Once I got to school I took a few deep cautious breaths. My friends arrived and surrounded me with "Happy Birthday!" cheers.

Its 10 minutes till the bell. Maybe I'll have my birthday alone this year.

Spoke to soon. Here he comes wearing a white under-armor (thing guys where now days!) and brown shorts.

He jogs up the stairs and all you hear is a surrounding of "Happy Birthday Kevin!". My self esteem went from 110 to 54 in a matter of words...

Kevin walks by me and hugs one of his friends from behind. He laughs and turns his head to me and says.........................................................................................................................................................

"Happy Birthday Selena."'

Oh my God.

"Happy Birthday Kevin." I say smiling and shocked. Oh my goodness why would he- did he just- am I dreaming?!

"Awe that was sweet." Skylar says.

I laugh.

During 1st hour is the birthday singing. There will be jocks and my friends and whenever there was two people it always ended up odd.

They started, "Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear, (was supposed to be Selena and Kevin but ended up as Selevin and Kelena) Happy birthday to you."

Three kids I was sitting by burst out laughing. "It didn't even sound like our names." I crossed my arms.

"No they said Kevin but Selena was all weird." Jason laughed.

"Yeah so everyone knows its Kevin's." Another laughed.

This is where my birthday gets worse. 1st -freakin- hour!

Once I get to 2nd hour I start to worry about the remaining day.

What if we fight? What if his friends make it worse? What if he makes fun of the singing? What if he turns into a jerk again? What if he only said that to look nice and treat me bad when we're alone? What if he only said it because his friends weren't around? What if-

My thoughts were cut off by the bell.

Maybe I should confront him? Tell him to tell his friends off or something.

Maybe....

I end up not doing it. I'll seem desperate to talk to him for one. Two its stupid this will be my last year of coming to school on my birthday for two years. Thank God for day changes.

"After another person tells me "Happy Birthday." In 4th hour a rude prep must confirm.

"Hey is it your birthday?" "Yes." I smile. "Oh. Well I have to tell Kevin happy birthday."

"That's nice." I say and turn around. Now my blood was boiling.

I enter 5th hour more shaky than I have been all day. In, out, in, out.

"Happy birthdays." Bella says as I sit and Kevin enters.

Kevin leans over my table and gets in my face, preventing me from reading. "She said happy birthdays."

"Thanks." I say to Bella.

"You like him." Bella mouths.

"I-" I start to mouth then put a book up so Kevin won't see because he's on my side. "I don't like him!" I mouth back.

Kevin leans over to try and see what I'm saying. "What is it?" He asks.

"Nothing." Me and Bella say simultaneously.

"I- I promise I won't get mad just tell me." He says anxious.

"Well, you see its, she said, I- you know, its like-" I was at loss of words.

"I was saying she likes you and she completely denied it." Bella says. If I could kill someone with my mind right now!!

I think Bella's cousin says something but I can't tell. All I know is Kevin says "Yeah she's 13 and I'm 14." Is it me or was that a totaly subject change? Maybe he does like m-

"365 days till my birthday." He tells Bella. "Mine too." I say but neither of them acknowledge me. "No 364." "No a year from today." "Oh yeah." She laughs like she's a stupid blonde. (no offence to blondes but thats what she sounded like)

All of a sudden all the girls (whores, populars, fakes, and preps) start to say happy birthday to him. Once again self esteem drops.

"Guys lets sing happy birthday to Kevin!" One of the girls exclaim.

"Happy birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you." They sing as I fight off tears. It is totally low to cry on your birthday.

"Dear Kevin-" "And Selena!" Bella yells but is out heard. "To you!" They finish.

"And Selena. Happy Birthday to you." Bella sings and Kevin turns around and joins in in the last sentence laughing. This is truley sweet.

"Thanks." I smile to Kevin and Bella. I may be fighting with her but still that was nice.

The teacher enters and tells us to get to work.

"Ms! Its Kevin's birthday today!" One of the whores that doesn't like me shouts.

"Oh! Well happy birthday." She smiles. My self esteem drops just a tad but not much. After what he just did I'm still in shock and too happy to break down.

"Selena!" Bella's cousin says. "Happy birthday." She smiles. "Thank you." I smile back.

Then I go back to my book and I notice that she's coloring a birthday card. No doubt for me and Kevin.

Kevin raises his hand and says "Ms, its um Selena's birthday too." Then Estrella, a girl in our class, says "Awe." And leans back and awes at what Kevin just did. I would awe too but that'd be just a tad weird.

Kayden looks at me and says "Happy birthday." I smile and say "Thanks." He says something else that I don't quite catch. I am so amazingly happy right now!!

Kailie slides my card over and goes back to make Kevin's. It says happy birthday exc but inside it says 13 Reason's Why You're Amazing. Awe!! All 13 make me feel so much better. I get up and hug her and say "Thank you!!" On the front is unreadable writing. "What does that say?" "He's a nice jock not mean." She nods. I look at Kevin and head back to my seat.

He's a nice jock not mean.

I cannot believe she put that on my card. What if his card says something similar?!

"Bella...please tell me our cards aren't alike." "No." "Nothing like what you put on mine?" I ask scared. "No." I let out a breath of relief.

Soon she gives him a rough draft and final draft of his card. "Five dollars!" He laughs holding up his card showing a rectangle with a dollar sign and a 5 in it. Oh wow! He shows me and I laugh.

"Look I got 5 dollars." He shows me laughing and partially showing off. "Well that means you can be bought." I laugh. "I have 13 reason's why I'm amazing." I continue.

"Wait what?" He asks. The bell rings and I walk off with him. This is like amazing.

"I have 13 reason's why I'm amazing." I laugh. Once again he doesn't hear me so I finally say it slow and clear.

"I have 13 reason's why I'm amazing." I smile. "Well like 150 people have told me Happy Birthday." He laughs and smiles with me. If Jade was here today she'd see us and think her work was done.

"Well I- haven't counted yet." I laugh. He laughs too then goes off with his friends. Walking down the hallway with him and talking has really made this day great,

The rest of the day was pretty okay.

8th hour was awful. "I have to tell happy birthday to Kevin again." Hondo says. Jerk!
