A BSDM scene is a pre-planned space where BDSM activities take place. It also includes the participation of BDSM related activities. Generally the scene is discussed fully and consists of an agreed upon beginning, middle, and end. A BDSM scene may occur at a club or some other play space. A typical scene may or may not include sexual activity. The term BDSM scene is also used in the BDSM community to refer to the community itself.

A BDSM scene is often compared to a story or a play because it often represents a sort of creative expression for the participants. A power exchange between a dominant and submissive partner is common a feature in BDSM scenes and sexual roleplay. BDSM scenes are usually based around predefined rules.
