One week later...

"Ugh, I'm so stupid." I mumbled to myself staring at my reflection in the mirror.

"You're just a stupid white girl." I said squeezing my arm.

"You don't even deserve to be here, just die already." I smiled to myself.

"Just go away Kambree. Go with your mom." My mind told my heart.

"You're right." I nodded to myself.

I sighed and shook myself away from my thoughts. I felt like I was going crazy and I was so scared. It felt like my

mind was telling me to give up but my heart was just crying out for help.

I shook my head and played the song that I've been playing every since my mom was ripped away from me.

I looked down at the necklace that I got off of my mom's neck that night and rubbed my thumb over it. "Where are you now?"

I listened as the first two verses played thinking of all the competitions me and my mom attended.

I wiped the tears that fell down my face and started pinching my leg. "I need help right now."

I picked up the picture we took from the adoption day and smiled.

I started singing the lyrics to myself as I hugged the picture.

I cried as the rest of the song played throughout the room. I really just wanted one last talk with my mom. People at school have been saying things like she wasn't even my real mom. But honestly she was, she was the one who took me in. She loved me like I was her own flesh and blood. I'll never forget her or let her down.

She's always wanted me to go to the Olympics so I was going to make sure that I did it for her.

First step was too finally open back up and start back talking. I stopped the music and sighed.

"Bwee Bwee." Raelyn said running in the room.

I quickly wiped my tears and picked her up. It took Raelyn a good while to warm up to me but now she's used to me and she calls me Bree Bree but she pronounces it with a W.

"Hey FatFat." I said softly.

She gasped and looked up at me. "You talk talk."

I chuckled and nodded my head. "Yes I talk."

"You be my fwiend?" She asked.

She cupped my face and looked in my eyes. "Say yes."

I chuckled and nodded my head. "Yes I'll be your friend."

"No no cry nomoe, u mommy no like it, she say she all bettor."

I sniffled and wiped my face nodding my head.

"Let's go color." I stated standing up.

"Yayyyy." Rae squealed.

We walked downstairs to where everybody else was chiling at.

"Hey Kam." Nyla said.

I smiled and went to sit next to her. "H-Hey."

She looked at me and grinned.

"Hey guys." I said to everybody else.

Their heads snapped in my direction and they all looked shocked.

"Bout time, thought I was gone have to find me another girlfriend." Ja'Seem said.

"Boy she don't want you." Nyla mugged.

"That's my K baby, ain't that right?" He smirked winking at me.

"No, but you're adorable." I smiled.

"AHHHH!" Reagan bussed out laughing.

Ja'Seem smacked his lips and waved me off.

"Yeen have to reject my boy like that." Jamari chuckled.

"Nah it's aight, she missing out." Ja'Seem shrugged.

I chuckled and shook my head at them.

"Mari can we go to the movies with Kaydence?" Nyla asked.

I've peeped how she's always wanting to be around Kaydence and how she would always include me. If it wasn't for Nyla I would've probably been gave up on life.

"When imma meet this boy?" Jamari frowned.

Nyla bit down on her lip and made the yikes face.

"Ouuu stank got a boyfriend." Reagan instigated.

I glanced and saw Nyla blush and shake her head. "He ain't my boyfriend, he my bestfriend."

"Mhm I don't care, but I need to meet this nigga if you gone keep hanging with him." Jamari shrugged.

Nyla nodded and pulled out her phone.

"Kam you going with them?" Reagan asked me.

"Yes ma'am." I nodded.

She chuckled and shook her head. "Kam remember I said you don't have to say ma'am."

"Yea, but you're still older than me and I have respect for you." I mumbled.

She nodded her head and rested her legs on Jamari's lap.

"C'mon Kam, let's go get dressed." Nyla stated.

I nodded my head and followed her to her room.

"What should I wear?" I asked plopping down on her bed.

"We can just wear something cute and comfortable. I also think Kaydence is bringing a friend." She smirked.

My eyes widened and I shook my head. "No way. I didn't even deep condition my hair."

"Kam you're fine, just flat iron it boo." Nyla smiled.

"But I don't look cute enough." I whined.

"Kammmm stop it you are beautiful, now let's get dressed and go have some fun." She said looking at me.

I sighed and nodded my head.
