The butler followed Shang Yan’s instructions and delivered the soup to the bedroom.
Qu Xiao stopped the butler and asked him about Shang Yan’s daily habits. She wanted to fulfill her wifely duty to take care of him.
The butler was surprised. He felt that Qu Xiao was a little different from the past. He mustered up his courage and said to her, “Mr. Shang can be a little unsociable and eccentric. He doesn’t know how to sweet talk, but ever since you married into the family, he has been trying his best to make you feel comfortable and take care of you.”
“He asked us to get you whatever you need, even if you’re just mentioning it.”
“I have been serving Mr. Shang since he was very young. Considering his personality, he’s already being a good husband to you. But you...”
This was too much!
The butler did not finish the second half of his sentence. Qu Xiao waved her hand, signaling for him to leave. Then, she lowered her eyes and clutched the corner of the blanket. She felt so bad for Shang Yan.
The host was simply stupid. She actually believed the nonsense of those bloodsuckers from the Qu family!
“Buzz buzz.” The phone on the bedside cabinet rang. Her mother’s name was flashing on the screen.
Qu Xiao picked up the call impatiently. There was a piercing noise coming from the other end of the phone. It was so noisy that she moved her phone away and turned on the speakerphone before throwing it on the bed.
“Hey! Are you crazy? How dare you put Qu Qi in the police station?”
“The police station called me. They said that Shang Yan took her there himself. They can’t release her without his instructions!”

“Go over there and bail her out. Quick!”
Her mother’s commanding tone made her very uncomfortable. She lazily played with her hair and retorted, “No, I’m not doing that.”
“She used drugs and tried to hurt me. She deserves to go to jail for a few years for what she’s done.”
“You want me to bring out the murderer who harmed me? If I go to the police station, I’ll definitely sue her and make sure she’s in jail for life!”
Her mother did not expect her to refuse. She went silent for two seconds before she began to curse and threaten Qu Xiao.
“If you don’t go, I’ll tell Ling Chi all the things you’ve done. He’ll know what a vicious woman you are!”
When Qu Xiao heard Ling Chi’s name, she felt a little nauseous.
She uttered, “Whatever.” Then she hung up the phone.
Half an hour later, the Shang’s door bell rang.
The butler felt a little awkward when he saw Ling Chi at the door. However, when he thought of how important Ling Chi was to Qu Xiao, he invited Ling Chi to wait in the living room for a moment before running to the second floor to wake Qu Xiao up.
Ling Chi maintained his gentlemanly demeanor as he sat on the sofa. He looked around and thought to himself, he would never have come here if it wasn’t for Qu Zhen calling him and asking him to help save her sister, Qu Qi.
He wouldn’t have come to Qu Xiao, that stupid woman who always pestered him!
Qu Xiao got woken up and came down from the second floor in a rage.
Ling Chi forced himself to put on a gentle and warm smile. “Xiao, I heard that you were injured. I was very worried, so I left work and ran over to see you.”

“Qu Qi did something wrong indeed. But she’s your sister. You’re so kind, so you definitely don’t want your family to go to jail, right?”
“I’ll accompany you to the police station and bail her out, okay?”
Qu Xiao frowned as she rubbed her ears. She lifted her eyes and stared at Ling Chi. His hypocritical face was disgusting.
“The person who called the police was my husband. Why don’t you go to Shang Yan and get him to drop the charges? Why are you talking to me instead?”
Qu Xiao’s wound was still hurting, so she did not have much patience when she spoke. Ling Chi was extremely surprised by the way she treated him.
He strode forward and pulled her elbow. “Xiao, don’t mess around. I know that you have a grudge against me, but we can work...”
“Get lost!”
Qu Xiao growled. She wanted to break free from Ling Chi’s grip, but she did not have enough strength. The two of them fought intensely.
At the entrance, Shang Yan sat in his wheelchair with a gloomy expression. His eyes were burning as he stared at the two who seemed particularly intimate.
After he finished settling matters in the company, he hurried back. He did not expect to see the scene in front of him.
“Shang Yan? When did you come back?”
Qu Xiao caught sight of him from the corner of her eyes and subconsciously asked.
Shang Yan sneered, “Should I come back later so you can continue?”

But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose.
