《Rewind (A Hamilton AU/ Hamgelica AU)》Chapter VIX

-6 months later-
Angelica felt a strange sense of déjà vu as she was braiding Peggy's hair and putting on her veil. However, she was much happier this time around knowing that she didn't have to worry about kissing her sister's groom. Eliza ran into the room to help with Peggy's makeup. She was about 10 minutes late but at least she showed up
"Angelica! Peggy! How are you? I feels like I haven't see you in forever." Eliza asked out of breath. She did run here after all
"That's because you haven't." Peggy threw a little shade Eliza's way and it got awkward
"Anyways, how have things been with finding a suitor, Angelica?" Eliza quickly changed the subject
"Slow. They're either too boring, too sexist, just plain stupid, or-" Angelica cut herself off
"Or what?" Peggy and Eliza asked at the exact same time
"Or I just don't like them." What she was about to say was or they're not Alexander
"Oh, well I'm sure you'll find someone, Angie. I see things have been going well with John Laurens, yes?" Eliza switched the conversation over to Peggy
"Yes, we are getting married aren't we?" Peggy said in a joking way
"Obviously. I guess I should start on your makeup. What color rouge do you want?"
"Pink, not red, red is very last year."
"Alright."
Peggy was very nervous. Of course she was happy and she loved John dearly, but she was just terrified her husband would die on the battlefield. These weren't the things she should be worrying about, but she just was.
Eliza finished her sister's makeup. It didn't really take long. She just powered her face, added rouge, and added a bit of a red tint to Peggy's face

"You look absolutely stunning, Peggy. John's going to be so happy that you're his. I'm actually so happy that you've found someone you love. Forget those fears of him dying. It won't happen, and if it does, he will die honorably
Peggy and Angelica stared at Eliza. They stood up and wrapped each other in a group hug
"Oh Eliza, I've missed you so much! Thank you. Encouragement like that makes me remember how much you've done for Angelica and I. So thank you, thank you." Peggy looked like she was going to cry
"Peggy, don't cry! You'll ruin your makeup!"
The Schuyler sisters laughed again just like they used to, forgetting about the war, the wedding, and being a grown-up in general.
"You're right, now go you two! Go to the aisle with the groomsmen you were assigned. I'll be there shortly!"
Eliza and Angelica walked out laughed all the way to the aisle like they used to you. They took their place and placed their arm around their groomsmen. Eliza had Alexander, naturally, and Angelica had Lafayette. Alexander looked behind him and saw Angelica. They held eye contact for a brief five seconds and then the ceremony began.
Peggy held a bouquet of bright flowers and walked, no, speed walked down the aisle. She just couldn't wait to be married to John. She truly did love him you know.
When she got there they both asked to just skip to the "I do's" the pastor happily obliged. By the end, the two jumped into each other's arms and kissed like there was no tomorrow.
Angelica, Eliza, and everyone stood up and clapped for the newlyweds. Eliza was crying and Angelica was grinning from ear to ear!
Peggy finally had something for herself. She wasn't "and Peggy" To John. She was Peggy. She was Margarita. He loved every part of her, something Peggy never thought she could have. In the end, he wasn't just a one time fling. He was the love of her life and she was ready to spend the rest of her life with him.

The rest of the wedding was held outside in the warm month of June. Everyone was drinking, talking and having a good time. Doves flew overhead except for one large crow. Which was quite odd but no one thought nothing of it
Peggy and John Laurens decided to go somewhere alone away from the rest of the group. Laurens led her by the hand into a small clearing and looked at her intently
"Peggy, I love you. My heart shall forever be yours and I want to tell you this now and get it out of the way. In the event I die, I want you to team up with Alexander and continue writing essays abolishing slavery. If I die, do what I could not finish. Next, I want you to move on without me. Be happy. If we have children, remarry. They deserve to grow up with a real father. Lastly, this is for you."
John took a small chain with a cross off his neck and put it in Peggy's hand. She gasps
"John, it's beautiful. Where did you get it?"
"My mother gave it to me before she passed away in the year of 1770. She was such a kind woman and she always told me to follow my heart with or without people's approval. So I did. In case I never return from the war, I want you to keep this as a reminder of me. A reminder that I'm always with you, and that I truly love you, even in death."
Peggy put a hand to her heart and held back the tears in her eyes. No one had ever trusted her with something so important, or even loved her enough to gift her with such an honor.
"John, I-I don't know what to say except... I love you. I love you more than I could possibly say. You are entrusting me with something that means so much to you. I don't deserve you. I'm not worthy of you."
John took Peggy's hands into his and kissed her tenderly. He looked into her eyes and said
"You will always be worthy enough for me."

Author's note: well I don't know about you but that was beautiful and I'm gonna cry. So they're finally married! Keep in mind the year is 1781 so... it won't last long. I'm sorry, I wanted Peggy to have her own subplot. Yes, it is relevant to the story because Peggy will die and this chapter will come up again, so I'm not just bullshitting to make the book longer. Anyways, thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it!
