《Breathing ∞ Kol Mikaelson [1]》[10]

"Nice to know my reputation precedes me, but while you know my name, I'm afraid I don't know yours, love?" The hybrid scanned over the girl standing before him. She was undeniably human, and while Klaus had made a point to get acquainted with all within Mystic Falls who may be of importance, he did not recognize her. And yet she knew who he was. Intriguing, indeed.
"Emma, I'm friends with your sister. I thought you might know where she is, but having seen that little display, you don't know either. Considering the fact that she was looking forwards to this, I doubt she'd miss it." The suspicion laced through Emma's voice was unmissable, making it obvious she thought the same as Klaus. Rebekah should have been here by now, and the fact that she wasn't made them both think something more than just delayed preparations had kept her away.
"Don't put it past my little sister to be fashionably late. Must have the attention of all, that one." Despite his own skepticism, Klaus brushed it off, choosing to give his sister some more time for her to appear before he started hunting down answers. He knew that once he did, it wouldn't take long to get them out of someone here.
"And if that's not the case?" Emma raised an eyebrow. She didn't know much about Klaus, in many of Rebekah's stories he seemed somewhat selfish as well as paranoid. Emma simply wanted to know whether she should be searching for Rebekah on her own while Klaus occupies himself with whatever it was that was going down tonight.
"Then trust me love, whatever's happened to her, I will get to the bottom of it. And whoever did it..." Klaus trailed off, looking for the right words to describe what would happen to whoever may have harmed his sister. However, Emma beat him to it.
"Let me guess, will wish they hadn't?" Even though she posed it as a question, it could be heard in Emma's tone that she already knew the answer to it. Emma didn't need to know every story about Klaus to know that he had no qualms about hurting someone to get what he wanted. Even if she hadn't had an inkling about it before, just seeing the conversation with Stefan would have been enough to know.
"You're a quick learner." For the second time in a span of minutes, Klaus seemed as if he'd been impressed. He hadn't met the girl during any of his previous visits to Mystic Falls, and the fact that she seemed to be a friend of Rebekah's made him believe she hadn't been a part of the story back then. And yet, in the short time she's known his sister, Emma was aware of quite a bit. Something he wouldn't have expected from a mundane teenage girl.
"I had a good teacher." Emma admitted. It was clear to Klaus now that whatever Emma knew, she knew because of Rebekah. While his sister had always been eager to make friends and somewhat too trusting in his opinion, Klaus decided not to dispose of the girl just yet. She could be useful in tracking down his little sister.
"How about we get a drink while we wait for further festivities of the night?" Klaus suggested, a smirk spreading over his lips, his hand extending as if motioning for Emma to walk ahead. "It would give us a chance to get better acquainted."

"How could I ever refuse?" Emma questioned, sending a sweet smile, but the slight sarcasm in her tone showed that she knew it was better to accept than to say no. The lack of intimidation or fear that the girl seemed to show made Klaus let out a small laugh. She was entertaining if nothing else.
The two headed towards the stone steps, Klaus falling into a step besides Emma. However, they hadn't gotten too far before the hybrid slowed to a stop once again, and so they found themselves standing in front of Tyler Lockwood. Emma remembered Rebekah listing off all the supernatural beings within Mystic Falls, and she remembered the fact that Tyler was Klaus' first successful hybrid.
"My mum would seriously freak if she saw all these people here." Tyler commented with a chuckle as his eyes scanned over the party which was by now in full swing as more people continued showing up. The garden was completely full as people danced to the music, enjoying their salvaged dance.
"Your mother won't be a problem: I compelled her to go to church and pray for your friends." Klaus said simply, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. And while the relaxed tone of his voice deceived Tyler for a moment, Emma easily caught on to the unspoken threat hidden within his words.
"What are you talking about?" The Lockwood questioned, his face scrunching up into a confused expression as he sent Klaus a questioning look. He didn't seem to be catching on, completely oblivious to there being more to tonight than just partying.
"I want you to look around. There is Bonnie, there is Elena and Matt and there's your pretty little girlfriend Caroline." Klaus pointed out members of Tyler's friend group as they stood amongst the crowd of strangers. And while he continued to talk, Emma tuned him out for a moment as her eyes caught sight of Matt. If he was here, Rebekah should be too, she was his date. And yet the blonde's absence continued on.
"I have no idea. I've never seen half these people in my life." Tyler's voice brought Emma's attention back to the conversation happening in front of her. His statement made her eyebrows scrunch up in confusion. She wasn't shocked by the fact that she didn't know anyone, but Tyler who'd gone to school with these people for all of his life... That was surprising.
"Would you wager a guess Emma?" Klaus turned to her curiously, making her send him a look that hinted that she knew what he wanted to get with that question. He wanted to know what exactly her position in Mystic Falls was. And so she gave it to him.
"I'm the new girl Klaus. I know, like, five people. Excluding you and your sister." Emma shared honestly, the bluntness making the Original laugh once more before he moved on to answer his own question.
"That's because I've invited a few dozen friends of my own. That's my friend Mindy...picked her up along the way in Kansas. Did you know that there's an entire bloodline of werewolves in the heartland? That's Tony from North Dakota and let's not forget the Seattle contingent." Klaus started to explain, singling out specific people within the crowd as he mentioned their names.

