the memories will

cling to your mind

like ghosts and echoes

of something that

they once was were and

they are cliched

and cursed but not

dead for they are dying

and they will never let go

of your neurons and

the back of your irises

until they do and then

they will slip from

the roots of your eyelids

and you will gasp as you notice

that something has lifted

(or fallen) and realise

that the memories were

never really in your head

or even your soul but pieces

of reality that didn't want

to stop existing so they

clung to your emotion

like a parasite until

their hands grew tired
