You looked around for some sort of explanation....But there was none. Before You could investigate, Nate bounced himself happily down the staircase. "Hey (y/n) look what game I got!!!!" He was jumping up and down in excitement as he held out Jenga to you. " I love this game. It's one of my favorites." You said as you gave him a bright smile as you started to set up the game.
You and Nate played Jenga for at least an hour. "(Y/N) I'm bored and so is Jack!" Nate said as he pouted. "We'll are you hungry?" He smiled and nodded. "How about I go make some Mac and cheese?" "Yes please!" He cheered. You then got up leaving the little boy to play in the living room by himself. You entered the kitchen. It had lite oak cabinets with stainless steel Appliances, granite countertop, chestnut brown walls and dark oak wood floors. "This must have been an expensive kitchen" you thought to yourself. You looked through the cabinets a found want you need. You turned on the stove and started to boil water for the pasta.
Once you had finished making the Mac and cheese you call out for Nate. No answer.
"Nate it's time for dinner." Still no answer. You started to get worried. You started to walk out of the kitchen when you heard a loud yell coming for upstairs. It didn't sound like a little kids yell, but more like a older mans yell. You ran back into the kitchen and searched until you found a large kitchen knife. You then made your way out of the kitchen and into the hallway. The closer you got the louder the yelling was. You made your way to the staircase and listened. Nothing. You slowly and Cautiously made your way up the stairs Adrenaline running through your body. You got to the top of the stairs and listened. You only heard crying. "Nate......" You said in a whisper. You could here him crying as if there was no door, clear as day. "I don't like this game it isn't fun." "it is for me!" The first voice you could tell was Nate but the second one was deep, and dark yet cheerful. Without thinking you went to open the door but it was locked. "Nate!" Now you were in defense mode. "(Y/N)!!!!" His scream was muffed out by a dark chuckle. Next thing you know you we're ramming you body up against the door, and it swung open.

Moonblood
Five moons rise over Evanir, each in her own cycle, and each moon is also a god, one of five sisters. Many gods create spirit attendants and companions, brought forth fully-formed. Long ago, the moons worked together to create a lineage that are, instead, humans transformed by the mingling of blood. They intended them to be long-lived and to draw their strength directly from the light of the moon who chose each individual. The five sisters had different goals in mind – one wanted it to be a blessing for scholars and artists, to give them more time and fewer physical distractions; another wanted them to have an animal form, different for each, to keep them more in tune with nature so they could serve as guardians of the wilderness. There are drawbacks to their children having human lives and personalities before being chosen: not all share the goals of their divine mothers, and some choose to put their gifts to darker uses. Those carrying the blood of one woman, fleeing the corruption in search of a quiet life, take a different path. -=-=-=-=- Moonblood isn't so much a novel as a series of adventures of varying length. They involve a core group of people, which does grow over time. They take place in a fairly low-magic world, but despite that, our core cast are directly connected to the moons and have various abilities, including limited shapeshifting to a single individual animal form. As with all my work, unless gender, orientation, or other aspects of sexuality are explicitly stated, I suggest not making assumptions. Probably most significant, I think, is a major trans character who appears about 80K words in - no spoilers, just a note for those who care about that one way or the other.