Both Tyler and Emma caught on quickly, but it was Tyler who asked the question on both their minds. "Are those people all hybrids?" The thought did slightly unsettle Emma. Not because she had reason to fear Klaus, after all, she'd done nothing to provoke his anger. But the thought of being surrounded by so many newbie vampires did not seem like the safest situation for a human to be in.
"Well, they also love a good party. And they, like you, were sired by me. They wish to serve their master. So if anyone should so much as make a move against me, they may feel obligated to retaliate. You're free to warn your friends." Klaus voice was no longer a calm teasing tone, but instead, the threatening demeanor quickly became obvious as he gave his warning. He was giving them all a chance to back off. Probably the only one they'd get. And Tyler knew it too, which was why he quickly scurried off.
"You seem troubled, love?" Klaus turned back to Emma, noticing the way she continued to eye the groups of hybrids that had gathered throughout the garden. The words made her look back at him with a questioning look.
"They're all in control, right? No need to go fang to neck and all that?" The specific word choices made Klaus chuckle in amusement as he leaned against the railing behind him while their conversation continued. He didn't break eye contact as he spoke, and Emma didn't back away either.
"Stick with me love, and you'll find that, unless you're deceiving me, you'll be fine. If my sister truly has made a friend, I doubt she'd appreciate me getting her killed at the school dance." Klaus said. A part of Emma was amazed by how easily he delivered his threats. Were she watching it all unfold from afar, with no knowledge of who he was, she'd simply think he was catching up with friends and having fun just like everyone else. Perhaps he was...
"Well, while sticking with you does seem like the safest option, I have a better idea." Emma said as something suddenly caught her eye. Klaus raised an eyebrow curiously, ready to point out they were supposed to be getting a drink together. Before he could, Emma continued. "See Matt over there, going to get himself and his date, Elena, a drink? Elena wasn't supposed to be his date. Rebekah was."
"Ah, so your idea is divide and conquer." Klaus now understood, a smile coming over his face. He couldn't agree more. "Any preference?"
"Matt. Saying I can't stand Gilbert would be an understatement, and something tells me you want your Doppelganger alive and breathing." Emma said, the joking tone in her voice made Klaus laugh again. With his hand he motioned towards Matt, as if telling her she was free to go. "I'll tell you if I learn something."
"Oh, no need love. I'll be listening in." Klaus sent her a smirk, making it clear that he would know whatever either she or Matt said, just in case Emma was lying or tried to do so later. His paranoia was becoming clearer and clearer to her. With a small nod of understanding, Emma said nothing else before walking away from him.
Walking over back to the drinks table, she came to stand beside the quarterback as he grabbed two bottles of beer, searching for something to open them with. Emma was closer to the opened, reaching for it and handing it to him. He only noticed her when he took it.
"Hi Matt." She greeted with what seemed a friendly smile. But of course, Matt and Elena had both noticed Emma talking with Klaus when they came into the party. And knowing Emma was meant to meet Rebekah here, Matt knew he had to be careful not to slip up. By now it was clear that, despite the fact she was human, Emma couldn't be trusted.
"Uh, hey Emma. I'm sorry for, uh, leaving you hanging. I would have texted you, but I didn't have your number." Matt tried to act normal, but Emma had always been good at reading people's behavior. And it was as visible as possible that Matt was nervous. Because of that, Emma didn't go in for the direct questioning, instead she played along while simultaneously making it clear she knew he was bullshitting.
"And what would have your text said, Matt?" Emma asked, pretending to be completely interested and curious to know. His lack of response made the overly sweet and understanding smile slip from her face as she sent him a questioning look.
"Uh, Rebekah's come down with something so..." This time Emma couldn't hold back a genuine laugh. She truly was amused by the answer that was more pathetic than she could have ever expected. Had he said Rebekah changed her mind and decided not to come, maybe it would have been more plausible than a vampire 'coming down with something'.
"Matt, the next time you get dragged into something by your friends, maybe you should ask for a full debrief." Emma suggested, looking over at Elena who seemed highly uncomfortable as she spoke with Klaus. "Because we both know Rebekah didn't come down with something."
In that moment Matt's eyes widened as he realized he'd done exactly what he wanted to avoid. He slipped up. He wracked his brain for an appropriate response, but nothing could come to him. However, luck was still on his side and it chose to appear in the form of his best friend.
"I need your help, man." Tyler announced, not even sparing a glance at Emma as he grabbed Matt's arm and dragged him off. Emma turned, watching them go and rush into the house. She wasn't sure what it could be about, but at least she'd gotten some answers. Because it wasn't just a suspicion after that, something happened to Rebekah. And Elena and her little crew were involved. Now they just had to figure out what.

