good eats, you've found 'em!" He said. Hau turned around and looked at me.
"Wheres Lillie?" He asked, looking disappointed.
"Oh, uh, we decided to go do our own things, you know..." I said, remembering what just happened. I hope she won't remember what just happened.
"Sun..." Hau drifted off
"What do you think of Lillie?" He asks, looking kind of worried.
What do I think? What do I think of her?
"She's kind... Caring..." I drifted.
And beautiful, I thought to myself
"What is she to you?" He asked, looking a little more worried.
"A good friend." I replied. He looked relieved, as if a weight had been lifted.
A good friend? Is that what she is to me? Is that what I want her to be to me? Just a good friend?
I thought to myself about if for a little bit.
Before we could continue our conversation, though we heard a pair of obnoxious voices coming up to us.
"Yo, yo, yo, check it! Whenever, wherever we meet you, Team Skull don't even greet you!" The voice said. We turned around to see a pair of guys dressed in black tank tops and wearing a black bandanna around their face.
"Ohhh. So you're part of that Team Skull, huh? All you guys ever do is steal Totem Stickers and people's Pokemon and get in the way of other people's island challenges!"
"You know it! We hate the island challenge, yo! And every kid fool enough to try it." One of them said.
"Yo, Let's check these fools." The other said.
"Sun! Come on! Let's teach these Team Skull jerks not to get in the way of anybody's island challenge!" Hau said to me.
"Yeah, lets." I smirked. This should ease my mind a bit after what just happened with Lillie.
And there, just as fast as the battle started, with the Team Skull grunt sending out his Zubat, It ended, with a single ember from my Litten.
"For real?! Over already?!" The grunt said, shocked.
"Let's get up out this port, B! Nobody has to know about this!" They said, running away.
"Those Team Skull jerks really must have too much time on their hands, yeah? But keeping other people from doing their island challenges isn't gonna just make it like they managed to finish theirs, you know?" Hau said, looking at the now running team skull.
"See you around! I'm going to get some malasadas!" Hau said to me. Hau than ran into the restaurant. I wandered around town for awhile longed, before remembering that I needed to find Verdant Cavern, for Ilima's trial.
Then I remembered, Rotom has a map!
"Hey Rotom, can you show me where Verdant Cavern is?" I said aloud.
"Zzzt! Zzzt! I sure can!" Rotom said, flying out of my backpack.
"It'zzz right here!" He said, pulling up a map of the island, marking it near the top right corner of the island.
"Thank's Rotom! Let's get going." I said.
As I stated running to Route 2, I hear a familiar voice.
"Oh! Wait for me, Sun!" I turn around to see Lillie running up to me.
"Hey Lillie! What's up?" I say, happy to see her face.
"Oh, I'm glad to see a familiar face. I always get lost so quickly... I can't figure out the roads here... I can't even buy my own clothes..." She said. I guess this might've been my fault.
"Oh... I guess it was a bad idea to leave you all alone, sorry." I said, feeling my cheeks get the slightest bit warm.
"No, no, it's fine, it worked out in the end, didn't it?" She says.
"But you... You're moving on to your first trial? You're going to Verdant Cavern?"
"Yep, I'm ready to take it on!" I say, confidently with a smile.
"I read something in an old book once. It said that the island challenges were once a journey made to prove yourself and gain the strength to battle against the guardian deities of Alola. Like Tapu Koko... If we could meet Tapu Koko once more, do you think we would find the answer to why it saved you and Nebby that day, Sun?"
"I don't know, Lillie, but I hope we do." I say, smiling to her.
"Sun..." Lillie says.
"Yeah?" I answer.
"Good luck on your first trial. I will hope that it goes well for you." She smiles.
"Thanks, Lillie. Take care of Nebby!" I yell, running towards Route 2.
"Oh, um, of course!" I hear her yell back.
It had been a while since Lillie and I last spoke. In the meantime, I had caught myself a Rockruff from Ten Carat Hill.
Most of the time we've been training near the Pokemon Center on Route 2, in preparation for the trial that we completed.
We've been playing around a bit too. Rockruff is especially playful, and likes to nuzzle the rocks on his neck on me a lot. Rotom says that's his way of showing affection.
Ilima's Trial wasn't too hard, the totem Pokemon, Gumshoos, however was very strong. I got my first Z- Crystal, Normalium Z. On the way out I also met a strange pair of people in blue and white outifts. They introduced themselves as Zossie and Dulse. I think I've seen them before...
Ilima taught me how to do the dance to activate my z-move as well, which I didn't even know you had to do.Professor Kukui even showed me my first Z-Move! Afterwards, he told me the news.
