CHAPTER 14
ANGIES POV
I was walking the streets of Paris when I found a cute little cafe. I decided to sit down and grab a bite to eat. Right before I ordered, a hot french boy, about my age, sat down.
"Is this seat taken?" He asked.
I blushed and said "No, no. Please, sit."
"My name is Luc." He said.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Angie."
"How do you do, my fine lady?"
I giggled softly and felt my cheeks burn, "Lovely." I lied.
He grabbed a napkin and started writing down his phone number. While he was writing, someone tapped on my shoulder. I spun around and saw Louis. The rest of the boys were standing behind him. Niall looked pissed. Harry was laughing. And Zayn and Liam looked like they couldn't care less.
"Uhmm Angie? What is this? How do you explain this?" Louis asked frustratedly.
Before I could say anything, Luc spoke "Oh geez. Is this your girlfriend? I am so sorry. I had no idea."
"No, I am not his girlfriend." I said almost laughing. Which didn't help Louis's mood.
"Yeah, but she is my girlfriend!" Niall said as he walked over.
"Niall it's not what it looks like." I said.
"I just sat down a few minutes ago. Maybe I should leave..." Luc said awkwardly.
Harry walked over and said "That would be best...uh whoever you are."
"I am Luc. How do you do?" Luc said to everyone.
"Not well." Harry, Niall, and Louis said in unison.
At this point Liam and Zayn were eating tacos looking like they couldn't care less about this comotion. I wish Harry, Niall, and Louis would do the same.

"So Angie, is this your friend from home?" Niall asked sarcastically.
"What are you talking about?" I pretended as if I didn't know what he was talking about.
"Louis said you were out with a friend from home."
"No! Louis why would you say that? You liar." I didn't mean to say it. It just slipped out, I panicked.
Louis looked pissed. "Yeah I lied Niall sorry."
I was shocked that Louis went along with it. But, I went with it.
"I just wanted to get a bite to eat at this cafe and didn't think to invite you guys. Sorry."
"Ahhh babe! It's okay." Niall smiled and pulled me in for a hug.
"Does this mean I should leave?" Luc said.
"Yeah sorry Luc." I said.
Now Harry couldn't control his laughter. He knew all of this was a lie, and it didn't effect him. So to him, it was just a joke, but to me, Louis, and Niall, it was not good.
"Louis why did you lie?" Niall asked.
Silence.
"Louis!! Why did you lie?" Niall said louder.
Harry walked away and sat down with Liam and Zayn to eat tacos and left us in complete silence.
"I don't know Niall." Louis said.
"Thats a sign of a bad friend." Niall said.
I felt like crying. I felt so bad for Louis!! He didn't deserve this. I was the liar!
"Forgive me Niall? It was a mistake. It won't happen again." Louis tried.
"I don't know bro." Niall said.
Then Niall grabbed my hand and started walking towards the taco place, leaving Louis alone.
"Wait, Niall. I am going to go talk to Louis. I'll be right over." I said.

"Should I go with you?" He asked.
"No!" I said almost to fast and to loud. "You go eat."
"Err okay." He said walking away.
I started walking towards Louis not knowing exactly what to say. But I didn't have to worry about that because as soon as I got withing a yard of him, he started talking. "How could you Angie? How could you let me take the blame for that? Now Niall is mad at me, and I look like a liar. And it's all because you can't decide between two amazing guys. You're so... Despicable." He said.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked.
"Theres nothing to do Angie. It's done."
"What's done?" I asked.
"Our friendship." He said flatly.
He started walking away, but then I yelled "Louis, it's never to late!!"
Harry overheard me, and started choking. Louis looked back at me and I swore I saw him smile, and said "Angie darling, I am not the boy that wants to hear that."
I ran up to Louis, laughing, and hugged him. The look on the rest of the boys faces were priceless. Louis and I walked over to the taco place and sat down.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Niall asked.
"What's what supposed to mean?" Louis asked.
"That your not the boy that wants to hear that.?" Niall said.
Harrys face went bright red, and Louis and I looked at each other and laughed.
"What?" Niall asked. "Somebody tell me whats going on!" He yelled.
"Niall its an inside joke probably." Zayn said.
"Or there just being weird." Liam suggested.
"It's nothing Nialler." I said.
"Good."
"Well, it's not anything...yet." I winked at Harry, and his cheeks went bright red and he started laughing along with Louis and I.

It isn't omnipotent and has definite origins which I'll explain later in the story. Another important aspect is world-building and crafting. I'll go into quite a lot of detail on both of them.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
