I don't know why I kept doing it to myself, but I kept looking through Maddy's Instagram and comparing myself to her. If that was his type, I looked absolutely nothing like her. It broke my heart every time I saw the picture of her hugging him, but I kept looking at it anyway and thinking:

That could've been me.

It had been a little over a week since I had found out that he was dating her, and I hadn't cried since that day, so that was an improvement.

I was trying to move on with my life. I barely even knew him, anyway. I met him while I was working at Wal-Mart, and then a few days later, we spent the day together doing the challenge to win the Audi and then watching Black Panther alone back at my apartment.

I thought I saw some signs that he liked me, but I just can never tell sometimes with guys. Clearly he liked Maddy more.

I looked at his Beast hoodie that he had let me borrow, which was hanging over my desk chair in my bedroom.

I scrunched up my nose as I looked at it; then, I stood up, grabbed the hoodie, and threw it in the back of my closet with more force than was necessary.

Time to move on.

My roommate, Jenna, decided to come home later that day. I didn't know her very well, but we had become acquaintances through our classes and decided to live together.

She was the best kind of roommate: a roommate that was barely there. She spent most of her time at home with her family or at her boyfriend's apartment, so it basically felt like I didn't have a roommate, but I only had to pay half the rent. It was nice.

I was kind of annoyed that she decided to come home today, only because I was in a bit of a mood. I was obviously in the wrong to be annoyed since it was her apartment too, but it just wasn't great timing.

"You look miserable," Jenna said. She thought for a moment. "I won't pry, but if it's guy troubles, I'm going out with my boyfriend and his cute single friend tonight... you should join if you want. We're just going to this free music festival in the city... super low-key."

She was very sweet. I was about to say no, but then I started thinking about Jimmy going on cute dates with Maddy and me just sitting at home and sobbing into a container of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. "Okay, that sounds fun."

A few hours later, Jenna's boyfriend and his friend came to our apartment to pick us up.

When we got into the car, I saw freaking Garrett--yes, the same Garrett from the MrBeast videos--sitting in the front seat.

"Small world!" he joked and gave me a fist bump.

Jenna laughed. "Oh, oops... had no idea you guys knew each other!"

The music festival was a lot of fun. It was a lot of small-name bands, but they were really talented.

It was nice that at least I knew both Garrett and Jenna, so I was able to talk to them throughout the evening.

As the event was winding down later that night, Garrett and I started talking more. He told me that the Audi video was scheduled to go up tomorrow; it was crazy to think that I was going to be in it.

"How's Maddy?" I asked, trying my best to act cool, calm, and casual.

Garrett rolled his eyes. "Annoying... like how she got Jimmy by spamming him with selfies until he noticed her. A hot girl so thirsty for him; of course he's thinking with his dick."

I laughed. "Is that really what happened?"

His annoyed face said it all. "Yeah. They need to break up soon because I can't deal with her."

"A lot of the comments said they think she's a gold-digger," I said hesitantly.

He shrugged. "Who knows? There's plenty of funny guys that love anime, and she chose the filthy rich one to spam with pictures... I don't really care about that, though; I just find her annoying and don't want her around as much as she has been."

"I get that."

"You're pretty cool, though. He should've dated you," he joked.

I wish, Garrett. I wish.

"Well, he made it pretty clear that that's not happening," I blurted out.

He gave me a surprised look. "Would you want to?"

I was honest. "Maybe... I don't know. I thought I saw something, but I guess was wrong."

"It's obvious he liked you, but he's just an idiot."

I chuckled. "True."

"We all thought you were cool. Fuck Jimmy--you should come hang out with us anyway," Garrett said.

"Definitely."

When I got into work the next morning, my phone buzzed and I saw that I had a text from Jimmy. As much as I hated to admit it, my heart started to beat faster as I clicked on the notification to read it:

Video finally went up!!

That was all it said.

I just replied with:

Okay, cool

During my lunch break, I pulled the video up on my phone and watched it. The guys did such a great job editing it.

I started to scroll through the comments and I had to smile. The first several comments were saying things like, "she needs to be in more videos", "I love her", and "bring her back".

Surprisingly, there were very few negative comments.

I noticed that the part where Jimmy came up behind me and pinned my hands to the car was cut out and didn't make it into the final video.

I had to laugh... of course.

When my lunch break was over, I walked out of the breakroom and started walking past the electronics section.

I was stunned to see Jimmy, Chris, and Chandler there again, piling more electronics into their cart.

I froze in place.

"Hey--didn't know you were working today!" Chandler exclaimed when he noticed me.

"Oh hey, fancy meeting you here," Chris joked. "Did you watch the video yet?

I laughed. "Well, this isn't the only Wal-Mart in Greenville, North Carolina, and you guys know I work at this one, so don't be too surprised... and yeah, I just watched it!"

Jimmy looked kind of uncomfortable, but he put on his charming smile. "We're going to create a free store with all this stuff. The dollar store was too expensive for some people."

I laughed. I hated how cute he was. "Well, make sure to invite me to that because I could use a new laptop."

"Will do! It's next month," Chris said.

Chandler patted the cart and had a devious smile on his face. "Which one do you want? We'll hide it for you."

"Any of them would be great. I just need something that doesn't keep dying on me."

"You got it!" Jimmy smiled.

A/N: Again, I don't know Maddy and I have absolutely nothing against her, even if this chapter might seem otherwise. Just part of the story, so I had to embrace my inner salty, jealous girl lol
