the most beautiful thing

a person can do

is to fall in love, to allow

marigolds to bloom within you, because,

those marigolds could easily wither

and litter the bottom of your soul

like humanity littering the ocean, but,

more likely the marigolds could grow

they could grow and grow until

they become a weed, they choke you,

filling your veins and esophagus,

smothering your vocal chords

so you cannot sing for your mate

and you will bleed and scream

as love bursts from your eyes

until you cannot see or hear or breathe

or exist, or love

but you will anyway because

the roots of the marigolds

have rooted themselves

so deep into your soul

that they cannot let go

and release you to death

so instead you will become

an undead lover

as love kills you but keeps you alive

for it will not allow you

to move on and embrace

death and space and the moon and

the galaxy beyond this mortal and finite realm-

but still,

you will love.

and that is

the most beautiful thing a human can do.