46 Year Old Syndrome
The daily Litrpg journal of a fairly average 46 year old man in a world where hundreds of thousands of people suddenly have a super power.Follow him as he learns skills, runs away a lot, suffers crippling headaches, avoids reading his titles, and tries to avoid breaking his body that didn't get enough calcium and vegetables.[Disclaimer 1: Despite the following, I will fix any typos pointed out. This is a writing exercise so chapters are mostly first drafts, otherwise I'd end up rewriting each chapter for a month or more with no real changes. My goals are a steady output by not using perfectionism as a procrastination method. I've already got laziness and additions to reading/games, I don't need a 3rd reason to procrastinate.][Disclaimer 2: The main character is a more normalized version of me, with 170% less laziness installed, and a few buffs like greater courage. Other things like having a job are partially similar. No other characters are based on real people because most people I know are either too normal to be useful or too fucked in the head to be believable.]

A Forgotten Hero
(author: This is gonna be a long synopsis I apologise. This should be a prolouge but as you will see I have a seperate prolouge, please forgive me. This fiction as a warning beforehand is as basic as it comes, prettymuch following all story conventions of both the mecha and school life genres. I am mostly writing this to figure out my writing style before I begin something truly creative and uique. I dont wanna ruin something I worked hard on by being illiterate. Also illustrations are at a minimum because all I have access to is MS paint.) In the year 2028 humanity (accidentally) created the means to travel great distances through space in a short period of time. This has led humanity down the road of great technological advancement and also led to the spread of humanity across their home system and just begiining first steps upon other solar systems planets. In the year 2033 the human colonies in space broke from the chains of their old countries creating hyper advanced societies disregarding nationality and any other defining factor. Two space societies formed the Solar Empire a monarchic society with its capitol on the moon Titan which controeld the entire human home system aside from Earth which still remained divided into seperate contries. The other was the Extra-solar Leauge. A mysterious society outside of easy contact range with any other humans besides themselves. To help with construction and other work outside of sealed and breatheable atmospheres of their cities and ships the Solar Empire and Extra-Solar Leauge created what became known as Advanced Movement Shells(AMS). These machines are best described as huge exoskeletons or "mechs", and they aided greatly in getting things done by increasing strength, durability, and the amount of tools able to be used. They also aided in quelling rebellions among extremist groups forming in these new societies. Finally in the year 2050 the Solar Empire having divinated their emperor, and now beliving themselves to be their religions chosen people, the Solar Empire declared a holy war of conquest against all the nations of Earth in order to conquer it under the idea that all humanity was required to bend to their divine emperors rule. The first month of the war whent badly for earth as the divided nations fell one by one due to the Empires superior weaponry among other technologies which made their forces nearly invincible. The AMS were used to great effect due to their almost "magical" level of technological advancement. Some nations able to put up some kind of defense created their own versions of these technological terrors. From there the war became a brutal stalemate and suddenly was won by the forces of earth. Why this is still hasn't come to the light of the common man, but one thing is for certain it took a heroic effort from one, or many people to win it for humanity...

They never called, yet he is here (censored edition)
Introduction:Not every world needs a Summoned Hero, even if it is possible to summon one. No, really! Everywhere, no matter the time, there are always good people who can use glory, power and personal harem themselves. And the one who was summoned? He is just a resource, nothing more… Translation of the original novel by Avada KadavraThe uncensored version is available here.Authors notes:This is just my take on the whole Hero Summoning thing, where a hero happened to survive.Fatal mistake, an error in a well-oiled mechanism that lasted for generations, gave a Hero a tiny chance to decide his own fate. After all, bad guys never expect a Hero to come, yet, the fucker still does.Partially inspired by the series “You summoned the wrong one” by Aitbaev T.A. who was in turn inspired by “Rise of the Shield Hero”.I have to warn you, Aibaev’s work of fiction is pretty out of ordinary, it makes one breath fire, cry until tears turn to blood and laugh to unconsciousness in equal measure.
