"come on, haz!" louis squealed, already packing his beach towel into his bag, along with the sunscreen and bottles of water (and maybe a bottle of alcohol). harry shook his head as he looked out the window of their small, cosy home, eyes meeting cloudy, grey skies.
"lou, i don't think we should go, baby. it's going to rain, and that wouldn't be fun, would it?" harry asked, looking back at louis with an apologetic smile. louis just pouted and shook his head.
"i watched the news, haz! s'not supposed to rain today." louis argued and harry just shook his head, changing into his swimming trunks like louis told him, and didn't argue when louis grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the house and into harry's dented car.

"can you drive any faster, babe?" louis asked, bouncing with excitement in his seat. harry just chuckled to himself and looked over at his boyfriend, and then back out at the road.
"we're almost there, lou, don't worry," harry mumbled, turning into the lot of the empty beach and parking his car, smiling over at his boyfriend. "see? we're here!"
louis squealed as he jumped out of the car, grabbing his bag from the back, before taking off towards the beach. harry had enough time to get out of the car and run after him when the rain started pouring.
louis turned to look at harry, lip wobbling as the rain poured down on both of them. "haz..." louis said quietly, wiping the rain away from his face. "i swear it said it wasn't 'poesd to rain..." louis whispered.
harry just smiled kindly down at his boy, kissing his wet forehead gently.
"it's okay, baby," harry whispered back to him.
louis thought harry would say "i told you so".
but he didn't.

Macabre Mim
*Note: This story is on hiatus. I intend to pick it up again, but the mood of my life has shifted for the time being and I'm going to be working on a side project for a bit.* What would you give to live the life of your dreams? What kind of deal would you make? And when you were there, forced to stare your dreams in the eye and live them every day, how long would it be... before they broke you? Author's note: This is my first excursion outside the realm of villain fan fiction and I welcome feedback. The thing I've loved most about RRL so far is the potential for writing to be an interactive experience with excited readers. That said, also, the primary genre this is intended for is the blossoming realm of LitRPG. Namely, a slice of life tale in the manner of Grimgar or Re:Zero. So, likewise, I don't expect there will ever be a clear beginning-middle-and-end type of pattern to this story. It will likewise always be a bit more of a reactionary, exploratory novel into realms unknown - much like the 1800 travel-novel theme used by Jules Verne. Or, at least, that is my ambition.

There was once an Empire that stood here. The Clawscar Empire. For centuries they were the dominating power of the lands of the west. However, one night, suddenly, the old, rotting order was swept away by a mysterious storm that left as quickly as it came. The people who lived to see it called it the Ghost Hurricane.
