Chapter 9

Alpha Mason slowly walked towards us with slow steps, his face held anger and his eyes were manly on me.

"Mason," Lina whispered lightly but loud enough for us to hear.

"Didn't I make myself clear that no one was allowed to cross our borders?" He asked roughly while turning to Lina and furrowed his brows. Lina looked down and played with her fingers but soon looked up and faced her brother.

"But tomorrow is the ceremony, we had to-" Lina was interrupted when Mason growled loudly leaving us shocked.

"I don't care what the reason was, when I say no it's a no. Do I make myself clear?" He asked then turned his head towards me. I breathed in and Lina and I nodded our heads. He growled lowly and ran a hand through his hair and turned to his sister.

"I don't want to see both of you outside of the packhouse until the ceremony tomorrow, that will be a punishment for now." He stated and turned around but snapped his head over to Lina when she spoke.

"But Mason-" Lina started but didn't have enough time to continue.

"Don't argue with me, Lina!" He growled. Lina sighed out in annoyance and nodded her head.

"Fine." She huffed. He glanced at me one more time then turned around and walked away while the guards took us back to the packhouse. While we were walking I kept on thinking about the ceremony tomorrow. I was slightly nervous but didn't want to think much about it. I'm kind of annoyed that he's making us stay in the packhouse and forbidding us to leave it till the ceremony but it could have been worse. He could have given us a punishment we wouldn't have liked even more.

Once we entered the packhouse I hurried to my room ignoring the stares and sat on my bed. I took the dress out of the bag and sighed. I got up and hanged the dress in the closet but turned my head to the door when I heard it open. Does it kill a person to knock?

Adam walked into my room and gave me a small smile.

"Where were you?" He asked while sitting on my bed. I walked up to him and sat next to him while sighing once again.

"Lina and I went to the mall," I answered with a shrug. He looked at me and raised a brow.

"For what?" He questioned.

"We went to buy a dress for the ceremony tomorrow." He nodded his head but furrowed his brows.

"But why was the Alpha angry?" He asked.

"Because he told us that we weren't allowed to cross the borders yet we did," I muttered. Adam's eyes widened and a grin grew on his lips.

"That's my girl," he chuckled. I raised a brow at him and smiled at him.

"But now I can't get out of the packhouse until tomorrow," I whined while pouting. He chuckled again and raised a brow at me.

"So? It's not like there's anywhere else to go." He shrugged his shoulders.

"Actually there are, lots of places, and I also wanted to see your practice today," I stated.

"Don't worry babe, this body isn't going anywhere." He cockily said. I scrunched my brows in disgust and elbowed him in the stomach.

"Eww no. Besides, it's not like you have a nice body anyway." I faked gaged. He faked gasped and pouted at me.

"I do have a nice body, it's just some people can't see that," he huffed while crossing arms against his chest. "And for a matter of fact, many women wish to be with someone like me."

I laughed out loud and wiped a fake tear on the corner of my eye then caught my breath before looking at an annoyed Adam.

"Ok Mr. Big Ego, you have an ok body. Happy?" I asked while raising my eyebrow at him in amusement.

He huffed and a small smile grew on his lips.

"I'll take what I can get."

Adam stayed in my room for hours. We eventually went and ate lunch but soon went back to my room and talked like good old times. Back in our old pack, we would spend most of our time together. We also shared many classes together in high school so we would constantly see each other.

Lots of people thought that we were mates because of how close we are with one another and how we would spend our free time seeing each other, but we would always clear things up and tell people who ask us those kinds of questions that we're just friends.

Adam was currently telling me about his training and how strict they are when a knock on the door interrupted him. I raised my brow in confusion and shrugged my shoulders when Adam gave me a questioning look. He got up and walked towards the door.

"I'll get it." He said.

When he was in front of the door he reached for the doorknob and turned it and opened it. I got up and walked towards him but stopped dead in my track when I saw who was outside of my room.

Alpha Mason furrowed his brows at Adam and his eyes grew dark. I walked up to Adam and his gaze turned to me and his already dark eyes grew darker.

He stood there for a couple of seconds staring at Adam and me before speaking in a harsh tone.

"The ceremony is at 12 PM tomorrow, don't be late." He growled out and with that, he turned around and stalked off. My eyes were wide and my wolf was purring and whining to be with him. I looked at Adam and his eyes were focused on the ground. His jaw was clenched but as soon as I looked at him he snapped his head up and shook his head.