"It's like I was hit with Amnesia! I forgot that I lost Lillie somewhere on Route 3!" He said.
"Think you could spare some time to help me look for her, Sun?" He turned to me.
"Yes! Of course I'll help you!" I say immediately.
"I can also look around where I think she might have wandered off to." Ilima adds.
"Thanks, cousin. Let's split up and find her, yeah!" Kukui exclaimed, before going to Route 3 himself.
I ran round for a little bit, being attacked by the occasional Spearow. Soon I was met with what looked like the entrance to a cave. The sign next to the it read "Melemele Meadow".
I'll look, just to be sure.
Walking in, I was met with an area full of vegetation, and a meadow full of flowers in the center. At the edge of the flowers, I saw Lillie standing.
"Nebby! Nebby, come back!" I heard her call out.
"Hey, Lillie! The professor's been looking for you!" I said, walking towards her.
"Ah... Sun... Nebby, it got out of my bag again..." She said, pointing to Nebby, who was on the opposite side of the meadow.
"Pew!" I heard Nebby say, as it went into a small cave opening.
"But why would it want to go in that cave...? And right after it got into so much trouble on the bridge, too... What if a attacks it? It doesn't have any moves it can use to battle!" Lillie rambled, clearly worried.
"Don't worry, I'll go get him!" I said to Lillie, reassuring her.
"P-please hurry..." She said back to me. I nodded and began trudging through the flowers.
I walked through the flowers slowly, careful not to anger any Pokemon on the way, before eventually making it to the small cave opening. I crawled into the cave and walked round before spotting a small purple Pokemon wandering around.
"Hey Nebby, lets get back to Lillie, she's worried about you."
"Pew!" Nebby said to me, before the pair I had met earlier walked up to us.
"Phew... Running around like this sure is tiring! Whoa! So the people of Alola meet in places like this, too, huh?" The short one named Zossie said.
"Calm yourself, Zossie. There is only one thing we are here to confirm. We must find someone strong enough to protect the Blinding One." The taller one named Dulse said. He turned to me
"I have seen for myself how strong you are, young Alolan Trainer." Thats right, I saw them at the festival, and at the trial site!
"Trainer, you should know that this one here warps away if it is threatened in any way... And the holes that are torn open as a result invite dangerous beings into this world. But perhaps things will be all right as long as there are Trainers like you in Alola..." He said, nodding to me.
"Let us carry on, Zossie." He said, gesturing to Zossie.
"Byeeeeeee!" Zossie said, skipping next to Dulse as they walked away.
What a strange pair.
"Are you ready to go, Nebby?" I said, crouching down to it.
"Pew!" It replied.
I led it to the entrance of the cave, and helped it out, crawled along right behind it. We walked into the field of flowers, spotting Lillie on the other side. I waved to her, and she waved back looking very happy to see Nebby safe.
We walked up to her, Nebby walking out of the flowers directly too Lillie. I still stood below Lillie in the flower field.
"Oh, you!" She said to Nebby
"Pew?" Nebby didn't seem to know what was going on at all.
"Thank you, Sun." She said, smiling at me. We looked at each other for a little bit, before a gust of wind blew by. There I was given the gift of an image of Lillie, with flower petals all around her. She looked even more amazing than she already was.
But with the flowers and wind came... The pollen.
"Achoo!" I sneezed.
I sneezed right then an there. I could see Lillie snicker after my sneeze.
"What?" I said to her.
"You're face just looked so funny before you sneezed!" She said, almost giggling.
Then Lillie started making a face, like she was about to sneeze.
"Achoo!" Lillie sneezed. We looked at each other for a moment. Lillie giggled, and we started to laugh a bit together.
I got out of the flowers and began to walk with Lillie out of the Meadow.
We walked out of the exit and were met with Hau running towards us.
"He-e-ey, Sun! Oh! And Lillie's with you, too!" Hau said to us, looking more towards Lillie than me.
"Just finished up my trial! Heh!" He said, turning to me.
"So you and me both beat that , huh, Sun? Looks like we're getting pretty strong! And I'm not stopping now. I'm gonna use this momentum to beat my old gramps, too!"
Right behind him I saw Professor Kukui walking up to us.
"Hey there, Sun! Knew I could count on you, yeah! Thanks for tracking Lillie down for me!" Kukui said as he walked up to us. He looked towards Hau.
"What's this then? Hau, you finished your first trial, too? I bet you used some stylin' moves, yeah?" He asked Hau.
"Heh heh, yeah... All thanks to Rowlet!" Hau grinned.
