《Hex [h.s]》Chapter Nineteen

The doorbell rang when we were just finished setting the table. Mom hurriedly went to the door, me peeking at the corner to see. Mom opened the door to reveal Ruby's mom.
Wearing her blonde hair in a ponytail, she greeted us. She was holding a bottle of wine that I knew she bought for dinner.
"Hello Crystal!" My mom hugged her, and I looked away, giggling at what Mom just did. It was funny because the woman she was hugging right at this moment was very shocked.
"H-hello to you too," Ruby's mom, Crystal stammered. I cleared my throat and mom pulled away, smiling sheepishly.
"Come in, Crystal! Sorry about that." Mom laughed, along with Crystal. It was kinda awkward when I greeted her properly.
Imagine yourself, greeting the woman, who is the mother of your dead best friend, all the while blaming yourself for her death.
Yeah, not everyone can relate.
"Hello Lucinda." She murmured with a small smile, and I slightly waved in return.
"Hello."
Mom suddenly screamed, making me and Ruby's mom jump. I looked at her worriedly. "Mom, what's wrong?" I asked, panic laced in my tone. Her facial expression was a shock one. Not a terrified one, but those two are just linked.
"I forgot about the chicken!" And she ran off to the kitchen. Me, cursing silently that she just screamed for that. Sheepish, I looked at the blonde woman, who set the bottle of wine on the coffee table.
Whenever I see her blue eyes, it reminds me of Ruby. I can't help, but sigh in pure guilt.
"Look. Aunt Crystal, I..." Lord, I don't know how to say this. "I'm sorry about... Ruby... and I..."
She placed her hand on my shoulder. And smiled—wait, what? Did she just smiled at me?

"It's okay honey, Ruby... was... well, she got hurt, and you too. It means you don't have anything to do with it, let's just hope she's in a happy place right now."
I smiled and nodded in agreement. Hugging her, she ran her hand on my back comfortingly.
"How's your arm? It's not bandaged anymore."
"It's fine. It quickly healed."
We pulled away and walked to the dinning room. Mom was standing there, a smile on her face. "Dinner's serve!" She chirped, and we all sat down. The smell of roasted chicken filled the room.
We started eating, they started to talk about clothes, normal things that women at the age of would thirty talk about.
"So, I wanna stay here until Friday, if that's okay with the two of you." Crystal smiled, and I nodded, including Mom.
"Sure Crystal, we won't mind." Mom laughed. But something made my blood freeze.
What about the devil? If he will do something to Ruby's mom, I'll be dead.
"Uh.. Mom, why not let Aunt Crystal sleep with you? I'm sure, she'll be more comfortable." I suggested, and Mom nodded mumbling 'not a bad idea.'
I sigh in relief and continued eating. The walls in the living room, in the kitchen and dinning room were finally painted. The kitchen a bright orange, living room a baby blue, and the dinning is green.
When we were finished, I washed the dishes, while the two went to watch television while drinking wine. I shudder and almost dropped the plate I was washing when I felt his cold fingers along my neck, with his icy breath running across my skin.
"So, you decided to let your friend's mom stay here, uh?" He hissed. "Too bad, that's not allowed. Hell, that's not even in our agreement."
Shit.
"I-I just wanted her to stay, for awhile. Not to live here." I stuttered.
"Mmh... That is... if she'll make it out of here." He chuckled lowly. "Alive."
I gasped and turned to him in anger and shock.
"Y-you sick man. Whatever you are planning to do, don't. Don't include her, remember this is our fight. Not hers."
"A fight won't be a fight until someone dies, always remember that, Lucinda."

Deeds like jumping in front of a car to save a child. Like walking in to a burning building to save those inside. Like taking a bullet to save another. Save, this is the word that defines a hero, to save others at the cost of oneself. But what would happen if a hero was not made by his own actions but was instead forced in to situation that would eventually make him into a hero. What if everyone around you saw you as a hero, named you as a hero and looked upon you to save them from what was to come. Would you become a hero for them, or would you lash out against them for forcing you? This is a story about those that walks the road of a hero, and the one who makes his own path. STAR WARS: Knights of the Old Republic
Four thousand years before Anakin Skywalker was born, the Jedi thrived as the guardians of peace in the galaxy. The Republic, weakened by a costly war with the Mandalorians, faces now another great threat. A false Sith Empire created by two fallen Jedi, Revan and Malak, has risen from the ashes of that war. Now the Republic is on the brink of defeat to their once great hero, now turned Darth Revan. Hoping to protect the Republic at all costs, the Jedi dispatch an elite strike force to capture the Dark Lord. To the dismay of the Jedi, Revan is betrayed and killed by his apprentice Darth Malak, who proclaims himself the new Dark Lord of the Sith. Now with the entire galaxy at stake, the Jedi and the Republic must go to extreme lengths if they are to survive the seemingly endless forces the new Sith ruler commands. Only by the will of the Force, will they survive... This is a novelization of the popular video game by Bioware. One of my favorite stories within the Star Wars universe, I am putting my own little twists and style on this story in a way I could see potentially fitting into the new canon by Disney. I will be releasing new chapters periodically with the goal of trimming the story down a little bit as well. Enjoy, and of course constructive criticism always welcome, and if you like what you're reading, consider voting for my story.