"How much I wish to punch him," Adam muttered to himself but it wasn't soft enough for me to not hear. I rolled my eyes at him and placed my hand on his shoulder.

"You heard him, don't be late," I told him. He looked at me and sighed before nodding his head.

I don't really know what will happen if we are late but it's better to not find out.

I slowly opened my eyes and yawned when I felt someone poking my arm. I immediately thought it was Adam but when I turned to the source I was wrong.

"Lina?" I asked, softly.

Lina was right above me with a big grin on her face. She stopped her poking and took the covers off of me.

"Come on sleepy head. It's almost 10 AM. We have to get ready," she said excitedly. I yawned again and sat up.

"Ok, let me just take a shower," I told her then got up and walked to the closet to grab a towel, underwear, and a bra.

"You shower and I'll be here waiting." She said while sitting down on a chair that was in the corner of my room. I looked at her in confusion and raised a brow.

"Why?" I asked. She looked at me and placed her hand on her hip.

"Because I'm doing your hair and makeup," she replied in a duh tone. I nodded my head giving her a small smile and walked into the bathroom. I placed the towel on the hanger next to the shower and placed my bra and underwear next to it. I took off my clothes and hopped in the shower before turning it on.

While I was waiting for the water to heat up I was thinking about the ceremony. I wonder how they welcome new pack members. It's clear that they haven't had one for a long time but that doesn't mean it changed from when they used to have them. I think.

My old pack used to greet new pack members by having a ceremony like mostly every other pack. But sometimes what they do in ceremonies differ. Like some packs have to chant words to be welcomed in the pack. If new members came into our pack then the new member had to say words of commitment to reassure their honesty to our pack.

In each pack, it differs but I am quite curious and a bit nervous about how they do it here. I heard rumors and they were not pleasant but I guess there is only one way to find out.

I signed when the water heated up and relaxed my tense muscles. I applied shampoo to my hair and cleaned it through. After using the conditioner, cleaning my body, and rinsing everything I closed the water and grabbed the towel, and wrapped it around my body.

I wore my underwear and bra and walked outside of the bathroom with the towel around my body. Lina turned her head towards me and smiled.

"I'll do your makeup then hair then you'll change into the dress, sounds good?" She asked while pulling the chair out for me. I smiled at her and nodded my head.

"Yeah."

"Ok, let's get started."

After a while, Lina was finished with my makeup and hair. My makeup wasn't too much, it was simple and nice. She also curled my hair, so my hair was down in soft bouncy curls with I loved so much. She looked at me and smiled a big smile.

"You look perfect. Now change into the dress and I already picked the perfect shoes for you!" She squealed out in excitement. I laughed slightly and nodded my head. I got up from the chair and took the dress from the closet and changed into the dress in front of Lina. I didn't feel weird because it's not like I have something she doesn't. You know what I'm saying?

After I wore it, Lina came closer to me and stared up and down inspecting the dress, or me.

"You look beautiful." She squealed again. I laughed an airy laugh and smiled at her.

"Thanks, but what are you going to wear?" I asked looking at her. She was still wearing her casual clothes. She looked at the clock and shrugged her shoulders.

"I'm going to pick out some normal dress. We have more than half an hour till the ceremony starts so I have time. I'll come and pick you up when it's time but I'm going to go get dressed, ok?" She asked. I nodded my head and she gave me a quick hug then walked out of my room.

I walked towards a mirror and smiled at myself. Don't want to brag but I looked pretty good. I walked to the windows and looked out of it to see lots of people walking around and kids playing together. I smiled lightly and decided to check up on Adam.

I slowly opened the door and saw no one was in the hall. Why is the hall always empty? I shrugged it off and walked towards Adam's room. While I was walking a clingy voice called out to me which made me stop. I turned around to see an angry Chloe walking towards me.

When she was in front of me she pointed her finger towards me and furrowed her brows.

"Listen here, b*tch, don't think that you're special just because Mason agreed to have you in our pack. I don't know why you're here but if I see you anywhere near him then you're going to regret ever coming here." She sneered. I raised a brow at her in a boring matter and crossed my arms against my chest. I really have no time to deal with someone like her. And who the hell does she think she is telling me what to do? It's not like I wanted to be near him anyway.

