《Hex [h.s]》Chapter Thirty-two

I waited for Harry to enter through the front door, waiting for him to burst in, cursing about the wound on his leg, but it never came.
Where in the world is he?
The sky was already dark, stars lighting the dark blue sky. The wind was blowing gently, making the trees' branches swing, and the moon was shining brightly.
This made me remember the past events in the mall, where the people keep whispering about a red moon. It didn't happen yet. Maybe it really won't.
Come on, a red moon? They must be talking crazy. Aren't they?
That was when the door burst open, and Harry walks in, his lips in a tight line, his eyes were black, and he looks murderous. In his hand was a dead dove, it's breast part has a huge bite mark that I cringed when I saw it.
Harry's teeth must be really that sharp. Hmm, I wonder.
He strides across the room, and sat down at the edge of the bed, his eyes focused at the wooden dusty floor. My eyes went directly to his leg, and they widen.
His wound was gone!
"Harry..."
His head shot up, his black eyes now piercing at me, which still scares the witts out of me.
"Uh... The wound, it's gone..." I murmur and he nods, before staring at the ground again. And I knew, something was off.
"H-Harry, is there something wrong?" I ask, and he looks at me again. This time his eyes were back to the green ones that knocks my breath away. They were one of my favorite shades of green.
"My days, are numbered." He spoke, confusing me. What? His days are numbered? And by who? Isn't he a demon? Shouldn't he be here forever to haunt people?

"Numbered?"
"By him. I won't last long here, that is, if I can find his family."
This made me wonder, "What family?" I question and he shrugs me off and looking away, not wanting me to know I see.
"Harry, could you tell me...How you died?"
The question caught him off guard, making him inhale sharply before turning to me.
"You wanna know?" He asks, making me look down and bitw my lip. "If that's okay with you, then, yes."
"Okay. I died, because I was shot by a Cheif. He used to run the police department, and one time, they followed me out of no where and know where I hid, and captured me. They tortured me for hours in my own house, until he decide to kill me."
A cold shiver ran down my spine, making me shudder. " Fucking messed up, right?" He laughs bitterly, I can't help but agree.
"How many people did you kill?"
He looks pained by the question, but he didn't dare show it. Why would a demon be pitiful towards the people he killed? Now that would be stupid.
"Twenty. All of them were couples." He breathes, and I felt disgusted. How could he kill twenty, twenty innocent people?
"Why?"
He stiffens, "That is none of your business!" He snaps, eyes darkening in an instant. But even if he doesn't tell me, maybe I already knew the answer.
"Was it because of Mertil?"
He sighs and his head hung low, he looks, vulnerable, defeated. A side of him I had yet to witness. He took deep and slow breaths before he looked up to me.
"After she died, I always see happy couples everywhere I go, it made me jealous. It pained me, to know I can't be with her again. She was all that I have, aside from my mother." He spoke, "I love her."

"Oh." I mumbled, suddenly thinking about Randy. Does he still love me while I'm away? Is he thinking of me? All these thoughts about him suddenly popped up, until I blurted out my question.
"Do you still love her?"
I covered my mouth after saying it, I didn't even know what was I thinking, for me to ask him about that.
He nods, "Yeah, I still do."
Deciding to avoid that subject, I asked a different question. "So, about that family you were saying, and that 'Chief', what does it have to do with you being here?"
"I have to kill the Chief's family, the ones that are still living, and in that way I would live again."
My eyes widen at this information, "Live again? What do you mean?"
"Before I died, I made a vow that I would kill each and every one of his family, leaving no one. So, that curse came true, the devil grant me my wish. But my days are numbered, you'll never know when he comes and gets you."
I nodded and that was when he stood up, "You better sleep now Lucinda, tomorrow we will continue our journey."
I yawned in agreement, and stood up to go to bed. I wonder where he would sleep, probably on the couch I suppose.
I pulled the sheets up to my chin as he flopped down on the old worn out couch. He aimed his eyes at the wood in the fireplace before it burst into flames, warming the whole wooden house.
"When we get to the city, what would we do?" I can't help but ask. But he didn't answer me, he just closes his eyes, as if trying to tell me to stop annoying him with questions.
"By the way, how did your leg healed itself? Did you cure it or something?" I question for the last time, watching him open his eyes and bite the dove's head, that layed limply on his right hand, but I just try to ignore it, which was really hard.
"It disappeared because I drank blood, it healed itself. It part of my curse, if I get wounded, it pains me, but that black fluid that comes out isn't my blood, it's the blood that I drank."
"So, it's like, a curse?"
"Yeah, it's a curse. I am hex."

+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.
