Later that day, they had a feast for the farewell party for Alex, Ayana, Melman, Gloria, and Marty. Just a little thank you for saving all of the lemurs from the fossa.
During the preparation of the party, the penguins came up with an idea so that Alex and Ayana wouldn't go savage and eat their friends again, and mostly not starve.
Now, they sat at the end of the long table big enough to sit everyone with their eyes close and hair back to normal.
"Close those eyes." Skipper told them.
"Why do we have to close our eyes?" Alex questioned.
"Do it." Skipper commanded.
"Yeah. They're closed."
"We won't open them."
"Tighter."
"Yes, sir," Alex replied, sneaking a peek.
"No peeking." The penguin closed his eyes.
"Alright. They're closed."
"Just get it over with."
"Rico."
Rick pulled out a fish and chopped it skillfully like a chef.
"Hai." He said before he tossed two pieces to Skipper.
"Open those hatches." The pair obeyed, allowing Skipper to place the fish in their mouths. "Fire in the hole." He closes their mouths.
"Now chew. Chew like you mean it. Savor it." Skipper ordered them as they hummed with each with every chew.
They opened their eyes to the lemurs, penguins, and the rest of the Zoosters. They awaited the answer of the lion and leopard.
"And?" Marty asked.
"Well?" Gloria wondered.
"Pretty good, right?" Melman pointed.
"There's always Plan B." Julien illustrated, putting Mort in their faces, who giggled cutely.
"Absolutely not." Ayana declined. "This is the best thing I've ever eaten."
"This is better than steak! I love it. I love it!" Alex declared.
"The kitties love the fishy." Skipper announced, causing the lemurs to cheer and him and his teammates to high-one each other.

"Well, I propose a toast. Now, he may be a pain in the butt at times and she may be a strain on my neck... And trust me, I know." Marty points to the bandages on his neck and the bandage where Alex bit him. "But these cars proved to me without a doubt that their hearts are bigger than their stomachs. To Alex and Ayana."
"To Alex and Ayana!"
Everyone takes a sip of seawater, tasting it once and spitting it everywhere. King Julien decides on Maurice, to which he spits back. The whole charade went back and forth the ring-tail had enough.
"Enough! Stop it!" He commanded.
"Well, what do you guys think? Should we head back to New York?" Marty asked.
"I don't know, Marty. I mean, this is your dream. You sure you want to leave?" Alex pondered.
"I don't care where we are. As long as we're together, it doesn't matter to me." Marty answered with a smile.
"Well, the zoo wasn't all that bad." Ayana confessed. "Guess its worth going for y'all."
"Well, in that case... Yo. Rico. Ayana and I'll take 600 orders...to go!" Alex requested to the chef penguin.
"Hai." Rick nodded.
"Yes, yes. But before you guys leave, I have an announcement to make. So shut up, everyone, please." Julien says, having the lemurs calm down before he takes off his crown. "Thank you. After much deep and profound brain things inside my head, I have decided to thank you for bringing peace to our home. And to make you feel good, I'm gonna give you this lovely parting gift."
"No, I couldn't. Really, I can't take your crown." Alex replied.
"That's OK, I've got a bigger crown. It's got a gecko on it. Look at him shake. Go, Stevie, go!" Julien cheered while the gecko squeaked. Out of nowhere, he pulls out another wooden crown with dark red leaves. "Also, I heard you two were the king and queen of beasts, so here's another for her."

"Oh, wow thank you, Julien." Ayana lets out a giggle.
"You're very welcome."
The Zoosters boarded the ship and waved the lemurs goodbye.
"Bye, little fuzzbuckets!" Alex waved.
"Thanks for everything!" Gloria added.
"Bye!" Marty shouts.
"See ya!" Ayana waved.
"Okay, bye-bye, now." Julien waved back.
"Arrivederci," Marty tells them.
"Bye-bye." King Julien restated.
"Toodle-oo!" Maurice shouted.
"Bye! Goodbye!" Mort called out.
"See you later, crocodile. Maurice, my arm is tired. Wave it for me." The aye-aye lemur obeyed the ring-tail and waved his arm.
"Faster, you naughty little monkey!"
Maurice reluctantly obliged.
"You know, by the time we get to New York, it’s gonna be the middle of winter. So I was just thinking, why rush? Maybe we could make a few side stops along the way?" Alex suggested.
"Maybe Paris."
"You just read my mind." Gloria cheered.
"I was thinking Spain," Alex recommended.
"Yeah. Run with the bulls." Marty summed up.
"What about Fiji?" Gloria inquires.
"Well, I heard about this place called Rome." Ayana suggests.
"Canada. Can we?" Melman suggested, making everyone go silent, staring at the long-necked animal. "Cheap meds. Eh?"
The other four animals shook their heads and playfully tsk' him.
"You know, I wouldn't even mind coming back here sometime." Alex admitted aloud.
"Yeah, I could do that." Melman agreed.
"Definitely." Ayana nodded.
"You could say that again," Gloria says as they continued waving at the small creatures on the beach.
Meanwhile, the penguins sunbathed on the beach, their white skin cooking into a reddish hue.
Private pauses his sunbathing to look at the Zoosters in the boat.
"Skipper. Shouldn't we tell them that the boat is out of gas?"
"Nah! Just smile and wave, boys. Smile and wave."
The four penguins glanced at the boat and they did just that.

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.

It has teenagers that had to become adults too fast and shows the importance of family. The story contains some language and abuse but no sexual content. ___________________________________________________________________________Update: The beginning of the story isn't my best work, but I promise it gets better. Bare with me and you will see how my writing style changes a bit during the book; I'm just too lazy to go back and rewrite the first couple chapters ;) ENJOY!
