I take in a deep breath as I open my eyes. I turn my head a little so I was looking at the window. The curtains were opened slightly, allowing the sun rays to enter the room. I begin to move but come to a halt as I felt a weight weighing me down.
Still in a hazy mindset, I use my hand and place it on the weight that was wrapped around my waist. I come in contact with warmth. Not being able to pinpoint the weight, I turn to the side and come face to face with Noah as he stares back at me.
I gulp down the sudden dryness, my eyes fluttering open and closed. I then lick my bottom lip and proceed to bite on it. This shouldn't be happening... My eyes drift away from to the clock that was mounted on the wall above him. . The time read,
"Good morning"
He breaks the silence with his raspy, hoarse voice. I move to look back at him. I wasn't able to bring myself to say something so I just blink away. He obviously knew that his words affected me because he shook his head, like he was waiting for me to say something.
I still couldn't bring myself to say something. He took my silence and lifted his hand. He released a small sigh as he used his forefinger to move some strand of hair away from my face,
"I don't know how we ended up sleeping together... I swear I was on the floor last time I checked..."
He trailed off. The events of last night came down gushing down in a flood as everything replayed in my head. After he had showered, he said he would sleep on the floor and after much arguing I agreed on it sleeping with him again wasn't going to happen any time soon anyways...
It was my turn to suck in a deep breath before I gave him a pained smile. I tried to slither my way out of his hold and failed miserably as he pulled me closer to him. I huffed; my mind trying to create a distance yet my heart yearned for more. I finally mustered the courage to speak,
"Noah, let me go"
He gives me a questioning look,

"Why? Can't we stay like this?"
I use my hands and removed his touch from my skin. He sit up as he followed my actions,
"Lily?"
He calls my name but I don't respond. Instead, I only remove myself from the bed and head to my toilet. I quickly brush my teeth and walk back to see Noah stood in front of my bed,
"Why are you ignoring me?"
He took a few steps towards me but a warning bell rang in my head. I quickly raised my hand making him freeze in his steps. I swallow the lump before I shakily speak,
"Don't. Stay where you are."
He scoffs as he tries to take another step but I speak more loudly, more clearly and most of all, more confidently,
"I mean it Noah. What we had in the past has stopped"
He blinks, the words clearly not sinking in for him,
"What are you talking about?"
He merely questions without hesitating,
"What I mean is that whatever we had has ended. There is no me and you."
I walk towards my desk and open up the draw, picking up a sealed envelope. I close the draw and walk up to him. Still maintaining the distance, I stretch out the sealed envelope. Without hesitation, he takes it off me. I rapidly blink as he questions,
"What's this?"
"I was going to post this but since you're here, I might as well give it face-to-face. It's my resignation letter."
As I spoke, I had my eyes on the floor and I already knew that from my words he was shooting lasers at me. He hastily opens the envelope and takes out the paper. He skims the paper before he excruciatingly cripples the paper.
I suck in my bottom lip before looking up from my eyelashes. The look on his face held fire and fury,
"You've got to be kidding me."
He shook his head as he placed the paper back in the envelope and ripped it to shreds,
"I'm not accepting this. There's no way in hell I'm going to let it happen"
I stare at the shredded paper that fell like snowflakes in front of us both. I spoke whilst being zoned out a little,

"Weather you like it not, it's going to happen,"
He took a daring step forward,
"Oh yeah by who?"
I look up to his fiery eyes as I speak in the same tone,
"If you won't, someone will"
He took in a sharp breath and took a step forward. My heart hammered hard in my rib-cage but I didn't back down. He stood in front of me and leaned down a little, bringing his face close to mine. He whispered harshly,
"I'd like to see them try and besides, you need to have a good excuse or I need to have one and so far, I have none"
Before I could say anything, mums voice breaks through the thick, heated tension,
"Baby are you awake?"
"I am mum"
"Well come down for breakfast if you are,"
"Will do"
I respond back. I back away from him, leaving him stood in the middle of the room. I open the door in one swift motion and stood in the middle. I look over my shoulder, he had his hands fisted in balls, his jaw tightening very few seconds,
"I'm sure I can list one from your previous PA's that you've had"
Giving him no space to comment or have the last say, I quickly shuffle out of the room and head down the stairs. As I reach the bottom, I'm met with the smell of waffles. I allow my nose to follow the smell and soon enough, I'm stood in the kitchen.
Even though I'm in the kitchen, surrounded my food, I still couldn't get over the fact that he was still stubborn and a jerk. I felt like a failure, after what he had done I had caved in so quick... was this the feeling of being addicted to something?
The questioned ran through my mind. I walk towards the table as I pull my hair into a ponytail. I don't bother to sit at the table like everyone else was doing. Instead, I pick one waffle up and take a bite out of it,
"Baby, sit down and eat"
I shake my head as I speak,
"Mum, Mr King will be sat there and I need to head out anyways. Need some fresh air"
At my words Noah steps in and catches my eye. I swallow down the bite, my shoulder relaxing a little. Upon his presence, and my words, dad spat out his coffee as Leo spoke to no-one in particular but clearly it was because of dad,
"Really love coffee flavoured cereal in the morning, don't you?"
Mum looks at the two of us before giving me a questioning look. She rises from her chair as she speaks,
"Noah, why don't you sit down? I'll warm something up for you"
He gives mum a forced smile before he walks up to the table. As he took a seat, I walked halfway across thee room before dad raised his voice as he asked,
"Where you going?"
I simply look over as I answer his question,
"Job hunting"
He spoke back wearily,
"But you're already worki-"
"I've resigned"
I cut him off. I hear a clang of metal and I knew it was from Leo,
"Since when?"
Dad spoke sternly. I look down at my watch as I speak,
"A couple of minutes ago. Ask Mr King, I handed in my resignation letter not long ago"
I could already feeling dad look at Noah. I hear him let out a sigh before speaking,
"She did, but it's invalid. Her excuse isn't accepted."
I turn on my heels as I stare into his dark, emerald eyes,
"You said you fired more than 40 employees"
"I did"
"I bet all of them had invalid reasons for their termination"
"How would you know? My PA wasn't around to witness it nor stop me"
I felt restless. Agitated by his words. I felt like I was loosing the battle that I had brought up,
"Your words alone hint that you fired them for no good reason. You just did what you pleased"
"So what if I did?"
I stay silent for a second. The corner of his lip tugged upwards as he held a small smirk on his face, thinking that he had won but he hadn't, I parted my lips as I spoke,
"You just fired roughly one quarter of your company, are you sure that your company is keeping up with the workload that was piled up?"
Cat caught it's tongue. He had no answer to my question but regardless, I continued,
"Forty employees may seem like a small number to you because of your ego and pride but for your company it more than a small number..."
I turn away from him and the rest of my family who were stood in the crossfire of our heated argument,
"... if I were you, I would reconsider and bring them back"
