"Welcome, Baudelaires. My name is Ja"
"You're Jacquelyn! Mr. Poe's secretary!" Violet cried. A tall man appeared behind Jacquelyn. "My name is Lemony Snicket." Klaus gasped. "Are you the author of this book series?" he pulled out a copy of The Ersatz Elevator to show him. "Because the events in this story are creepily similar to ours." Lemony stiffened. "We'll discuss that later. But for now, Baudelaires, we want you to meet some people."
"So you also got a note saying to come to the library?" Duncan looked sheepishly at Isadora. "Not exactly. We found a secret passageway into the library." Quigley had been about to add on to what Duncan claimed but the doors swung open before they got the chance. "Quagmires, we have two surprises for you. This is the first." Lemony gestured to the children behind him. One by one, they stepped out. First was a dark-haired girl with a ribbon in her hair and sparkling eyes. Then a intelligent-looking boy with glasses holding what looked like a bundle of cloth, and his little sister waddled out too. "Duncan! Isadora! Quigley!" Violet ran over and gave them each a hug, though Duncan's lasted much longer. Klaus gave hugs too, and Sunny wrapped her arms around their legs. "So, who's the baby?" "Kit Snicket's. She died on the island." Lemony's face grew stone-cold as the Quagmires gasped. "Really?" Isadora asked. "really."
"Well, your second surprise."
The large painting of the original members of VFD that hung on the wall swung on its hinges, revealing some people they believed to never have seen again.
"Mom? Dad?"

Constructive criticism always welcome, unconstructive criticism welcome with the caveat that I very well might ignore it. Written for Nanowrimo, because why not.