"Are you done? I'm quite busy." I told her while narrowing my eyes at her. Her eyes grew dark and she growled lowly and stepped closer to me.

"You b*tch." She growled out again and raised her hand towards me. I was about to grab her hand when someone else did. I looked up and smiled at an angry Adam.

Chloe looked up and took her hand away from Adam's grasp and growled at him.

"Don't you dare try to lay a hand on her ever again." Adam growled at her. She winced and stepped a couple of steps back. She huffed and shot daggers at me with her eyes then turned around and walked away with her hands clenched.

Adam looked at me and his dark eyes turned back to normal.

"You ok? " he asked. I smiled at him and nodded my head.

"I'm ok, but I could've handled her myself. Thanks though," I told him while placing my hand on his shoulder. He sighed and smiled back at me.

"I know, but it feels good to be the hero once in a while." He chuckled. I laughed and we walked back to my room.

We talked for a while until the door opened and Lina walked in wearing a black dress. I smiled at her and she returned it.

"You guys ready?" She asked. We got up from the chairs and nodded our heads.

"Let's go," Lina said. We walked out of my room and out of the packhouse. We walked until we made it to the same field where the pack warriors trained. The place was full of people who I don't know. There were some members who looked familiar but many who I never saw before.

We walked through the crowded area and I noticed as usual we got many stares. But this time I wasn't the only one they were staring at. They were also staring at Adam too.

I looked around and made eye contact with a person I haven't seen in a week. Kayla.

She smiled at me and waved her hand. I returned that smile and waved back and was about to walk up to her when Lina grabbed my shoulder.

"Stay here, the ceremony is about to start." She said. I nodded my head and looked up to where the stage was placed.

Soon Alpha Mason came up on the stage and everyone in the crowd went silent, and let me say, there were a lot of people. I guess the whole pack.

I tried to keep my stare anywhere else but him but I eventually looked up at him to be greeted with his hard eyes staring back at me. My wolf purred in delight but soon his eyes turned to the crowd.

"Last week three new members entered our pack and today we will welcome them to our pack and make them one of us," he said in a loud hard voice. Everyone's eyes were on their alpha and not a single person spoke nor said anything.

"If anyone is against them joining our pack then speak now!" He claimed. Not a single person spoke up.

He nodded his head and started to speak again.

"We will now start with the ceremony. The first member, come up."

Kayla walked towards the stage and everybody's eyes were on her. She walked up the stairs and stood in front of the crowd.

"State your name and previous pack," Alpha Mason said. Kayla looked nervous but nodded her head and spoke.

"Kayla Alex and I used to be in the Red Star pack," she said softly.

"Do you, Kayla Alex, pledge your loyalty and honesty to this pack?" He asked her.

"Yes I do," she answered. Alpha Mason nodded his head at someone and the person walked up the stage and handed him a bowl and a small table. Alpha Mason placed the table between them and took something out of the bowl. Kayla's eyes widened and when I saw what was in there my eyes also widened.

In his hand was a small knife.

"Give me your hand." He ordered. She gulped but did as he said and gave him her hand. He slid the knife over her palm which caused her to wince. Her palm had a scratch on it which was dripping blood. He also slid the knife over his palm and he placed his on hers. Kayla's eyes widened and the blood from both of them was dripping in the bowl.

He then took his hand off of hers and looked towards the crowd.

"Next member," he said. Adam nodded at me and walked towards the stage as Kayla walked back down. Adam said and did the same thing as Kayla did. I gulped when Adam stepped down from the stage and the alpha called for the last member, which was me.

While I walked towards the stage everyone's eyes were on me, including Alpha Mason. I walked up the stage and stood in front of him while he stared at me intensely.

"State your name and previous pack." He ordered.

"Tiana Sparks and originally from the White Moon pack," I said.

"Do you, Tiana Sparks, pledge your loyalty and honesty to this pack?" He asked while staring directly at me.

"I do," I answered meeting his stare.

He took the knife from the table and looked back at me.

"Give me your hand." He ordered again. I placed my hand in front of him and he grabbed it which made tingling sparks erupt from the touch. His face was hard and emotionless as he slid the knife over my palm. I winced slightly from the pain but held it in to not show the pain. He did the same with his hand and placed his hand over the bowl. I knew what I had to do next, I placed my palm over his, and when they touched I felt the same sparks but something else, something different.

I felt all the bond I have with my new pack members and with my mate.
